  1. I think that the medical profession is very early in its research to define and understand this condition, to say nothing of treating it. Conditions affecting the brain are notoriously difficult to treat because when brain cells die, they're gone permanently. The remaining cells can produce new synapses (connections) to recover some lost functions but the brain's capacity to do this is limited. Success in rehabilitation in conditions like stroke so depends how mild or severe the damage is.
  2. The current regime at OBD must have done something right two turn a team mired in 2 decades of mediocrity into a perenial playoff team and division champion.
  3. Exactly. It is important for Buffalo to let the draft come to them, and not chase players who are poor values. There might be a good offensive lineman that will fall to them, but if the draft falls the way I expect, any offensive lineman they pick at #27 is going to be a reach. Steve Avila in round two might be more realistic.
  4. He's a sleeper, but he fits your criteria. Andrei Iosivas is from Princeton of all places and clocked a 4.43 40 at 6'3." That's not Randy Moss speed, but he's about as fast a big guy as there is in this draft. He's probably a mid-round draft pick.
  5. For me, the point of trading down is not to target a specific player, but to address a lack of value at #27 and a reasonable hope that there will be multiple players who would be a good and comparable value (to each other). At that slightly lower spot you'd be able to pick a player who was both a good value and at least somewhat of a need. Who that is depends on how the first round plays out, along with the top few picks of round 2. (I would not trade down too far - pick 10 in round 2 would be the very bottom and I'd rather be closer to #5.)
  6. Are the Bills moving on from Frazier, or are they going to use an interim arrangement in hopes that he returns to the coordinator position after a one year hiatus. If it is the latter, you can pretty much forget about hiring somebody from the outside.
  7. This presents a bit of a dilemma for the Bills. They have to decide how much they want Frazier after his "sabbatical." The also need to decide what the likelihood is of him deciding he wants to return after a year off. At 65 (in a year) he might decide he's had enough of the grind of coaching. As an articulate and somewhat charismatic personality, he could probably find a home in the media that was a lot less stressful and pays better. The Bills have to make that assessment because it might be difficult to maintain quality defensive coordination with temporary measures. If you promote from within, are you getting the best possible option? If McDermott takes on the role of coordinator for a year, will his other duties suffer? Is it even possible to hire a quality guy from the outside who would be willing to come in for a year with the term "interim" attached to his title? If you settle for a temporary solution to organize and coordinate your defense, is the defense going to suffer?
  8. Players wanna play. I understand that. Just because he's in the CFL doesn't mean he'll never get another shot in the NFL. Of course, there's no guarantee he will either, or that he would if he had stayed on the Bills practice squad.
  9. The Bills are definitely thinking Benford can move to safety. However, it's a bet they will and should hedge. I agree with those who think the Bills will likely pick a safety in the draft. I won't try and predict the round.
  10. It's possible Trenton Simpson will still be available when Buffalo picks, and that he would be BPA. He's a little smaller than Edmunds, but faster.
  11. I answered Broderick Jones. I think there is a chance he drops. I don't think Skoronski will drop. Jones is a bit raw, but very athletic and I think he is position versatile, that he can play any of four spots on the O-line. I don't know if he can play center. I wouldn't mind if Bijan Robinson were the pick. I also wouldn't mind Smith-Njigba or Hyatt at WR. I think Gibbs and Michael-Schmitz are reaches. I think Q. Johnsson and Addison are probably gone. I think Zay Flowers is a slot receiver, and I don't especially want to use a first round pick on a slot guy. Nor do I want to use a first round pick on a TE with Dawson Knox already on the roster. There are also a couple defensive players I wouldn't mind being Buffalo's pick. I almost think the best outcome could be a trade down. I think Buffalo might be able to get better value in the top third of round 2 than at #27.
  12. Interestingly, someone pointed out that Shakir had a higher drop rate than Gabe Davis last season. Now, I don't dislike Shakir and I don't recommend that Buffalo dump him, but both Shakir and Gabe Davis have a lot of growing to do. I hope working out with Moulds is helpful and that Gabe finds some way to improve his hands.
  13. Obviously, Dorsey is going to remain the Bills' OC next season. That's the right decision, but there is no guarantee he will straighten out the mistakes he made in 2022. I hope he does.
  14. Roschon Johnson is my sleeper RB for the Bills. The question is, when do you take him. Round one or two is obviously too high. When I've seen him rated, it's normally been in rounds 5-7, but he has elite traits and just might go earlier than the pundits think.. NFL Draft Scout estimates his 40 time at 4.34 (a low of 4.25 and a high of 4.42) NFL Draft Buzz estimates his 40 time at 4.39). Those are Saquon Barkley type numbers. There are also a couple of other running back possibilities for the Bills after Round 1. Zach Charbonnet out of UCLA. He's almost as big as Johnson and runs in the low 4.4s. The downside is he'll take a 2nd round pick to get him, and he might be gone by the time the Bills pick at the bottom of the second round. Zach Evans out of Old Miss is another one. His speed is similar to Charbonnet's. He's a little smaller, but still is a good sized back at 6' and 215. The Bills could get him in the third, or possibly the fourth round.
  15. He impressed at his pro day running a 4.44 at 6'2" and 206 lbs. Coming out of college, he was seen as lacking toughness and tackling ability. I would guess he needed to get a lot stronger. Where he is at this point in his development is anyone's guess. Worth a shot as a fringe player with possible upside.
  16. The move of Benford to safety seems likely. Jackson's trade value looks pretty limited IMO. Maybe he would bring a fifth round pick, but nothing any higher than that. A fifth may be optimistic. Elam is the only CB on the Bills roster who possesses serious speed. I think the Bills would be foolish to part with that.
  17. The odds of him returning have pretty much fizzled away. The only other big name free agent on the Bills'' roster is Poyer. I think he's worth trying to resign, but the Bills need to be careful on the contract length and the terms. They don't want to find themselves locked into a long term deal with a player whose play on the field has declined beneath the level of his compensation and is destined to fall further because of his age. Of course, if Edmunds leaves, that creates a hole on the roster that Buffalo needs to fill either through the draft or in free agency. It will take a high draft choice to get play that is close to what Edmunds has given the team regardless of what haters say.
  18. If Josh meant that literally, it would mean a lot of changes to the Bills that just don't look as if they are in the cards. Reid runs a version of the West Coast offense liberally enhanced with zone read option plays that were Pat Mahomes' staple in college. Buffalo is not going to adopt that. Kansas City isn't even the same from season to season. With the departure of big play receivers from their roster in the 2022 season, Kansas City adopted a predominantly short passing game, relying heavily on Travis Kelsay. So, what did Josh mean? I am not sure we could know unless we asked him. If I were to guess, I would say that he's probably talking about a commitment to excellence and the willingness to adapt to the skills of the players you have. I'm not sure that the secret to winning multiple Super Bowls is all that complex, but I do think that a team can do everything the way they should and still not get to the Super Bowl, not to even mention win it. That's because there are other good teams trying to use a very similar formula to reach, then win the Super Bowl. On top of everything else, teams need a certain amount of luck.
  19. I'm not sure it's impossible that the Bills sign OBJ, but given the cap situation, it would be really tough, and would hamper the Bills' efforts to retain Poyer or Edmunds or both, not to mention ruining any effort to sign another meaningful free agent. Adam Henry sounds like a good hire regardless. H'e got pleny on his resume.
  20. The schedules of Miami, the Jets and NE are technically tougher because it is tougher for them to play buffalo than for Buffalo to play them. Throw out the game with each other, and I think it's likely, Buffalo's schedule is tougher than those of the Bills' AFC East opponents. That's the way the league has designed scheduling to work. The better a team's record, the tougher their non division schedule is supposed to be.
  21. I'm not smart enough to make a prediction. I do have a feeling that Khalil has something of an opportunity in the slot. I'm not writing Gabe Davis off on the outside, but the pressure is on him to breakout in a major way if he wants to hold on to that #2 receiver spot.
  22. Not at all. Regarding Daboll, I think it's easier for a really good coach to create some instant success as long as there is a modicum of talent on the team, than for a really good coach to emerge from that small group of teams that are really good and win the Super Bowl. Zac Taylor and Andy Reid are obviously very good coaches. There are a few other too that are trying to get in the big game from the AFC every year. Please don't read that as complacency that Buffalo has only made it to the divisional round for a while now. I'm just saying that McDermott had quick success in Buffalo too, and quick success doesn't necessarily mean Daboll is a better head coach.
  23. I think there is a chance that Buffalo drafts Robinson. I don't think he's the only RB who could come in and upgrade the spot that Singletary will leave if he doesn't re-sign. I've just recently become intrigued by Roschon Johnson. He's got excellent size, and at least some people think he's 4.4 fast. The question is where to draft him. One website lists him as a 7th rounder, which seems odd given his physical traits. I've seen him mocked to the Bills in the third round. I don't know if that's too high, but he sure looks to me like he's got a higher ceiling than Devin Singletary or Zach Moss, who both went in the third round.
