jeffismagic
This is an intelligent point and a question that deserves an answer. Unless he's bringing a QB, I hope he can also make the run game go. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/den/2011.htm#all_team_stats Yes, he can. CSBill
McDermott as Head Coach McCoy as OC trade the 10 to San Diego for Phillip Rivers Super Bowl I would do that

WhitewalkerInPhilly
Words of reason: John Wawrow @john_wawrow 18s19 seconds ago By the way, things on #Bills front are "closer," but not yet "close." McDermott. This is not a "done deal." I couldn't read the entire thread this morning, but I am hearing a lot of "it's almost a done deal...maybe Mike McCoy." Anything about Lynn staying on as OC? I would really prefer if we kept him over McCoy. McCoy is a passing specialist, and maybe he gets a good year out of Tyrod, but Shady and our run blocking looks the best. I'm perfectly fine with McDermott and McCoy. But there won't be any Tyrod trade. Nobody else will want to pick up his contract. That forces the Bills to either keep him (unlikely) or cut him. When he's cut, anyone can pick him up on a new deal on their own terms without giving anything up. He'll end up with a two-year contract somewhere for less than what Osweiler get. IDK, to me, based on the way the contract is set up the best way to get rid of him is to pick up the option, give McCoy a year to inflate some stats, and then trade. Once the option is picked up, we hold the dead cap, and teams get a very friendly contract to him. It's high, but since we take a lot of the cap cost, we could get some very nice picks or players for him. Of course, there's the chance that: A) Lynn is staying and B) If McCoy is the guy, he would want a year to develop Cardale or whoever they draft and use Tyrod as a bridge. Over 29 years of fanhood
Reportedly Mike McCoy. McDermott. McCoy. McBills. Is he related to shady?
Wayne Arnold
What? The drop off in offense will be apparent. Don't count on the team duplicating that type of running game, top 7 in points scored and virtually no turnovers again. Ill wait and see what the plan is but I can't see it being better then what we currently have on offense. It's hilarious the number of Bills fans taking a Top 10 offense in back-to-back seasons for granted after 16 years of attrocious offense. It's absolutely mind-boggling. Coach Tuesday
Lol more excuses. They weren't great, they were a good offense. Tops in the league. Why !@#$ that up? You must've missed the Dolphins game. If the plan is Rivers or Brees I'm all for it. If not then I'm confused on how they expect to be a better offense. Ok dude enough. I can get behind Dick Jauron Jr. as long as Tyrod is retained AND/OR Lynn/McCoy is offensive coordinator. Anything else is doomed to fail and I'll find something better to do on Sundays for however long the next GM and coaching search will be.

snafu
If it is McDermott then I wonder what he thinks about keeping Gilmore. He saw first hand what happens when a defense loses its #1 corner.
RussellDopeland
So the scenario is as follows: Taylor's option not picked up- he leaves. The Bills replace him with Cardale/Rookie/veteran mediocrity/Kyle Orton clone/douchebag Cutler. The running game slips, point production declines, and the offense regresses badly. Meanwhile, defensive-oriented head coach rebuilds defense- it becomes a top five unit once again. Result: 7-9......next offseason's narrative is to improve the offense, namely the running game. It makes you want to close the garage door, start up the car, and take a nap!
2020 Our Year For Sure
This. It's a guarantee the offense will not be nearly as effective unless they some how pull off a trade for an established vet(Rivers, Brees) Stupid if him and the offensive scheme are gone, but typical Bills. if Lynn doesn't want to stay as OC then how do you propose they keep that offense? It would be dumb to promote Lynn to HC and pass on who they feel is a superior coach just to keep Greg Roman's offense. Changing schemes is what happens when you hire bad head coaches. When I asked them to fire Rex I knew this could happen. You don't know if Lynn will want to work with the incoming HC or the other way around. For me the priority would have been to think big picture and hire the best Head Coach to build the football program the right way, rather than worrying about scheme. Big Turk
McCoy would have no interest in TT, too many sophisticated passing concepts in his offense. Not sure who QB will be. Isn't this the guy who screwed up Philip Rivers??

You don't think we need a better passing game....and if we get one do you think the running game will suffer because of it and why? well would agree we need more passing but if we're just gonna throw more and run less which results in a lower scoring offense i'm not for it. if it improves our scoring we can't complain. but to win consistently in this league you need big time defense. CommonCents
First, I'm glad they are going out of Rex's coaching circle. I don't know much about McCoach but if he brings along McCoy that tells me that ownership believes in Whaley. They have to know the results won't be great while revamping the offense, which was by far the most effective piece in 16'. Please don't bring in Brees, WNY will start his decline and I'm afraid it will be steep. Please don't bring in Cutler, he couldn't lead a team of ants to a piece of bread. Draft Mahomes. aristocrat
Why is everyone so obsessed with a better passing offense if we were tops in the league in points scored? And we didn't turn the ball over. What are the chances all of this improves without Tyrod and a different offense? Slim to none. i'm agreeing with you. just saying if we can also pass the ball on top of leading the league in rushing it would make our offense better. seattle won a title and got to the superbowl running the ball down peoples throats and similar passing game. but what if we get 500 more yards passing and 5 more td's and become an even better scoring offense? i'd be all for that. K D
You people crack me up. "Let's get McCoy because he's a passing specialist!" Oh yea? Who is going to be throwing the ball? You don't just become a great passing team because your OC used to coach Peyton Manning. "Let's get Romo or Brees or Rivers!" Uhhh what?? I don't know if you are all delusional or if you really think that is a possibility. Romo is going to Denver and Brees and Rivers are staying where they are and will be retired in a couple years. Nobody is packing up their family to move to Buffalo because derpy mcderp on the Bills forum thinks it would be really awesome. If they break up this offense it's going to take a couple of years to get the right players and know the plays. They are already planning on having a new defense as well. This team is hitting the reset button if they replace the entire coaching staff so add season 18 to the drought if that's the case.

The drought was 18 years and counting the moment Doug Whaley was retained and spear heading the coaching search.
