707BillsFan
Since the injury will likely end Williams career, I'd say Landry has to pay a % of his salary for the rest of his career to Aaron. That'd be a suitable fine for me...
Freddie's Dead
Not enough (yeah yeah, CBA mandate, bite me) and no suspension. NFL is a joke.
jumbalaya
You don't have to ask a player if they think a hit is dirty when you have the replay. He launched himself at the AW. Should be tossed from the game and miss the next. Minimally he should lose two paychecks based on his annual salary and his bonus spread over the term of the contract. That and only that will stop this crap quickly. A 24K$ fine for that hit is despicable. Edited October 27, 2016 by jumbalaya
TPS
He should be suspended for the remainder of the season. Watch his behavior after the hit. He doesn't look at the play. He stares over AW as if he just threw a knockout punch. A fine is bull ****.
Webster Guy
No. It was a clean hit. With his shoulder. Not his fault Aaron Williams can't see a blocker coming at him.  Hate to say it, Williams is probably done and he should be if he wants to walk after he hangs his cleats up  right, except the two officials who simultaneously threw flags and the league office say you're an idiot. K-9
@rapsheet Sources: #Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry was fined $24,309 for an illegal crackback -- his hit on #Bills S Aaron Williams. Letter sent on Tuesday How's that possible? Why, I read here in these very parts that it was a football play. Even heard an NFL official guy say the same thing. r00tabaga
Left his feet, targeted the head. Dirty. Period. I'm surprised the fine wasn't higher. I'm not surprised he wasn't susp. Â Sucks for AW. That was prolly the hit that finally did 'em in.
4merper4mer
Bottom line is that he needs to be made to pay. And I'm not talking about the fine. It's just the way it has to be. The hit was needless and egregious, the cost to the Bills was high and the cost to Williams was immeasurable. It can't be left alone.

zonabb
This is what contribute to the decline in viewership. People don't want to watch guys incapacitated each other and end careers by playing dirty. If the NFL can't get this type of dirty pkay out of the game with immediate removal from games and multi-game suspensions without pay, they can expect people to tune out. When someone knows the impact of such hits and still does it, sane clear thinking people aren't ok with it. If I liked savagery and personal injury, I'd watch mma or be an accident recreation specialist and get my jollies off the pain of others. Â F the NFL. There was a long thread a couple of weeks ago about why NFL viewership is on the decline. Presidential debates is not a reason. The injuries and dangerous nature of the game are. I love watching football and am a huge Bills fan. I am an Aaron Williams fan. That said, I did not enjoy watching him play this year. Every time he made a tackle, I cringed, wondering if it would be his last. Watching the aftermath of Landry's hit on Williams last week made me feel extremely uncomfortable and a little sick to my stomach. Feeling like that takes a lot of fun out of watching the game. If the league took these situations more seriously, it would reduce this kind of play and perhaps bring some of the fun back. A $24K fine for a guy making more than $700K this season just isn't enough deterrent.

That and the prime time lineup being awful generally. I still tune in for a lot of games but miss the big rivalries at qb that are lacking right now. mrags
Â right, except the two officials who simultaneously threw flags and the league office say you're an idiot. tuere is a difference between a clean hit, and an illegal hit. There is a difference between a dirty hit and a clean hit as well. He was fined. It was a crack back block. He was not suspended. That should tell you something. Â Oh, and The Watchmen sucked. gr8billsfan
the NFL should adopt the collegiate rule of two flagrant fowls resulting in an ejection.

NFL is not losing viewers in significant numbers due to violence. If anything, the physical nature of the game attracts many viewers.  If the NFL went to a "flag football" tackling system viewership would drop to zero. Totally inconsistent qb play outside of about 5 guys is my number one reason for seeing less games. That and the prime time lineup being awful generally.  I still tune in for a lot of games but miss the big rivalries at qb that are lacking right now. I think this is the biggest reason for decreased viewership. The game has evolved to the point where the QB has never been more important to team success. At the same time, rules and defensive coaching have altered the game so that about 5 guys in the entire league can consistently play the position at a really high level.  There are way too many dead beats in the league now and few match-ups look interesting enough on paper to want to bother to tune in.  When you do tune in, the commercials create a product that is so disjointed it's not worth the frustration of watching.  NFL needs a development minor league where good NFL caliber QBs can be found and developed...and then fed into starting jobs in the NFL. Give 5/6 of the NFL teams a good effective QB (instead of 1/6) and viewership would go up.
4merper4mer
I share the same sentiment of revenge, but no one is going to exact revenge here. Would be fined, penalized, and suspended. Who's going to do that? Not to Mention that most players don't want to see other players hurt. Â Â If we do nothing to a punk like Landry after a BLATANT cheap shot ends the career of on of our players we will also be penalized, albeit in a different way. We will be doormats because every team in the league will see us as unwilling to stand up even in the most obvious of circumstances.
