Shootouts are so much more enjoyable without Lehner in net!

We like to call him: Neck Tattoo©

I know he was super highly touted, can't miss, generational and all but it is beyond difficult watching Dahlin and trying convince your own brain that he is 18 years old.  It's ridiculous.  When he makes a mistake there is zero panic.  He barely missed setting up an unreal game winner in OT.

18.  Nope.  Not buying it.

This...

It just doesn’t seem possible that we outshot them 28-14 after the first period and shot attempts were 56 apiece. Just...strange. Perhaps it was because the Jets swarmed for longer stretches and had more quality chances?

Great win. Most of us were gonna be happy with four out of the eight points over the four game stretch starting with Tampa. We are there already. Time to get greedy. Gonna be a tough road to hoe in Minny on the second of a back to back, especially while traveling late after an extended shootout the night before, but I think this team maybe doesn’t know better.

Common man!  Row to hoe.  ;)

This is turning into a pretty fun season...nearly a quarter in and I think we can start to believe a little bit.  Good enough goaltending to steal Ws when not playing great, and a lot of skill to finish chances.  And Dahlin hasn't even played 20 games as a pro yet!  I really hope Housley and his coaches are looking at the advanced analytics so they can make the adjustments warranted as the season progresses.

Speaking of which -- if you have a subscription to The Athletic you need to read the article about their video coach Mat Myers.  Great story.

ST. PAUL -- The Wild wraps up its three-game homestand on Saturday when it hosts the Buffalo Sabres at Xcel Energy Center.

Minnesota rolled to a 6-2 win against the Vancouver Canucks in its last outing on Thursday. Six players scored goals while 11 different players tallied at least one point for the Wild in a balanced effort.

The game Saturday marks the first of back-to-back games this weekend for the Wild, which heads to Chicago after the game for a matchup with the Blackhawks at United Center on Sunday evening.

The Wild is 2-2-0 in the front half of back-to-backs this season, posting a perfect 4-0-0 mark in the second half.

Buffalo opened a three-game road trip on Friday with a 2-1 shootout win in Winnipeg. Jeff Skinner scored the tying goal 53 seconds into the third period and the teams went seven rounds in a shootout before Conor Sheary scored the deciding tally.

The victory was the fourth straight for the Sabres, who have posted a 5-2-0 record in the month of November.

He's a prodigy. He was playing with men over the past couple of years. The brilliance in his game isn't his physical play as it is his hockey intelligence. He reminds me of Gretzky not on the basis of his scoring but thinking three steps ahead of the opposition. His instincts of where to go with the puck have a natural flow whereas less talented players are more mechanical..

You have to give credit to the way Housley is handling him. He's not overloading him but gradually increasing his role. In this sport you don't become a serious cup contender without a couple of stars on your roster. The Sabres have two of them on the roster in Jack and Dahlin.

The Sabres beating the Jets, however they did it, is an accomplishment. They are talented and are capable of being the representatives for the west for the cup. What's really impressive about them is the combination of size and skill. I was really impressed by them. Between them and Tampa these are two of the best teams I have seen so far this year.

WINNIPEG — When Casey Mittelstadt left for the first time, his parents, Tom and Dede, would make frequent trips to Green Bay from the family's home in Minnesota to check on their oldest son.

When Mittelstadt's hockey journey brought him to Buffalo for his first NHL training camp in August, again, his parents made the trip to make sure their 19-year-old son was settled. The couple has continued to attend Sabres games during Mittelstadt's rookie season, beginning with the season opener and even last weekend when the Vancouver Canucks were at KeyBank Center.

The Mittelstadts' next hockey pilgrimage is much closer to home, and this time they'll be accompanied by dozens of family and friends. Five days before his 20th birthday, Mittlestadt will play his first NHL game near his hometown Saturday night, when the Sabres face the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.

Drafted eighth overall by Buffalo in 2017, Mittelstadt grew up in Eden Prairie — 30 miles southwest of Minneapolis — and played one season at the University of Minnesota before beginning his pro career. Now, the Sabres center will return to the same sheet of ice where he played his final high school hockey game, a 3-2 loss in the state semifinals, just 20 months ago.

"It should be exciting, I think," Mittelstadt told The Buffalo News. "I haven’t seen a lot of those people since I’ve been to Buffalo in August. It will be fun to see them, see all my buddies from home. They’re all going to be there. That will be the best part, I think, and hopefully we can get a win."

Good question.

Its Ben Hutton of the Vancouver Canucks.

Not only did they get the picture wrong, he’s not even a forward. He’s a defenseman... lol.

Hilarious!

The Wild must have gotten crap over the picture, because they deleted the tweet.

NHL Power Rankings: Troubling trends for all 31 teams

Greg Wyshynski, ESPN

Nobody's perfect. Even the best teams in the NHL have some issues to work out, while the worst teams play a nightly game of whack-a-mole in an effort to address their many problems.
For this week's ESPN NHL Power Rankings -- voted on as always by ESPN's panel of experts -- we look at troubling trends for the league's 31 teams.

Previous ranking: 20gn-arrow.png
Rasmus Ristolainen has nine points in 18 games, but defensively it hasn't been the best start: The Sabres are shifting him around the lineup, and every pairing ends up on the negative side of goal differential at 5-on-5.
