  1. Neither Beane nor McDermott is leaving IMO. Obviously, some soul searching needs to take place. I think the Bills need to address the impotence of their offensive and defensive lines. The defensive line seemed to be on the right track early in the season, but it has experienced a steady decline after Von Miller went down. The offensive line is OK against some opponents, but I don't know that the current personnel will ever be able to handle better defensive lines. We've all heard that Kromer is supposed to be such a great offensive line coach, but he hasn't materially improved this offensive line. Also, I'm still not sold on Devin Singletary. There are some running backs that seem able to make yards even with less effective offensive lines. I do have some issues with play calling. It seems to me as if Josh is attempting too many low percentage passes on third down. If the play doesn't connect, it ends the drive. That's been happening too often. On defense, I was shocked at how soft Buffalo's corners played Cincinnati's WRs at the start of the game. Cincinnati needed 5 yards for a first down, and Buffalo's CBs were playing 10 yards of the LOS. Time after time soft coverage led to easy completions in comparison to Cincinnati'e CBs who played tight the whole game. I don't know that Buffalo needs to scrap the whole scheme (which I can't see them doing with McDermott as HC) but they do need to change up some things-maybe mix in some more man and press coverage and some creative blitzing. The big thing is getting some elite guys on the D-line.
  2. This game may have an effect on the Bills' draft strategy.
  3. Cincinnati dominated the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense. Moreover, Cincinnati did it with mostly backups on the offensive line. They have to fix it if they want to take the next step.
  4. It makes things interesting, but I suspect if at all possible he'll still play. He'll still be dangerous too. Yes, it will affect his mobility, but the Bills can't let up (assuming they make it past Cincinnati.
  5. I love chess, and can't normally find anyone to play with. I still need to have breaks to eat and sleep, but I'm fine with playing 400 games.
  6. Some snow in the second half. I think it will be light and won't negatively impact the offenses that much.
  7. I think he'll have opportunity. The Bengals may try to take away the deep game, so Allen may end up throwing more underneath stuff - Beasley's specialty.
  8. Well, he's currently a fashionable pick for the Bills among a number of mock drafters. Many like him and a few suggest he's the best RB prospect to come out in a while. He could drop because he is a RB and RBs are not highly valued as first round picks. Ultimately it depends on how the first round plays out. Buffalo does have greater needs. Offensive line has been noted by posts in this thread, but as I see the first round it's not likely there will be a solid value on the offensive line available in the last 5 picks of the first round. There may be a solid value at safety available in that spot, but it's not a sure thing. Depending on what happens with Jordan Poyer's contract situation and free agency there could be a real need there. Buffalo could upgrade at WR, and there may be some value there late in round 1. I know it's cliche but Buffalo will probably go for best player available. There is at least a chance Robinson would be available and would be the BPA.
  9. We'll see what Buffalo does against a different defense than the one he faced versus Miami.
  10. Whatever the league might say, playing in England will never be a home game in terms of accessibility to the bulk of home town fans or in terms of an advantage in the game, estimated by oddsmakers to normally be worth about 3 points.
  11. I think it would be to Dorsey's long term benefit if he doesn't get the Panthers gig and stays with the Bills for a couple more years. He's a good OC, but he's still learning. I think he should probably have a little better handle on that role before he steps up to head coach. He's a young dude and should have chances in the future if he continues to show what he can do.
  12. At least it's not CBS, which broadcasts a lot more Bills games than Fox.
  13. Hopefully, McDaniels will hire some young guy who will be a "yes man" and use a completely different defensive scheme. We probably won't be that lucky though.
  14. This year, Buffalo had 8 home games. Next year, as you note, buffalo was to get 9 home games. As for me, I don't care that much, except that we have no idea who will broadcast that game. I can get most networks that broadcast NFL games except ESPN. If ESPN is the network for that game, I will miss it. For those who would relish 9 home games because they go to every one they can, Buffalo won't have a 9 game home schedule until 2025. Someone might not think that's very fair.
  15. Poyer and Edmunds are both going to get big money deals. Jordan Poyer is 31. Tremaine Edmunds is 24. I like them both, but if Buffalo can only sign one of them. . .
  16. Rumor, report, speculation or creating a "what if" scenario to get reactions?
  17. If he ends up in the broadcast booth, I hope it is for ESPN. I have cut the cable, and don't get ESPN.
  18. Clearly, Allen is an elite franchise QB. One of the traits that is so encouraging about him is the fact that he's always willing to face his mistakes and shortcomings, and work to correct them. Sometimes that has meant becoming a bit more daring. Sometimes it means reining in the gambling a bit. I'm sure he and Dorsey are evaluating the Miami game and will make some adjustments as a result.
  19. I looked up Broughton before I saw "correction" and thought, "now that's one heavy receiver." Patton certainly has some nice physical traits. Looking at his college draft report, it seems that at least some of his deficiencies could be coached out of him if he's got the right attitude.
  20. When I saw the thread title, I immediately thought, 60% certain. It'll be a tough game. I pick the Bills to win, but the Bengal present a lot of challenges.
  21. I think in that case it is a touchback and goes to the other team. It can only be a touchdown if a player from the other team touches the ball before it is downed in the end zone.
  22. I'm with you. Miami all the way. That way we can all watch as he hits the wall and implodes.
