Honestly, he might make Troup expendable if the latter can't stay healthy. He looked better in the playing time he got.

Agreed, I liked him better than troupe. This year there are going to be some really tough decisions in training camp with that d line. I am expecting some real surprise cuts.

If the Bills are in a position where camp cuts really hurt, where they have to get rid of a guy they'd really like to keep, and are afraid of another team picking them up, then I think we can all be happy.

Yeah, unfortunately that only goes for a small part of the roster. That d line being the only part I think that will happen. I think all of the positions on offense won't have any surprise cuts. The positions there just don't have much competition

You like McKelvin? You think McGee can make it through a season? Lock down corners with our safeties and pass rush will cause a huge issue for Offenses.

You do know that Wanny does not blitz LBs - right? All they have to do is stop the run (Sheppard will be beast), handle TE coverage and make tackles. Our LBs only need to cover the TE and RB for a short time. Yeah the base D is 43, but I can guarantee that more than half the game will be in nickle and dime coverages.

We could use another LB for depth. There is no LB in this draft that will supplant one of our 3 starters, that equals a waste of #10 and #41.

let's see ... Williams, Rogers, Florence as the top three with McGee still capable of serving in a reserved role and our punt returner/kick-off specialist McKelvin also in the mix for depth. I think we are starting from a decent place in comparison to most teams in the league. Could we be better? Of course but I really think that Williams is going to come into his own this year.

This would be a solid pick up for the D-line. I'd still pick up another D-lineman in the later rounds, which would afford the FO the opportunity to get a OT, LB, CB, and WR in the first 4 rounds. I love how this team is shaping up. I can only imagine how DW is drooling over what he'll have to work with if Anderson is signed.

This can be merged if need be of course, just wondering if we sign anderson doea that spell the end of merriman? Me personally I'd give shawne one last chance to try and get healthy although Anderson would be a welcome addition

The team is not really counting on him because they can't. But he makes 4 million in salary this year and 3 million is guaranteed. I think they let him play and see how hard he can go. If he looks good in pre-season or on his way to being healthy, I can't imagine them releasing him to save one million but it's possible. He seems to think he will be back but of course he is going to say that. He probably believes it 100%. I would not be surprised at all if he is the starting RDE on opening day if Anderson is signed, or in on passing downs as a situational rusher if Anderson is not. That's all just conjecture though. It's hard to know what they have up their sleeve and where they plan on playing certain guys right now.

We may gave to release him and Dwan to create enough cap space

No we wouldn't. Edwards maybe, but even that is speculation. The way things are structured in many players contract is throwing a lot of uninformed opinions around this board. Truth is, everything; even informed contract structures on websites are speculation or leaks by agents, teams don't release this info except in overall numbers of the whole team. I am sure that numbers add up or they wouldn't be considering this. I am not guaranteeing that Kelsey stays long term (or though out his contract) but he will not be gone this season for money reasons.

The truth about teams is flexible at best and we don't know the whole story.

Well, with them going back to a 4-3, having to cut some guys at the D-line that they really don't want to part with is a great thing.

Them trying to force DE's into OLB slots the past 2 years, not so much.

Anderson did some impressive work last year:

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4719462/andersons-free-agent-tour-continues

"As previously noted, Anderson is one of the Patriots' more interesting free agents when it comes to assigning a value, as he was a part-time player (47 percent of the snaps) who was productive (10 sacks in regular season, 2.5 sacks in playoffs) in the role. When he had to assume full-time duties late in the year, he played well."

Super Mario, Dareus, Williams, Mr. Anderson

Every single one of those guys can win one on one battles and be a threat to sack the quarterback. NE might have to keep a couple of the 100 receivers they signed in the offseason on the bench in order to have someone chip block or help double-team.

so Tim Russerts mom bought the bisons, then put deer in Tom Bradys hotel room, which Mario Williams shot. Jim Kelly ate deer out of Wannys stach then Chad Kelly twweted it to his fiance at Clemson who then got on the same plane that had Mark Anderson on it that was on the way t Baltimore but then turned around to Buffalo after it was hijacked by Peter Pan. Oh, and Ralph is cheap.

Anderson has always been more of a speedrusher/specialist type, while Merriman showed (while he was healthy) that he can still "set the edge" very effectively. These 2 could be a pretty effective rotation at RE position if used right. I am also very interested if Carrington beats out Kelsay for the guy who spells Mario. I def like our rotation if Anderson signs.....a lot.

Kelsay is going no where, you can bank on that. He's not great, but he's okay and he played better later in the season when they were back to playing a lot of 4-3. Kelsay will never be good, but hes okay and you just don't cut servicable veterans when you have no one to replace them.

Dwan Edwards, I agree with you though. You'd have to think he's a goner if Anderson is added. A lot of teams have sniffed around Mark Anderson, so I'm not sure this visit precludes his signing. There a few other teams in the mix according to multiple reports. I do like the fact he's spending the night though, and meeting with everyone tomorrow. The extended visit seemed to work wonders with Mario, maybe the same will be true again.

Just don't see merriman as a DE he will just get swallowed up by tackles, the only way he could is if he goes wide 9 which is brutal against the run.

Kelsay and Dwan would have to go.

KELSAY IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE! Man what is with you guys, we need more DEs not less plus Anderson will be the backup not Kelsay.

If anderson is signed carrington is gone...he should be gone anyway, unless he can compete at dt...unlikely...I would love Anderson, merriman, kelsey, williams, and moats rotating DE...that is my ideal situation..maybe wrong, but I like it

Carrington is listed as a DT now.

Bills fans are not used to the concept of stacking talent. It's a foreign concept <_< That hopefully will be righted in the coming years. People Our defensive coordinator made it clear he wants to mold this defense after The Giants. We're not cutting defensive ends just cause we may sign someone. Get used to having talented players on top of good players. This is a great thing enjoy it

There was an (unsubstantiated) report earlier today on another board with a poster who twice said he has very reliable info that Anderson checked into a Buffalo hotel this morning. Of course it doesn't mean anything whatsoever, but there were also a few reports that he was scheduled to visit a mystery team in the AFC on Monday (yesterday). It's possible. I like it if they are simply going to sign him for two years or something and then just release Edwards, or even S Johnson or Kelsay (which I highly doubt).

I thought we only checked into hotels in the afternoon/evening....Just saying
