  1. In a few years Beane will be an absolute wizard for the good picks and an abject failure for the picks that didn’t 😂
  2. Beane gets his wizard credentials restored for a couple of weeks at least. Fred Jackson crushing it.
  3. Beane has wizarded the cap hit for josh down the road. 47 mil next year, 56 the following. Only 18 this year.
  4. Must have been taking notes from all supreme cap wizard Beane.
  5. All that Beane is a wizard, use your sorcery is starting to look more like black magic
  6. Damn what a steal...one year $1.7 million. Beane is a wizard.
  7. Just got home and seen Damien Harris's $s. Spotrac $7.1M. Beane signs him $1.7M. Someone got it backwards and it wasn't the wizard!
  8. McGovern was rated 64th out of 77 Guards last season, great pickup. If there's one thing Beane is a wizard at its finding offensive line talent. Let's all get behind the new starting guard and pretend he is going to be good all offseason. When it turns out he sucks we can attribute it to the need for continuity and time required to gel.
  9. This may be the best way to convey the true narrative about Ed that words fail to do or that those enamored with him are impervious to. Well done. Really well done with this graph. Anytime someone can quickly and vividly identify the 3 games a player played above expectations in (of the 14 played they played in a season) a problem exists and should be a clue they are not worth big money. Ed is a $5.5m / yr type player at best. The $10m+ slotted to him this year is criminal and warrants a trade IMO. A 5th would be reasonable, I would take a 7th and would hail Beane a wizard if he could get a 3rd. Finally, of all years this would be the year we need massive IDL who can penetrate consistently understanding we will have a new-to-the system LB replacing Edmunds. The play charted above of Ed would likely put too much pressure on our LB during the adjustment period (new captain, play caller, etc).
  10. I can see this thread has run its course. Down to arguing about the usual stuff. I'll leave this thread with my opinion that Harty has a good potential to replace McKenzie. That's fine with me. He didn't do it last year when he had his chance. Harty's cost is not crazy if he replaces McKenzie on the 53. WRs depth right now as I see it: Diggs, Davis, Shakir, Harty. I so want a WR in the draft NLT the 3rd round. McDermott HAS to give these rookies a bigger chance to play so if he does Harty at worse would be a WR4-5. At best he could get some good WR3 time. That would leave 1 more needed from somewhere else. I'll wait until all that is done before I call Beane a wizard or a wastrel.
  11. In the thread on the signing, there is a very long write up profile on him and it sounds very encouraging. Only has drawn 2 flags in his whole career so far, which brings much needed discipline to the OL. And he has great versatility where he can play G and C, but also lined up in the backfield as well. Write up even referred to him as a guy that Dallas should try and keep. I didn't know much about him prior to reading the write up, but it definitely read well and seems encouraging, like one of those signings we will look back at and say Beane was a wizard again at finding value.
  12. All fair points. If the Bills are going to have a shot at the Lombardi, we’re going to need HUGE upgrades on the O and D lines. Like revamps. We’re going to somehow need Von to come back and have a great season. We’re going to likely need Poyer replacement, and maybe Edmunds. We’re going to need Tre to return to form. And we’re going to need a true #2 WR. Then finally, we’ll need some creative coaching that will get the job done. The above is tough to do with no $ and a late round pick. If Beane is a true wizard… now’s his time to shine, baby! I wanna Billieve next season!
  13. I love how other fanbases are all "they're in cap hell now - the window is closed." JA is too competitive. He'll restructure, and Beane is a wizard w/ the cap. We'll be able to get the pieces we need.
  14. I have been super critical of Ed and it is somewhat comforting, in this thread, to see the "defense" of Ed be tempered from prior conversations. In the past the descriptors of: (a) Elite (b) Big and (c) he knocks the piss out of opponents were consistently used and I think we can all agree those were and are overstatements. Similarly, I think we are all in agreement that he needs the perfect situation to excel, and that being (a) a big nasty 1DT next to him (b) a healthy elite Edge rusher (c) him being blocked 1:1 and (d) him being lined up over an OL whom is not elite. To me at least, that reinforces that he is not in the category of Allen, Diggs, or Milano on how critical he is for the Bills to succeed. In fact, I imagine Brandin Bryant could perform as well as Ed if all of the above were in play. To some degree what professional DT could not? This stated, I am coming to terms with the reality he will be on the Bills next season. What gives me a glimmer of hope is that Beane spoke quite differently of him versus Singletary when it comes to how they view their future with the team and how they appreciate, respectively, those players. And at that, if we could trade him for a comparable OL (in 5th year, drafted high, had potential, is just not expressing it in current situation) Beane should do it ASAP. I would honestly consider trading him for a 6th, or 5th, or if Beane could get to a 3rd he is a true WIZARD. The bottom line, Ed seems like a super good dude, but his rate limiting factor cannot be "coached up" or "schemed around"; in fact here are the Eagles DT's: DT 6-4 310 DT 6-6 336 DT 6-2 305 DT 6-4 328 DT 6-4 307 DT 6-3 290 And Ed = DT 6' 1" 287 lbs He just does not fit, anthropometrically speaking, into what we need our DT's to do. Funnily enough, as I expressed this in a prior thread a poster argued that Ed was similarly sized as Aaron Donald. Not sure they realize that is not the flex they thought it was. And proves that some people truly do not know what they are looking at. If fully healthy with the aforementioned situation, is Ed a serviceable DT for the Bills? Sure. Yet, with what we just witnessed, I am not sure serviceable is what we should be striving for, you know that growth mindset and all. Beane and McD need to be better and do better in shoring up the lines. Both OFF and DEF. PS- if we trade Ed and he goes all Wyatt Teller on us? Good on him. Really. I would be thrilled for Ed. Yet, him getting 10 sacks from the interior DT position? Whew, that is quite the speculation.
  15. I really like Beane for a lot of his cagey moves. He's been called a wizard playing 5D Chess, and I strongly agree. However, for as good as he is at that, he really seems to be suffering with drafting. Yes, he got Allen but aside from that there are a ton of misses and underachiever. I think your opinion of him relies strongly on which aspect you're looking at, drafting, or wheeling and dealing.
  16. Let's get real. We need O-line, WR, DB and RB help this offseason. Beane is going to have to truly be a wizard to get this team to next year's Super Bowl with all the holes we need to fill. If Edmunds leaves there will also be a hole at LB. Bass is on the final year of his contract in 2023 & needs an extension. Lots of FA's, this offseason who if they leave could create more holes. Poyer almost certainly gone.
  17. Agreed! Again, he seems like a really good dude but he is so dependent on other things to be a game changer particularly for a top 10 pick. Top ten picks should be disruptors on their own. He totaled zero tackles yesterday and 1 assist. Against 3 back up OL. Was he doubled teamed? Sure at times but not every snap and against back ups as well. Sure we all remember his game against the Lions this year and Saints last year - he was a force. However, to me that is the precise issue, you can recall and nail down the exact two games he dominated over 2 seasons (33/34 games). That tells me all I need to know about how to prioritize him remaining with the Bills. If we are being honest, he is replaceable; a JAG as they say. Beane will be considered a wizard of epic proportions if he can find a trade partner for Ed and get anything below (5th, 4th, 3rd....) a 6th round pick. 50% turnover on the DL; this is what I speculate.
  18. The real question: Is Beane still a wizard? https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/search/?q=wizard beane&quick=1
  19. Those “Beane is a wizard” posts are nowhere to be found these days…
  20. Beane seems like a wizard w/ the cap, too. I'm not too worried about being able to maintain contender-caliber rosters. There may be a down year here or there, but I think the window is wide open as long as JA is QB.
  21. I know you are not asking this, but in no universe would that be a coherent move. In a perfect world we trade Oliver this offseason. I would take a 5th for him. And for those that state he produces more than a 5th, my counter argument is does he produce like a $10M per year player? We all know the answer to that one. Sure, if Beane could get a 4th or 3rd you take that in a nanosecond and assert that Beane is a true Wizard. For those stating Oliver is worth a 2nd.....you have no clue what you are watching. If Beane could get a 2nd for Oliver this offseason, Beane should be inducted in Canton this August. Oliver is a below average to average talent. When we needed him the most, he disappeared. Shave off the salary hit, plug in Bryant or Ankou or any late round pick or FA and reinvest that money into the OL. At worst bring in competition for him, much like those that want to have Brown challenge for his spot on the OL. Do the same for Oliver, then. What has he done that he should be penciled in as a starter? I'll wait.......
  22. So it was a conditional 7th from what I have read. when all the dust settles yeah it may not be for anything. It happens. Andre smith a few years ago was similar. Andre came from Carolina for a conditional late pick. Andres condition was make the team. Bills cut him and then signed him an hour later when they moved someone to IR. Cost nothing to get Andre from Carolina. for Marlowe the only condition for a pick at the deadline that I could think is playing time. He’s been inactive since we got him despite cam Lewis and Jaquan Johnson not playing well. As soon as Marlowe is active he’s in over both those guys. I think they kept him inactive to not tigger the condition on the pick and still as insurance against further safety injury. I think we see him going forward and I’m hoping beane did it for free. He is a wizard.
  23. I don't worry about next year or even think about it for that matter. what is it like to think so far ahead and make prophetic claims on what will happen? me thinks you just don't like McD and believe ridding of coaches is just to cover his ass. he is covering his ass and maybe he believes such changes are for the teams betterment. personally I'm not ready to give up on McD and I am looking forward to seeing how this next season goes with Dorsey in his second year and a defense without Frazier. I'm sure though you will likely disagree with my take. I'm not as prophetic about what the future holds but if the walls were/are closing in, it's on Beane, he has made some questionable moves along the way. he is also stating it'll be two years before they can get out of cap hell before having any breathing room to be able to make any big moves. meanwhile, not only are there demanding needs on the offense, WR and OL in particular but the defense as well still has and will have some holes to fill. he brought them close, just not close enough and if he is any kind of wizard he'll need to dig deep in to his bag of tricks to get them not only close, but over the top. all the while JA, whom by far was his greatest move, career is passing by. tough road ahead, time will tell.
  24. Great article, and very true. I have also seen some analysts say that Allen's contract is already a bargain, and he'll probably be more in the range of the 10th highest QB pay in just a year or 2. Beane has some flaws, but I think he's kind of a wizard w/ the cap, at least so far. I trust him to be able to work the dollars so we'll always be able to surround Allen w/ a competitive team.
