If Reid had Allen in place of Mahomes in KC, then they probably win some SB's. I doubt any of those coaches come to Buffalo today and win a SB. I doubt Allen is an elite QB if not brought into the organization that McD and Beane put in place.

Look what Mcvay did going from Geoff to Stafford. I would see that 10 fold with Allen and Kyle. I promise Kyle would kill for a guy like Stafford or Allen. Mcvay was at the same villa in Cabo or Stafford is likley a 49er. Thats why they gambled on Lance. They were looking for a guy who could attack all parts of the field. If Buffalo had a better play action game Allen would pass for 5,000 yards with the current run game they have.

Which you can certainly credit McD for. But the narrative that McD groomed Allen just never held up for me. In the early years they barely had a relationship. It was all Dabs. Allen worked a ton with Palmer. He was driven to be great. McD focused on his defense.

i mean inasmuch as running the ball means Allen by definition can't throw a pick on that play then yes, I agree runs tend to correlate w QBs turning the ball over less. But I will basically never agree that taking the ball out of Allen/Mahomes hands in service of preventing turnovers is a good concept offensively

This isn't tennis or boxing. It's a team game. And the fact remains that Mahomes has had a far better team around him and on the sidelines than Josh has. Put Allen on that chiefs team and they have even more success than they've already had. Mahomes: more accomplished Allen: more talented Up to you to decide what constitutes being better.

Last year an argument can be made that Allen did his best he could and Kincaid failed him. But then you can also say why didn't Allen recognize the perfect blitz the Chiefs were sending at the time? The year before, I really questioned Allen's decision to go for the end zone - I was thinking what Mahomes would do or Brady would do in that exact situation? Allen may never say it but I think that play may be one of those that drove him to make better decisions all of the 2024 season. I certainly hope Allen learned a lesson last year (there is something about making one less mistakes than the opponent) and keeps up this year and forward. In that sense, he closes the biggest gap between him and Mahomes/Brady. Speaking of Brady and making less mistakes than your opponents, isn't that the biggest strength of the GOAT? Pure football talent wise, Brady may rank outside of 100 of all QBs, and during his time in NFL, you can insert multiple QB names each year that analysts and fans said was better than Brady. Yet Brady won the most and that's what it counts at the end. For Mr. Joshua Patrick Allen, until he wins superbowls - yes probably needing more than one - no one should crown him the best QB.
