I've said it before, I'll say it again:

For 25 straight weeks--from preseason through the playoffs--the NFL is nothing but truck commercials, beer ads, previews for cop shows and spots for tortilla chips and pizza.

Then--all of a sudden--when the biggest game of the year rolls around, it's mother !@#$ing ladies' night. I just don't !@#$ing get it.

Seriously, what band of over-thinking broads makes these ludicrous decisions??

Its marketing 101...you got half the Country watching that game with half the audience women. And 3/4 of them control the purse strings in the household.

So I get it...but would it kill the NFL to get AC/DC? Could you imagine them coming out to Thunderstruck? The place would implode.

It's in hopes that the woman won't change the channel at halftime when her man gets up to take a piss, refill the cooler, and stock back up on snacks.

See, back in the good ol' days, a good woman would keep the cooler and snacks filled, and wasn't allowed to touch the TV anyway.

Thanks women's lib. Because of you we have crappy halftime shows.

Was it really worth it?

How about we have a college/high school marching band competition starting a month before the SB. Do it in an American Idol fashion with the competitors sending in videos. Nothing better than a good ole fashioned kick ass marching band. That way 98% of people who don't give a **** about marching bands can use the restroom, get some more food and catch up on some boozin'

They were on a roll there for a while. U2, Springsteen, Tom Petty, Prince, The Stones... Sadly The Who was awful and that started this downturn.

U2 was the best -- especially given the context and the scroll of the 9/11 names.

what's wrong with Beyonce? She is very good at what she does. Plus we may get some Jay-Z along with it

I'm over her. Yea, she's got a hot body & can sing, but with the combination of her personality & massive overexposure, I could go the rest of my life without seeing her shake that pretty ass again. Plus, I can't really think of any song she's ever put out I care about hearing again. And Jay-Z has been dead to me since his feud with the Hammer.

Can't disagree

I just watched the U2 clip again after I posted the link. I still get tears in my eyes watching and thinking back to it. It was almost part of the "healing" process. Bono's gesture at the end (what he did with his jacket - I will not spoil it for anyone who watches it) was very moving.

I do not think I have ever heard a Super Bowl crowd react to U2 the way I heard them react and applaud at the end.

BEP was the worst. My only thought is why so knee jerk with these acts? Janet Jackson nipple = Geritol rock?(and I love Petty)

Some one said green day...not my fave but much better than the past few years.

As far as Beyonce goes, she is the best pop act since jackson /timberlake.

Hell, at least it ain't nickleback, or ac/dc for that matter...the nickleback of their day!

Metalica and foo fighters are good too...breast cancer is bad, who cares if the NFL goes pink for a month...has nothing to do with womens lib either. Old farts that rely on the 'womens lib' movement as an argument should study harder and find new arguments.

im on the green day bandwagon for the superbowl. i've seen them play to hundreds of thousands of people at lolapalooza (2010,) they can carry a crowd. their lead singer is in rehab though, so i doubt that happens anytime soon.

The Black Eyed Peas, Madonna, now Beyonce. Keeps getting worse every year.

How are Madonna and Beyonce worse than The Black Eyed Peas?

Beyonce is an icon of our time and for good reason, but let's face it, the half time show is the worst part of the Super Bowl. I don't care who is playing, it should never have been a thing.

I don't think anyone could be worse musically than The Black Eyed Peas were. But none of the three acts are even the least bit appealing to me. Unless as DC Tom said, there is another wardrobe malfunction this year.

Beyonce elicits a "meh" response from me. If you're going the pop route, I'd prefer Katy Perry to be honest.

I typically find Bono insufferable, but U2 was the best halftime show I've seen - followed by Prince and the Stones.

I'm only a casual fan, but I agree that the Foo Fighters are tailor made for the Super Bowl halftime act. Too bad they're on indefinite hiatus.
