The equally annoying "Obnoxiously Obtuse Optimists"

What about the equally annoying "Obnoxiously Obtuse Optimists" ???

I am not exactly a doom-sayer, but come on... this team has wallowed in stupidity and played punching bag to the PayTiolets for the better part of two decades now. Exactly how does that even come close to inspiring any real optimism, especially when year after year, this board is alight with blind-faith, blue sky optimism with little more than a few roster moves, maybe a signing of a washed up high priced free agent, and a bunch of gutless puffy chested tweets from a few players about how great they think they are?

Before you reply and bash me, step back, and just look at the last 20 years of nonsense we've endured. If I'm even close to wrong, then I'll take my lumps.

The "realists" bend realities, make "mistakes" when they present their data and live mostly on the extreme end of assumptions for the sake of "realism."

There is no counterweight to that which isn't hyperbolic for comedic effect.

"Obnoxiously obtuse optimists" (and I'll happily march under their banner) get mired in having to just reel "realists" back to reality (ironically).

There are people here who say the Bills will go 2-14 every season. And they mean it. Nobody says they'll go 14-2 without having their tongue pressed firmly into their cheek.

To equate the two is "realist"-level absurdity.

Lol make mistakes wine they are presented with heat maps you mean?

There are zero mistakes in arithmetic anywhere in those heat maps.

When we talk about having to stop, go back and refute things because the "realists" make **** up, this is exactly what we're talking about.

This is a masterpiece of irony.

Honestly, I'm somewhere in the middle. Expect the worst, hope for the best. watch the games, even after we're mathematically eliminated, just because I still have a home team to watch. I'm not exactly bashing all the Optimists here, just the ones that bash the negative Nancys, and not even seriously bashing you guys either, I just thought it was fun. Both views on this team will, and have been 100% accurate by way of the team always going roughly 8-8 every year. Let that fact marinate a little.

That's giving yourself to much credit. Your more entertaining than anything else, when you get going I envision you sitting down pounding away with one hand on the keyboard and the other hand holding up your Captain America shield.

This time of year one can choose optimism or pessimism without the consequence of reality discrediting or affirming said position. We are month and month fro The games, record and playoffs which are the conclusion.

The contrasting speculation is what makes the board great in my view. Fans can look at all the same info and arrive at polar opposite conclusions.

If the optomists and pessimists agreed in prognostication, there would only be crickets on tbd.... So I'm glad they don't

Why do you think the last 20 years are indicative of what to expect in the future? I'd focus a lot more on the last 2, unless you think the ghosts of Ralph and GMs past are guiding the hands of the current regime. ( I will not entertain any responses from the Littman, Overdorf, Russ Brandonberg, illuminati, Priori of Scion wingnuts that reside at TBD)

to be fair, even the last two years at best raise a lot of questions. i dont think theres a lot of unequivocal positive to point to.

we havent made the playoffs, we have had some rough (at times embarrassing) coaching issues. locker room dissent possibly. maybe some front office issues.

to say that we should look at the last two years and feel great is by definition a very optimistic view. that said, they are question marks and we shouldnt assume the worst behind the scenes either.

It's a room full of horse ****, K-9. There's got to be a pony in here somewhere!

This is a funny post. A bit obnoxiously obtuse, but it really made me laugh.

As an eternal optimist and a fan who can remember Richie Lucas and 1960, I can live with the negativity. We have earned it. I just make one simple request. Can the nattering nabobs be banned from reminding us how long it has been since we made the playoffs in every thread and to make every argument. We ALL KNOW THAT. We are well aware. Thank you. I feel better now.

Failure porn.

LOL! That's even better than the pony in the schit-filled room. Like I said the other day, the bad news about Lawson and Watkins was like Viagra for some people here.

SCHWING!

Is this where I put the smiley face?

when were quantifying specific stats cherry picked to show success on defense in 2015 - that's obnoxious.

when we draw pictures and graphs and charts to show how we improved - that's obnoxious.

when we constantly disagree with anothers opinion without providing an actual counter argument - that's obnoxious.

the worst part of the overly optimistic is that they drive by flame. they do not offer a counter point to a clearly stated negative point. even debating what happened to mario as rex's fault - not entirely, though - you'll get this obtuse optimist. actually the worst ones.

Regarding what happened to Mario and whose fault it was, please explain to me how attitude is anything other than somebody's own, personal responsibility.

Then I suppose its a good thing that I haven't said anything even resembling that.

My point, which is best understood by reading only what it is written, is that choosing to conflate the current status of the team with the last 15 years of utter mismanagement and despair, is a decidedly illogical way to view things and results in a more pessimistic view.
