PFF Trade Grades - Round 1 - Bills B+ and A
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Slippery Rubber Mats's topic in The Stadium Wall
Edmunds was another one. It's tough too as you need to pick up the 5th year option after the player has only completed his 3rd year. Wouldn't be shocked if the Bills had wished like in the old days to rescind Edmunds option after seeing his play in year 4, but can't do that anymore. So they let him play it out, maybe were hoping for a huge improvement, but it never came, so let him walk. -
They only moved from 22 to 16 to get up for Edmunds. It wasn’t all that much of an investment but I do agree with your sentiment.

That and the fact that I never need to hear that song or an Edmunds joke ever again.

Ray Ray Davis pick receiving praise
Sierra Foothills replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gore was 44, not 54. At age 34 Ray Davis is definitely older than the average rookie. By comparison Tremaine Edmunds is going into his 7th season and he's only 21... but every athlete is different so in that regard, age is just a number. -
Is it time to grow concerned about Greg Rousseau?

Edmunds just named valedictorian at Sweet Home HS. Here’s to the graduating class of 2024!

No, it’s set. The Bills are getting a 3rd for Edmunds but that’s it. https://overthecap.com/compensatory-picks

The deal that sticks out to me the most was for Edmunds. That one was way out of left field, but it shows Beane will do whatever it takes to get his person.

How long until they realized they made a mistake with Tremaine Edmunds and award a compensatory pick to NE?

You can't make this ***** up... How we did not get one for Edmunds blows my mind.
-
I don't see that happening, unfortunately. It would have happened by now. They "corrected" Cincinnati fairly quickly and there's been nothing since. And you best believe Beane was on the phone immediately just like Cincinnati was. It seems that Edmunds being hurt for a couple games hurt us. Wild that even on another team, Edmunds still found a way to disappoint us.
-
Absolutely correct. If Edmunds hadn't been on the squad, Bernard might have gotten a lot of first-team reps in training camp, and who knows. On the other hand, when he did get in the game as a rookie, he didn't look anything like the player we saw the next season.
-
How are they getting a fourth for 3 years / $39 million when Edmunds's contract was vastly larger than that (four years / $72 million)? Plus Samuel is 3 years / $24 million. That'll offset Davis somewhat. I'm expecting a fifth at best for Davis.

Which round are the Bills more likely to trade up....1st or 2nd??
T master replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seeing as the Bills got totally screwed on the conpensitory pick for Edmunds it wouldn't surprise me if Beane bundled some lat round picks to get into the 3rd round . -
Crazy to think about now in today’s day and age: Allen Pick: sent #12, and two 2nds, for pick #7 Edmunds: sent #22 an early 3rd and 6th, for #16
-
Agreed. And gone are Edmunds, Poyer, Hyde, White, Settle etc.. That doesn't absolve Diggs. He's a WR1 making big money. He hasn't stepped up when it matters.

NFL Admits Mistake, Bengals get 3rd Rnd Comp Pick
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
And by jumping ahead of edmunds into the 3rd, the 4th that cancelled out with orlando brown now shifts down and cancels out a 6. -
I liked Greg a lot coming out of college. Great physical traits with a lot of room to grow or low floor/high ceiling has been the Beane MO and I think it’s the right one. Josh, Edmunds, Rousseau, Elam have all fit that mold and when those players do hit, the benefit is that they are supposed to hit big. But obviously we have been hit or miss in that first round. And perhaps even more bothersome, they have not hit “big” except for Josh. Edmunds is an NFL player but he wasn’t the defensive All-Pro they thought he was going to be. And Rousseau seems to be going that same road. I have this debate all the time on here about players “who can be 8-10 sack guys.” 8-10 sack guys are INCREDIBLY rare. It’s not very common for 6 sack guys to just become double digit sack guys because they play more or anything else. And Greg is that perfect example. He played 3 more games than last season and had 3 less sacks. He played more defensive snaps than he ever has in his career and a higher percentage of snaps. And his year was just… alright. But anyway, besides that, we are running into the Edmunds problem where the fifth year option decision is coming. I would assume Greg is going to play on it, but based on his production, are we sure he is going to get an extension? Or is he going to be an Edmunds, where we let a solid player get overpaid by a bum franchise because the juice isn’t worth the squeeze?
