  1. Maybe the data will make the point more clear... Arch Manning has played in a grand total of 12 NCAA games. He's started 2 of those games. One week ago he turned 21 years old (so he's only one year older than Tremaine Edmunds).
  2. It is a good point on age. He is just (in March) turned 23 at least Amos. Kincaid turned 24 during his rookie season. That hasn't typically been their MO. Tremaine Edmunds is still only 15.
  3. Tremaine Edmunds makes much more than him. Think about that.
  4. Edmunds got a massive UFA contract. Your understanding of player exceptionalism surely must be based on contract dollars, no?
  5. That’s a good deal money wise and cheaper than what Edmund’s got and Bernard is better.
  6. I disagree. I think Edmund’s has a high floor and low ceiling due to his measurables and low football IQ
  7. Tremaine Edmunds was 12 years old when the Bills drafted him!
  8. Bernard barely played as a rookie as he was still behind Edmunds
  9. Beane has shown in the past he will trade up to get a player he wants. If I remember correctly didn't, he do that with Edmunds.
  10. I know, but he’s still 10 years older than Tremaine Edmunds. They don’t stay kids for long
  11. Agree! Like the player but I would have spent that money on Cook. If anything McDermott has shown he can get decent play from most guys he puts out there at MLB. Even Specter and Klein were serviceable. Never liked Bernard's lack of size but he's made more plays in two years of starting than Edmunds has his entire career. Hope he stays healthy and gets decent DT play in front of him this year.
  12. Answer is still an easy no for me. 1. Snap counts... 2. Third downs have not been great. (The great ones thrive on third downs) 3. He is running behind a really good offensive line (never talked about enough) 4. The JA effect... And his brother still not doing him favors. I feel like the repeat of Edmunds is coming... Cook has an amazing year. We get forced to let him go. (Lack of cap space and repeat asking price.) Many fans not happy... We draft another HB... Rinse... repeat...
  13. Tre White, Matt Milano, Edmunds, Oliver, Taron Johnson, our two tackles, Shakir, Rousseau, and some asshate named Allen. Stop trolling.
  14. We must afford Gunner the opportunity to use a bunch of tangled words to blame Beane. Yes, when McD's defense still sucked with pro bowler Edmunds.
  15. It would be nice if we could get a few physically imposing players from time to time. Other teams WRs are bigger than our TEs. Other than Allen, Edmunds(when he was here), and maybe Spencer Brown, I can't think of many guys that are just bigger and stronger than their opponent. Bills do generally have decent size at the CB position. Can only dream what Allen could do with a guy like Mecalf.
  16. ROBBERY Phenomenal contract Edmunds got 4 for 72, 50 mil guaranteed, we get a better player for much less!
  17. That said, the ability to execute McD scheme being favored (heavily?) over athletic talent leads to upper echelon regular season defenses that break down as individual positions fail for being physically overmatched by playoff caliber opposition. Counter to that of course is Tremaine Edmunds. It's a fine line to walk but after SO many years of the defense getting walked every playoff most folks are receptive to taking a flyer on lower-floor higher-ceiling athletes being put in a position to let their talent make those plays they havent been making. Which sounds vaguely Eaglish.
  18. he made some leaps for Josh, Edmunds, Diggs. I agree, if they need to move up 10- 15 spots, I'd love to see it, use that extra 2nd and a 1 or 2 next year
  19. Tack on even 1 void year (Philly has 4 on Barkley's new deal) and we're already down to $65M spread over 6 years, with cap hits around $5M-6M this year and next. Cook is not an Edmunds/Gabe Davis/Shaq Lawson. He is a very good/great player who happens to play a position thats market is in flux so folks have biases against the justifiable spend.
  20. Edmunds stunk. And still stinks. For a mid first round LB he had zero impact. That pick only strengthens the anti beane argument IMO traded up for no splash Edmund’s too
  21. Kincaid was thrown a lot of passes as a rookie but had very little impact. You often see teams force playing time on rookies they expected a lot of. But no receiver that begins at the LOS and had only a 9.2 yard per catch number nowadays, did anything remotely historic that season. That was sort of like the regular season Kelce had last year that people said was terrible and called him washed up. He has an age excuse. Kincaid was 25. That's PRIME age. He was supposed to be plug and play and has turned into at least a 3 year project. And the concept of a split-only TE like Kincaid really was as a rookie is fairly new so comparing his rookie season production to guys even 10 years ago is what is ridiculous. It's like comparing passing yardage and TD/INT ratio to 30-40 years ago. Edmunds was a failed trade up. He's an adequate first round pick but they also dealt a valuable second round pick to move up for him and he wasn't worth a second contract to the team. If you aren't deemed market worthy and they don't have an OBVIOUS replacement for you(which was the case when Edmunds left)....... then you probably weren't worth a first and second round pick. And we know why they didn't want to extend him. He lacks the instincts for the position that the far lesser size/speed athlete Bernard has in abundance. Yet Bernard got extended. EARLY. The Bills had Edmunds play out his 5 year deal and let a 24 year old veteran go for a reason. They even ate a big $11M+ cap hit in his option year to avoid extending him. As for noteworthy day 2 picks? What's your point? I never said he hasn't made some good day 2 picks. You are just making up a rebuttal to an argument that wasn't made. My point is simple........his itchy trade-up finger on day 1 and 2 has not yielded results they couldn't have expected by sticking and picking. I mean do you not think Fred Warner is better than Edmunds? Is LaPorta not as good as Kincaid? Metcalf/AJBrown/McLaurin all not better than frickin' Cody Ford? These were all worthwhile options at the time that they could have had without trade ups.
  22. Trumaine Edmunds takes casualties. It's reported that this woman passed after being reminded of the contract that the young Edmunds, 19 years old, signed with the Bears.
  23. trends change for sure. i think the thing you have to think about is free agency. You don’t have 1 competitor, you have 31. And they are really dictating price of X guys, collectively. And the laws of nature means that bad players will always outnumber the good ones and the great ones will be far and few between. You can’t build a roster of B+ players making B+ money because there will always be teams willing to pay them A money to steal them away. Heck, the Bills lost guys like Gabe and Edmunds to that not too long ago. Water will find its level, like it always does. RBs are still devalued, just not crazily so. WRs will still get paid a ton, but maybe a little less in the future
  24. Guaranteed money is all that matters. AAV is really for agents. Bernard just signed for HALF the guaranteed money Edmunds got with Chicago a couple years ago. Good deal.
  25. All our worthy players were extended before it was even a consideration with mixed results (Dawkins, Brown, Poyer, Hyde, Milano, T. White). I could easily see Cook going the Edmunds route next year. If some team wants to overpay for you, so be it.
