  1. You are correct. The game against Cincinnati is critical for that reason.
  2. As with all QBs, the more time opposing defensive coordinators have to study them, the more clearly their weaknesses can be defined. The less complete a QB is, the easier it is for defensive coordinators to identify and attack his weaknesses. In the meantime, young QBs are working to shore up the weak parts of their game, but QBs with obvious physical deficiencies have more limits on things they can improve. Tua is on the small side, hot terribly mobile and doesn't have a super strong arm. He's smart and generally makes quick reads, but he's got enough weaknesses that teams are always going to be able to exploit them to some extent.
  3. I affirm what zow and Boatdrinks are saying. The first tiebreaker is head to head results. Buffalo has the tiebreaker over KC already. A win over Buffalo gives Cincinnati the tiebreaker over Buffalo, and they already have it over KC. Had these three teams not played each other, there are a bunch of other tiebreakers they can go to in order to determine the seeding in the playoffs.
  4. Burrows is not the athletic QB that is in vogue around the league (Allen, L Jackson, Hurts, Fields and others) but he's not the statue some would make him out to be. He is successful running on occasion, and has a feel for moving around the pocket like a younger Tom Brady. Still, losing your starting RT is a big deal. It will make it easier for Rousseau to get to Burrows next Monday.
  5. It almost seems as if he's a better match for the Rams' offensive system than Stafford. If I were Sean McVay, I'd think long and hard about signing Mayfield long term and cutting bait on Stafford.
  6. If Cook can maintain his speed and quickness, I'd like to see him gain about 10 lbs of muscle in the off season. He would definitely be my #1 RB next season. He just seems to be more consistent at finding holes to get past the LOS. Sometimes Singletary does, and sometimes it looks like he just runs into a pile of bodies.
  7. I feel the same way, but even if they have made that decision, there's no guarantee they'll find their franchise QB any time soon. They are tough to identify with assurance, and even if you correctly identify a college prospect as a future franchise QB, it's possible IMO (and Gunner Bill's) to screw up the handling of that youngster so he never develops properly. Judging by the LA Rams' success with Baker Mayfield, it's possible both Cleveland and Carolina did that with Mayfield. The Jets almost certainly mishandled Darnold, as they mishandled Geno Smith. He's been better lately for Carolina. As with Mayfield, it's too soon to tell if Darnold can actually get his career back on track. Geno Smith is looking like a serviceable starter with Seattle, finally. So that means the Jets have struck out on franchise QBs, going 0-3 identifying and developing a guy who can actually fill the role, two of them being top 5 picks.
  8. His mental processing was too slow. He ended up holding the ball too long. Mike White is smart and can probably keep the team competitive, but his lack of physical tools will keep the Jets looking for somebody who can be the complete package. Tha's a good thing.
  9. I think the plan is to stay in Chicago tonight. I think they could probably fly back to Rochester tomorrow. The airport is about 7 minutes from where I live. I haven't heard if the state has made any statements about when the Thruway will reopen.
  10. I will pick the Bills to win, but you're definitely right about needing their A-Game to come back to life. I think it will help that they will be playing in much warmer temperatures in Cincinnati
  11. Well, I have never been into tailgating, so I can't speak to that. I have attended only half a dozen games over my adult life. In the stands, I never saw any overt abuse, verbal or physical of fans wearing jerseys or the colors of other teams. The lone exception was a Monday night game against the Jets in the early 1980s. I no longer remember the exact year. The Bills played poorly, and the beer flowed freely. There were numerous fights all around my friend and I in the stands. I assume any Jets fans in the stands bore the brunt of the Bills fans' drunken rage. That, however, was 40 years ago.
  12. Asbury Theological Seminary, in Wilmore, KY, about 16 miles SSW of Lexington.
  13. There is one team in the NFL with a better record than Buffalo. There are two other teams with the same record as Buffalo. There are 6 teams with more first team pro bowlers than Buffalo. Such is the curse of a small market team.
  14. Like most everyone else, I think Milano should have gotten a spot. First alternate is pretty good though. Also, like others, I'm surprised Roger Saffold got named as a third alternate.
  15. Honestly, Josh Allen has been very happy with just about everything at OBL. Even if he did fancy playing under a dome, he probably would keep that preference very quiet, knowing it's not going to happen, and keeping quiet helps maintain good feelings all the way around.
  16. Cooper Rush single handedly eliminated Dak from any future consideration as league MVP.
  17. I'm not giving it too much weight. Diggs' career has taken off during his stay in Buffalo, and he's been ranked among the top receivers in the league. Right now, Diggs is ranked third in the league in both receptions and yardage, behind Justin Jefferson and Tyreek Hill. Given the likelihood of foul weather games over the last three weeks of the season, Diggs is probably not going to climb in the rankings anyway. Lastly, the Bills are on a five game winning streak. Diggs may have an occasional bout of passion, but if he thinks about it for about two seconds, he's got to realize that he has very little reason to complain.
  18. Fields is not on the injury report for Tuesday. Forget any notion he's going to miss the game. II think Fields is still developing. In a couple years, it could be very scary to face him. I respect his skills now. The wind is going to make passing an adventure, assuming the game is played as scheduled. Fields is on a pace to have the most running yards in a single season by a QB, so Buffalo needs to respect that ability. The Bills demonstrated they have plenty of work to do in the way of run defense in the game against Miami.
  19. After the Chicago game there was no talk at all about a Fields injury. To the contrary, Fields himself is talking about going for the single season record for running by a QB, currently held by Lamar Jackson. He needs to average 70 yards per game over their last three games to make it. Possessing a very solid running back in David Montgomery, Chicago is a dangerous team on offense, and Buffalo needs to crank up their discipline several notches on defense.
  20. I assume that Monday becomes Chicago's day off rather than the usual Monday routine, which I believe consists of meetings and film work. They'll do practice on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday like Buffalo. Buffalo probably had meetings and film work today.
  21. Agree. It's going to be another challenging weather day for the game. No precipitation that I've seen, but that wind is going to play havoc with deep passes. Staying warm and loose is going to be a huge challenge.
  22. I'm very concerned about the Bills' inability to stop the run against certain opponents, and the utter ineffectiveness of the Bills' running offense through most of the game. I'm glad Singletary finally enjoyed some production in the 4th quarter, but when the run game is that bad, it puts a lot of pressure ono the passing offense.
  23. I had not TV, so, I'm hesitant to say too much, but it sure sounded as if Lewis made a huge bonehead play. His positive contributions to the team are so negligible, I wouldn't think it would take too many boneheaded plays for him to find himself stocking groceries at Tops.
