It's poll time.  The last poll that I conducted focused on Sean McDermott's approval rating through Week 14 of the NFL season.  Shockingly, he received almost a 91% approval rating from the folks here at Two Bills Drive.  Mind you, this was largely before the Miami victory.

 

So now I'm starting a new poll.  Let's face it, we get a large part of our news from the reporters who follow the Bills beat.  Over time there are certain "go-to" reporters, others that occasionally give good info, and maybe even a few that you can't stand.  So the question in - who is the best Bills reporter?  

 

For this poll, there's too many different reporters in television, radio, print/web for one poll.  I know I'll probably leave someone out but what I want to do is to throw out the more well-known reporters and see who TBD favors the most.  Keep in mind the different between a beat reporter that covers one area (i.e. The Bills) and a columnist or sports anchor who covers multiple topics or teams This poll will focus on just the beat reporters.   Also I'm not counting any of the Bills bloggers, because while some provide excellent insight, they really aren't covering the team in person as a member of the media.


As for my vote - this is a tough call.  So many great choice to choose from.  For me it's between Sal Maiorana, Sal Capaccio, Vic Carucci, and Joe Buscaglia.  So for 2017, I am going to vote for Joe Buscaglia.  I've really enjoyed his coverage and the podcast that he drops every Sunday after the Bills game.

He's also an overbearing blowhard, but we all have weeds in our garden I suppose. Oh yeah, I liked Fariburn. Works hard and is straight up.

My vote is for Joe B.

 

He has original content of his own. He live-streamed camp from his phone. He is not a fan - boy or a Bills basher. And he works hard and is funny sometimes.

 

Wait, am I in love with Joe B? Hmm. Nawww. But I might be if he was a woman =)

Warrow is a terrific reporter---a REAL reporter, who could probably write about most anything. I haven't read many Bills stories from him, this year. But he gets my vote, anyway.

Just saw this. I have no idea how Sal C. from WGR can be named #1.

 

He does not know how to separate his personal love for the team from an objective evaluation; his opinions are usually based on what he would like to believe as compared to "what is" and he is usually a day late and a dollar short in terms of really ever knowing anything within the organization.

 

Like many similar "reporters" he functions as an extension of the Bills' PR department; they spoon feed him what they want to get out and Sal dutifully disseminates.

 

Other than that, he's great.

All professional reporters should be able to write about anything.  That's how it works and what their training is in.


The reporting comes first, the actual subject matter to be reported comes second.

 

Today you are the crime beat guy, tomorrow, covering a football team.  I think this is why many fans dislike "sports reporters"...they feel they are not "football experts" but should be.  

 

In reality, that is not their training or job description.

Agree he is hard working; I also would guarantee he considers himself the luckiest man in the world, doing what he perceives to be a dream job.

 

You can't take that away from him.

It's between Wawrow and Buscaglia.

 

Wawrow the best old-school reporter who asks good questions and gets scoops. Buscaglia the best analyst. 

 

Fairburn is good too. And I love Sal M's Twitter because he's an unapologetic miserable curmudgeon to the core and it's hilarious.

 

Not sure why Sal C is leading this poll, aside from he's a nice guy.

Might have voted differently had I known his name meant that. 

 

But I voted Sal C. He's enjoyable to listen to and does not annoy me like a lot of the others. Plus, as mentioned, his song is great.

it is difficult to consider Wawrow a beat reporter because he cannot drop a lot of breaking news because he actually verifies his sources and will not be wrong.  he's a pure journalist

 

the rest of them are just tabloid style.

these play calls are amazing
