  1. Not seeing anything from the Patriots or Jets to make me tremble at the prospect of playing them.
  2. Good to see you posting, Ice Bowl. Yeah, Green Bay has had a tough season. I haven't followed too closely, but I assume there are a number of reasons. If I were to guess, it starts with Aaron Rodgers' salary handicapping the team's ability to sign quality free agents. He also may be starting his decline as a player due to age. I know from our experience with the Bills that there can be a dry period while a team tries to find and develop a new franchise QB. I know you haven't seen enough of Jordan Love to know if he's the guy who can replace Rodgers when Rodgers leaves or not.
  3. Allen's team is also in a better position. I think that counts for something in the selection process.
  4. Aaron Rodgers is one of the most talented QBs in the NFL. He may be top 5 all time, at least top 10. He's also got a history of demonstrating arrogance. I think Green Bay fans and teammates recognize and to a degree accept his arrogance even if they might not like it. He's given Green Bay one Super Bowl win and a competitive team for years. As a Bills fan, Iam glad we have Josh Allen as the Bills QB. I think his talent is at least comparable, he is a great team mate and he treats fans better than Aaron Rodgers ever dreamed of doing. Add to that the fact that he has far more of his career ahead of him than Rodgers does at this point. I think Green Bay's run with Rodgers is almost over if not already history. Buffalo's run with Josh Allen is still in its early stages. Just in time for me as a septuagenarian, to enjoy some great years as a Bills fan before I go on to better things.
  5. I think that when they joined the Bills, both Allen and Daboll were quality persons with untapped upside, though Daboll had developed as a coach far more than Allen as a young player. Daboll had a key role in helping Allen develop, even as he honed his own skills as an offensive coordinator and future head coach. I think Both are outstanding at what they do. Ken Dorsey is about where Daboll was when he joined the Bills' staff. Someday, he's going to get a head coaching gig of his own. It doesn't have to be a question of "either/or." In fact, in a quality organization like the Bills, it will often be "both."
  6. I am entirely in favor of adding a quality running back, IF it can be done without spending a lot of draft capital or throwing future cap management out of whack. I have my doubts that it can be done with those constraints during the season, but if Beane can find the right deal. . . It's definitely on the table in the next off season.
  7. I'm glad the Packers have a game this week after laying an egg last week. They could be dangerous this week as I think they have a lot of pride and were embarrassed by their play in the last game. It's not a huge issue though. I think that ultimately, it's talent that wins games. If they're not good enough, they won't threaten the Bills just because they're pissed.
  8. I thought it was interesting that the Chiefs posted video of the Chris Jones' trip of Allen as a game highlight on their web site. I guess if it wasn't called. . .
  9. I believe that both Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield were badly misshandled, but I'm still glad the Browns and Jets left Allen for the Bills to select. I believed from the beginning that he had more physical talent than any other QB in that draft. It was just a question of whether the Bills could help Josh get past the issues that led other teams to avoid him. I'm not sure if Rosen might have done any better regardless of where he ended up. Baltimore handled Lamar Jackson well. He has exceeded my expectations. I think Josh Allen has exceeded the expectations of even his most ardent supporters.
  10. Confirmed on the Thursday night football broadcast on Amazon Prime.
  11. I follow mock drafts year around. I've mostly seen interior offensive linemen and safeties mocked to the Bills late in the first round. I've also seen a stray WR or running back mocked to them as well, but that's pretty rare.
  12. This looks to be a major rivalry for the next decade. Buffalo and KC are likely to meet just about every year in the regular season. as both teams are likely to win their divisions multiple times in the years ahead. (as per the league formula for determining the schedule). The playoffs are less certain, of course. I need a blowout win by the Bills to help me recover from the tension of the KC game though.
  13. Buffalo Rumblings was a lot kinder to Siran Neal than PFF and a lot of other observers. IIn their opinion, while Neal lost some battles to Kelsey, he also won enough to help the Bills. Kelsey had a solid day receiving, with 8 catches for 108 yards (or thereabouts - my memory is not clear on the exact number). On the other hand, Kelsey had no TD catches. Buffalo Rumblings analyzes a number of plays where Neal's coverage on Kelsey prevented Mahomes from completing or making a pass to Kelsey. All 22 analysis of Siran Neal defending against Travis Kelsey
  14. Of course, that 78% double team rate means that most of the time a player is not available to help block at another position, say defensive end, where Von Miller and Greg Rousseau are racking up a healthy number of sacks.
  15. Copy cat strategies only work if you have the right personnel. Matt Milano, being as good as he is reading and anticipating , combined with his quickness, makes the spying tactic work for the Bills. I suspect some teams don't have the guy who can make it work.
  16. Unlike some posters, I'm not down on Buffalo doing "cutesy" things down near the goal line. I think creativity is a factor in what has made Buffalo's offense so potent over the last three years. I think it is simply a matter of executing plays more consistently. Occasional mistakes are probably unavoidable, but players need to make plays a lot more than they miss plays. Josh Allen misses them once in a while, but he makes them a lot more often. Isaiah McKenzie had a really bad game. He needs to redeem himself, and if he can't demonstrate he can be more consistent on the good side, his days as the starting slot receiver are numbered.
  17. He's somewhat more athletic than Levi Wallace, and it turns out he's also smart and disciplined as well. With Tre White coming back, Buffalo has a quality CB room with plenty of great depth too. More evidence of Brandon Beane's team building acumen.
  18. I'll try to keep up with the rest of the division and the rest of the divisions as well. I have to keep up with the pickem league too. That's been fun since I'm up pretty high on the leader board.
  19. "Please don't pull my fingernails off. I can't tell you any more about Ken Dorsey's offense. They cut me because I'm a slow learner."
  20. I knew you'd be showing ups sooner or later, Spags. I don't feel the need to talk a lot of smack. I'll just wait until after the game and say "I told you so."
  21. Is it not possible that Daboll and Dorsey are great coaches and Allen is a great QB?? Heck, that might mean that McDermott and Beane are great at evaluating talent and hiring/drafting/signing the right people.
  22. I suppose it's going to be up to the Bills to deliver a smackdown to the Jets and us to deliver a smackdown to Spags when he shows up.
