  1. I would be happier if he were 2 or 3 inches taller for outside work, but on balance it's a solid signing. He makes the receiver group better.
  2. At DT, Oliver, Sanders, Walker are locks and probably figure into the Bills' future beyond 2025. Daquan Jones is a lock in my opinion to start the season. More than likely he finishes the season with the Bills, but I don't know that it is a lock that he do so. Carter probably makes the team, but it's less certain he finishes the season with the team. Logue is PS material. He's got to show something to warrant more than that. Ogunjobe's future with the team after his suspension probably depends on what DeWayne Carter can show at 1 tech. Obviously, the intention of the Bills to try Carter out at 1 tech despite the fact he's underweight for the position indicates they probably aren't very happy with what he showed at 3 tech. Since he is a bit undersized, I think, makes him a long shot to be in the long term plans of the Bills. Using him at 1 tech sounds like a last chance to me. So, here's my depth chart at DT for the Bills to start the season- 1 tech: Daquan Jones - Deone Walker - Dewayne Carter 3 tech: Ed Oliver - T J Sanders Carter will also be available to take some snaps at 3 tech. When Ogunjobe's suspension is over, he could essentially step in and fill Carter's role if Carter fails his 1 tech tryout. If Carter is great in his new role, then maybe the Bills send Ogunjobe packing. At DE, Rousseau and Jackson are locks who figure into the Bills' long term plans. Bosa is a lock this season, as long as he's healthy. I think The Bills like Javon Solomon as a pass rusher, and he may get a few more opportunities to show what he can do. I think Epenesa is safe to start the season. He's dependable but not flashy. The Bills would like more, but they aren't going to throw him away until they know they've got a potential upgrade. When Hoecht comes off his suspension, things will get a bit muddy. If Bosa is still healthy, he obvious owns a roster spot. That leaves one or two roster spots for Epenesa, Solomon and Hoecht. Hoecht has the body of a DT, but ran a 4.65 40 in the pre-draft process five years ago. If Hoecht can give the Bills more than Steady Epe, I could easily se Buffalo parting ways with Epenesa, hopefully with a trade the nets Buffalo something in the process. If the Bills feel like they can't part with Epenesa, they might end up cutting Solomon at that point, or of Both Solomon and Epenesa are showing enough, maybe Hoecht never gets a real shot at the team. My depth chart for DE looks like this- LDE: Rousseau - Jackson - (Hoecht) RDE: Bosa - Epenesa - Solomon If the Bills part ways with Epenesa after Hoecht is activated, I think the Bills might flip Jackson to RDE.
  3. He won't make the 53 man squad, but I wouldn't rule out the PS again. I don't know that we've heard anything about what the Bills might think of him.
  4. Ran a 4.55 40 at the combine, so, not especially.
  5. I agree on Solomon over Carter. There's nobody like Solomon on the roster, a smallish edge rusher with great explosion and bend on the edge
  6. The exception being Jacksonville in London.
  7. I'm drooling over Nyck Harbor. I'm seeing him listed at 6'5" 235 and running a 4.24 40. Essentially, he's bigger and faster than Megatron. That's hard to do.
  8. I assume Beane traded up for Sanders because he had reason to believe another team was interested in him. Given that Ogunjobe is out until late October on suspension and Carter is being tried at 1 tech, there certainly was a need. Obviously, Beane valued Sanders well above Collins and Josh Farmer and anyone else they could have considered between pick 41 and pick 56When the Bills do something in the draft, I tend not to rush to judgment. He had his reasons. Time is the only judge of whether or not it was a good move whose decision carries any weight.
  9. I don't think so myself. It's not that he's a great player, and maybe not even a good one anymore, but he's the only veteran guy on the team that has natural 1 tech size. Hopefully, Deone Walker has a very bright future, but I can't see the Bills trusting him to be "the man" right out of the gate. The Bills have a history of trusting what they know, even if what they know is only average or a little less. If Jones falls on his face, the Bills may be forced to dump him and try something different, but they are not going to let Walker start until they are sure he can handle it. They sure aren't going to start Carter or Zion Logue and I'm pretty sure they are planning for TJ Sanders to be in a rotation with Oliver at 3 tech.
  10. I kind of agree with you. Essentially, early in round one, you want to find a high floor, high ceiling prospect. Later on, if you see a guy who has a high ceiling, he's probably going to have a low floor. That might be due to deficiencies in technique or skill set, medical or character questions etc. You also might choose a high floor low ceiling guy. That might be due to athletic or size limitations. You might be getting a real solid player, but you're extremely lucky if that player turns out to be a superstar.
  11. The 1 tech room is not at all crowded. The Bills have Daquan Jones who is 34 years old. After him they have Carter, who is trying to switch to 1 tech after a less than promising season in 2024. He was listed at 305 lbs and might have to add some weight to avoid getting pushed around on run downs. Then they have Zion Logue who found a home on the Bills' PS. When Ogunjobe comes back from suspension, I think he would probably compete more at 3 tech. The depth chart probably looks something like this: 3 Tech Ed Oliver - TJ Sanders - (Ogunjobe) 1 tech Daquan Jones - Deone Walker - Dewayne Carter - Zion Logue Zion Logue probably ends up on the PS again. Carter may make the team in a depth role as a fifth DT. He should be able to take some reps at both 1 tech and 3 tech. He'll have a few weeks to prove he deserves a roster spot. When Ogunjobe comes off his suspension either he or Carter is done. I wouldn't call that crowded. Best case scenario is that Buffalo greatly upgrades their interior line rotation. Ed Oliver finds his fire and Daquan Jones becomes more effective with more rest.
  12. Hopefully the drafting of TJ Sanders will light a fire under him. There is a theory out there that ineffectiveness of aging Daquan Jones might have made Oliver less effective. If Deone Walker picks up the Bills' defense quickly, hopefully he can contribute beneficial reps at 1 tech.
  13. I would have thought Bean would get himself some holdout insurance on Cook by drafting somebody. They would be OK in training camp anyway. If Cook does hold out into the season, Buffalo can still rotate Johnson and Davis. Evans and Gore Jr. would compete for the third spot. I'm not high on Gore Jr. I think he's a scrub with a famous name. If necessary, Buffalo can search for a diamond in the rough from among other teams' cuts.
  14. Depth at slot. It's hard to imagine the Bills cutting bait with Shakir or moving him to mostly outside play. Maybe Moore could be effective in gadget plays.
  15. Maybe add a little at a time. Is 5 lbs too much to add for the 2025 season.
  16. I think typically a big nickel is pretty much a 4-3 alignment but with one linebacker switched out for a hybrid LB/safety. Because Taron Johnson is so effective in run support, the Bills have not really felt the need to sub in a hybrid LB/safety.
  17. I gave them a B+. They I think they mostly got good value in their picks. They waited too long to try and snag some speed for the WR position. I thought they might have wanted to draft a bit of insurance in case James Cook decided to stage a holdout. If Cook reports and plays they'll be fine at RB, but I don't think Ray Davis has the same big play ability. Ty Johnson might be able to shoulder more of a load. Darrynton Evans is kind of an unknown. Honestly, I don't see Frank Gore Jr. as much more than a fringe guy with a famous name. I also worry that Walker might not be as NFL ready as is needed. I think they also could have added some competition at linebacker. Oh well, they can't have everything.
  18. Buffalo doesn't have to worry about Ogunjobi until late October. I don't see him as a replacement for Daquan Jones. He might get a few rotational reps at 1 tech when he comes back from suspension, but as a 300 lb guy he just doesn't have the body mass to hold up as the main guy at the 1 tech spot. Ed Oliver is not going anywhere. He's the presumptive starting 3 tech guy in September. TJ Sanders isn't going anywhere either. He and Oliver will be the primary 3 techs. I think DaQuan Jones is going to remain with the Bills at least at the start of the season. He's the only true veteran 1 tech on the team. Carter looks like he's going to get some 1 tech reps. Maybe he can bulk up some to handle the different demands of 1 tech as opposed to 3 tech. Ten or fifteen pounds might make a big difference. Deone Walker needs lots of coaching. Unless he's a super quick learner, I don't see him getting more than a handful of reps in games. The only other true 1 tech on the team is Zion Logue, the UDFA from a year ago who landed a PS spot last season. He's a lot like Walker, tall and raw, though a bit lighter. I don't know that he's any more ready to step in and take a regular rotation than Walker. I think Walker will get a spot on the 53 because the Bills won't want to risk somebody signing him from the PS. The bottom line is I think the Bills are stuck with Daquan Jones for the time being. They will fill in with Walker and Carter to give him rest. On some obvious passing downs I could see Oliver and Sanders together in the middle of the line. At defensive end, Rousseau is the best holdover they have. He and Bosa would make a nice pair of bookends. That's assuming Bosa can stay healthy. I think the Bills believe Jackson can play a significant role in rotation. So can Hoecht when he gets past his suspension. Epenesa is a guy we all love to hate. Once in a while he flashes, but most of the time he's invisible. I think he says for the time being, not because he's great, but because he's a known quantity. That may change when Hoecht comes off his suspension. I think the Bills are hoping that Javon Solomon continues to develop and a smallish edge bending pass rusher. He's the only guy like that the Bills have. BTW, I think Hoecht will also take some snaps as a DT on obvious passing downs.
  19. He played both safety and nickel corner in college, so Yes.
  20. I got confused by some posters who posted lists of guys they would like the Bills to sign.
  21. Size wise, Jenkins leans more toward safety at 211 lbs. Speed is good for a LB and average for a safety.
  22. Isaiah Neyor has terrific measurables. The scouting report is a bit bizarre. He runs 4.4 40 AT 6'4" but NFL Draft Buzz says, "He is quicker than fast and lacks elite wheels to simply blow by defenders." and "He is quicker than fast and lacks elite wheels to simply blow by defenders." and "Does not own elite speed." I wonder if he might just need someone to figure out where his "on switch" is and get him turned on.
  23. Sorry. Missed it. Go ahead and merge.
  24. Sorry, I looked for this and missed it.
