  1. I can't give you numbers, but I did hear that even though he wouldn't take a pay cut from the Broncos, he took less than his old contract to sign with the Bills. This is a sound signing. Martin's leg may not be freaky, but is certainly above average, maybe well above average. He's said to be a capable holder of field goals and extra points, and he's good a directional punts a pins a lot of opponents inside the 20. Most importantly, he's consistent.
  2. I don't have a horse in this race. The Bills should sweep the division. That's all that matters.
  3. Cooper Kupp is kind of a unicorn. He is an outstanding receiver with terrific ball skills, yet he has only fair athleticism. He's slow for a receiver and not quick or abrupt in his cuts, yet he still gets open. He's got good size at 6'2", but he's not the physical monster that some receivers are. It seems to me as if the secret to defending him is more mental than physical. I don't think that the cornerback who defends him has to be the fastest guy around. He does have to be a student of the game and willing to do the film study to help him understand Kupp's little tricks, and how to defend them.
  4. I lasted quite a while on survivor last year. Hopefully, I can go further this year.
  5. He also put the Denver opponents inside the 20 on a lot of his punts, which tends to hold down your average distance, but is a valuable skill.
  6. OK, so he can putt. I want to know if he can drive the football deep when punting from his 5 yard line.
  7. Owens, like many young players has talent and upside, but needs development. Buffalo has guys with talent who are far more developed. They just don't have room on the 53 man roster. Talent poor teams always have room.
  8. I'm sure he'd like to. Trades are very difficult to do as final cutdown looms. Other teams know you're going to have to cut some guys who can play, and don't like to part with draft picks. They have to be convinced a guy is worth giving up a pick rather than taking a chance a player they like might become available for them to sign.
  9. I'm sure one thing that weighed on the Bills is the fact that Araiza knew he had this skeleton in the closet and did not inform the Bills in the pre-draft process. I'm sure the Bills asked him at some point in one form or another, Is there anything in your off field past that could become an embarrassment to you and the Bills should we draft you?" Whether he is innocent or guilty, he was aware that accusations had been made before he was drafted, and he chose to remain silent.
  10. They cannot based solely on a civil lawsuit, but I believe they can if he ends up being charged. It's all a moot point. Araiza will go through this, and if he is exonerated, he'll have a chance to resume his football career with somebody. Otherwise, he's gone for good
  11. OK - with Araiza gone, Buffalo has some time before they settle on a new punter. They can wait for other teams' cuts or sign one of the free agents that are available. In another thread, somebody suggested Bruce Kern, currently with the Titans, might get cut. Buffalo Rumblings has a short list of free agents. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2022/8/27/23324591/list-of-free-agent-punters-for-buffalo-bills-to-sign-michael-palardy-matt-araiza
  12. There are some available free agent punters. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2022/8/27/23324591/list-of-free-agent-punters-for-buffalo-bills-to-sign-michael-palardy-matt-araiza The Bills don't need to make any sort of definitive decision on Araiza until about September 7th. They can bring in punter candidates for tryouts and tell the one they like to be ready if they call. By then they'll need to decide if the evidence warrants cutting him, or if they should go ahead and play him, or keep him on the 53 man roster as an inactive, while signing a temporary punter to handle the job while waiting for Araiza's court case (or court cases if he is charged) and possibly league action to give them more of an indication where things are ultimately headed.
  13. I'm not ready to cut bait. I want to see the legal process move along. The incident is alleged to have happened last October. Araiza still hasn't been charged. He denies that it took place. I don't understand why he hasn't been charged if there is clear evidence beyond the girl's accusation. If, as the picture becomes clearer, it looks as if he is guilty, then it's time to cut bait. At this point, though, there is still a chance that the Bills, and the football world could be denying an innocent person the opportunity to make his mark in the NFL. If he's as good as he appears to be, the Bills can carry him as an inactive on the 53 man roster. He's worth that.
  14. Not having seen a practice, I can't answer the question posed by the OP. Based on what I've seen in games, Keenum seems to throw with more zip than Barkley. IIn the game versus the Panthers, both Keenum and Barkley were under a lot of pressure as the backup offensive linemen stunk the stadium up, but between the two of them, Keenum seemed to be more rattled by pressure than Barkley, but neither was up to the task on Friday evening. If they can protect him, I think Keenum is probably the better option.
  15. My only concern is that until Tre White comes back and demonstrates he is unaffected by his injury, Buffalo is without their top corner. Dane Jackson, Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford have all played at or above expectations when they've been on the field, but none of them are Tre White. A team with a top notch WR could give Buffalo trouble.
  16. Indy is getting themselves a fine holder.
  17. But Mac Jones impressed Belichick with the improvement he's made.
  18. Designed runs are part of what makes Allen so effective. I think I saw Allen take more hard hits staying in the pocket than I ever saw him taking when running the ball. He should never try to be a Michael Vick, but I'm fine with him making an occasional run that might be the difference between winning and losing.
  19. Even if that is the case, Buffalo has too many offensive linemen, and turning a non-starter or two into draft picks is only common sense.
  20. Indications from McDermott are that Brown will not be starting in September. He hasn't practiced much due to his recovery from surgery. As a young player he needs to get more practice in. It sounds almost as if he'll need to earn his way back into the starting lineup.
  21. Kudos for the humor, but the reality is the Carolina connection is liable to decrease as time passes. Nobody from the management and coaching staff remains from the time that Beane and McDermott were with the team, and few of the players are left with whom Beane and McDermott would have any familiarity.
  22. I'm also in favor of the league allowing the Bills to keep a 65 man roster.
  23. He'll probably make out OK in any case. At the very least he'll have a paycheck on the PS, with a good chance another team signs him at some point.
  24. Agreed. I'd like to see Araiza execute a pooch punt or directional punt out of bounds to pin an opponent deep. We know Haack can punt it short.
  25. I only attend games rarely. Part of that is cost. It I get priced out of the market, so be it.
