I don't give a damn what Terry and Kim say. I guess some of you still believe the media and in Santa and the easter bunny. Buffalo aka WNY, can NOT afford a new stadium, sorry no. Fans in WNY can't afford PSL's and jacked up ticket prices, parking prices etc.

Now all of a sudden the NFL dude says its right for the Pegulas to back off working on a new stadium for awhile? Sorry folks am an old realist and right now, in light of THREE Teams moving, I say the plan is to move to Toronto.

The NFL wants a team there badly, they can support the new stadium, will pay to get the Bills there and it makes the NFL more money. If you buy this Bull crap of "oh they have the greatest fans, they have history there blah blah blah" I don't know what to tell you.

The NFL does not give one S#@! about us the fans, they don't care about the history of Buffalo. They care about money, and if they get a new stadium in a big new market by moving the Bills, the Bills are gonna move no matter what the Pegulas say publicly.

No go ahead and rant and whatnot on this thread, it won't matter in the long run if you do or don't. I am just looking at a financial reality with the NFL, and the WNY market.

Stop it!

OP is attention grabbing bovine excrement. The junk that made BBMB such a joy.

BBMB didn't have Jack,

Even so, mods and admin can only do so much,

Some of these guys tip toe through the tulips so well there is practically nothing you can do to stop them.

You have a D1 college team in town. That's 6 dates. Stadium hockey game? College Bowl game? Monster trucks? Wrestlemania? They'll find stuff.

I wish it was that easy, but it's just not worth the effort for most events to go to venues that large.

Places like Denver, Dallas, Sunnyvale and Seattle have beautiful venues and hardly use them outside of football. Sure, a college football game here and there, maybe a country concert that brings the venue to 75% of capacity, but they are largely unused for 350 days of the year. These are metros with much stronger economies, more people and much better weather. What leads you to the conclusion that Buffalo could offer something these metros couldn't?

I'm not blaming the mods, Figster. The BBMB became overrun with irrational, brutal folks.

I get that this is part of the internet age, I suppose, but it would be great if more decorum could be maintained here.

if they outreached to private families, there are quite a few that could help. i'm not saying they would, or there would be any financial gain in them doing so, but off the top of my head local rochester families such as the galisanos, wegmans, wilmots, (who just opened up a casino along with owning a ton of business in the area, the sands, etc. again, i'm not saying they would, but the possibility of funds are present.

It could happen, but they could also ask for their share of the pot (ownership). Fresh off a purchase, the Pegulas can't be in a rush to hand out shares.

It's hard to believe but Buffalo does host large events like conventions. The current BCC is in need of replacing and updating. Those elements could be incorporated into a new stadium. No it's not going to be Las Vegas but there's a reason the Pegulas are investing in Pegulaville. Edited by PromoTheRobot

There are six pages of responses mostly saying the same thing. Guess who has real control over the life and death of threads?

buffalo has a serious self esteem issue. tell the state since new york city got the billions from all profit the niagara falls creates that we want one years profit for a new stadium. It makes something like 500 mil per year.

That appears to make sense, so politicians will never go for it.

I understand,

TBD has become by far the biggest Bills forums and may possibly become one of the biggest, most active sports forums in the country in my humble opinion.

Every troll known to mankind goes with the territory now unfortunately.

That's a myth. WNY is dependent on downstate taxes. In fact didn't Albany just earmark a billion dollars for Buffalo projects?

Not hard to believe at all. Buffalo is a top 50 metro; clearly folks do more than just go to malls and eat at restaurants

That idea was floated in San Diego as a replacement for Qualcomm and was quickly axed. I'm not familiar with all the specifics, but it sounds like stadium floor space is not sufficient for most events. I believe the design was a multi level facility with the top "floor" being the football field, but it never really took off (when combined with San Diego not willing to open the bank vault to the Spanos family).

Bills are not on list for potential moves any more than Packers.

Packers would be the ideal move however if you want to compare. The ownership by community model of Packers means they technically can not move. They would need to dissolve the corporation and cease to exist(including Packers name)and players dispersed in a draft. Then NFL could ask for bids for expansion team. Maybe make exception and let current players go to expansion team. This would increase the windfall they would be getting substantially with good players coming along and all cites could bid. Mexico Canada Japan Europe, London Toronto Portland San Antonio.

If we are just talking about NFL wanting money then this is the logical and next move. Billions for the expansion bid as cities line up. Meets objectives NFL has now. Kill the community ownership model Packers were grandfathered in, new stadiums, get out of small markets, expand internationally, make billions more $$$$ more, etc etc etc.........No brainer in your world of thinking. Packers make very very little profit.

I mean their market it larger than it appears.

You mean like Rochester and Toronto?

The Bills have over 9 million people within 2 hours drive. It's not just Buffalo. If you compared regional population the Bills are one of the larger NFL markets.
