  1. I understand the reasoning for Singletary deciding to go down. I don't agree with it. With snow and wind, even a short field goal attempt is not a sure thing. Going the other way, under the declining field and weather conditions, it was very unlikely for Tua and the Dolphins to be able to pull a Pat Mahomes type finish.
  2. I know that is the downside. Maybe some non-contact drills, something with limited risk of injury-just enough to get a feel for coping with the slipperiness.
  3. Here's a thought. Too late for the game tomorrow, but one of the biggest issues for the game may be footing with heavy snow falling during the game. I'm sure the equipment people for the team will look for the best footwear they can for slippery conditions, but there is only so much you can do. When the Bills know they are going to have slippery conditions for the game, perhaps part of the preparation for the game should include using footwear during practice that doesn't give them great footing. There's been no snow on the practice field, no way to duplicate the likely poor footing with actual snow and ice, but why not try and get close with their footwear? Wouldn't the receivers be better off if they have a feel for when they are likely to slide? If they have a feel for it, then they can better prepare for it. Likewise, players at just about any position would theoretically be better off if they had developed a feel through practice when they are likely to slide, and how to compensate for it. McDermott held the practice sessions outside this week. That's a lot more realistic than the Dolphins could achieve by cranking the AC up. Still, if McDermott had put his team in footwear that could slide some on the turf, they would have a far better feel for what they can do on the field Saturday evening.
  4. I agree. I was seeing a lot more drops from Bills receivers than I was from Jets receivers.
  5. He's a clear upgrade from Lotulelei. That's the important thing for me.
  6. It's better that they practice outside all week than not, but the conditions during the week will be nothing like game conditions in terms of the precipitation and wind, which sound as if they could be blizzard like.
  7. Wrong lake, Yolo, though Orchard Park is still going to get socked.
  8. A little turnabout would be nice. I'm assuming the visitors' locker room in Miami had air conditioning, so it might not be totally fair to shut off the heat in the visitors' locker room in Orchard Park. Miami can certainly be responsible for providing their own sideline heaters.
  9. The nice thing about Milano's multiple hits on White in the game is the likelihood that White is going to remember Milano in the future, if he happens to be on the field versus the Bills again. It's not a huge thing, but if it can cause him to hesitate and be looking to protect himself, even for an instant, it might be the difference between success and failure on some plays.
  10. For me, I expect it will be John Murphy. Eric Woods is doing color with Murph still, isn't he, or is it Steve Tasker?
  11. It's true, national sources can sometimes miss lake effect events. I did check the NWS Buffalo web site. They aren't being very specific yet about lake effect this weekend beyond saying the potential exists for a significant event. They're saying they can't pin down locations and timing yet.
  12. Doesn't look like a major show event at this point, but in addition to a few inches of snow, it does look windy - again.
  13. If Brady continues to play after this season, he will only hurt his legacy.
  14. Maybe. I would say definitely in the first few games after the injury happened. It ought to be less of a factor now.
  15. I wouldn't say Josh was great today. He definitely has more experience with frozen precipitation than Tua though.
  16. Josh Allen had that rough patch where he through too many interceptions. With the weather turning miserable, I think he's trying to be cautious, maybe too much so at times. Or maybe it's Dorsey who's being cautious. There will certainly be a game coming up where Buffalo needs to be able to compete in a shootout, Cincinnati, if not Miami. The Bills will also need their offense to be running smoothly in the playoffs.
  17. It was frustrating at times to watch. Lots of drops by receivers for Buffalo (compared to the Jets who seemed more sure handed), along with drive killing penalties. Josh seemed to be rather conservative with his passing compared to Mike White. I believe White attempted and made more passes over 20 yards. Still the weather made it tough for both offenses. Under the circumstances, I'm very happy with the win. The Jets are in the playoff hunt, and Buffalo won. It's all good. I do hope Buffalo's receivers can find something sticky to smear on their hands when the ball is cold and wet.
  18. Once Frazier figured out that Klein is not Milano and adjusted to Klein's limitations, Klein became productive in this defense. There is a drop off, but it is more manageable now. Having Poyer over Johnson is huge, as is the return of Tre White. Really, both teams are quite different from what they were when the Jets last beat buffalo. Buffalo is without Miller and Jordan Phillips on defense, but I think on balance, they have a little more on defense than they had before. The Jets of course, have Mike white starting at QB rather than Zach Wilson. Generally speaking, Mike White seems to be smarter than Wilson, but has far less in the way of natural physical gifts. The thing is, I think Zach Wilson played just about his best game against Buffalo. I don't know that White can improve on what White did. The weather on Sunday is going to be less than ideal. Both teams will have trouble trying to throw the ball deep. It's going to come down to which team does a better job of sustaining long drives, and which defense can force the most mistakes. I'm a homer, but I don't care. I think Buffalo wins a tough game.
  19. The Jets have real good cornerbacks and the weather will be much less than ideal. I'm hoping Gabe Davis can cut down on his drops, but I think Buffalo needs to get more production from Knox and Josh also needs to be ready to throw some short passes to his running backs, particularly Cook. With the right game plan Josh might make 300 yards passing, but I don't that getting big yards for Josh is or should be the goal.
  20. I hope Frazier gets his opportunity to be a head coach again. He's a quality coach and a better person. I'm wondering who would be the replacement? I think McDermott is probably immutable in his belief that his scheme is the one the Bills should run. That would translate IMO to the bills not hiring a DC from outside of the team with a strong association to a radically different defensive scheme. That would limit the Bills to hiring someone from the outside whose system is close enough to meld seamlessly with McDermott's or to promote from within.
  21. I disagree. Mock drafters tend to be conformists, and for short periods of time, it may look like quite a few mock drafts are coming into consensus. Yes, there are quite a few mocks slotting one or the other of the two running backs generally supposed might go in round one (Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs. I don't think it is anywhere close to a consensus. I follow mock drafts year round. I reviewed half a dozen today. A few had Gibbs or Robinson going to the Bills, but I also saw a couple defensive ends going to Buffalo. Also, a couple WRs and interior offensive linemen. At various times, I've also seen a lot of safeties mocked to the Bills, or more accurately, a few safeties mocked to Buffalo in lots of mock drafts. There will continue to be an ebb and flow in what positions are popular choices for mock drafters. As for what the Bills do, Beane has shown a propensity to draft players in the early rounds, not positions. Drafting late in the round, it's likely there will be few players left that Beane will consider to be a first round value. Kaiir Elam was the last one left in Beane's mind last year. A running back would have to be an extraordinary talent to be a first round value in Beane's mind, I would think. However, Beane is not going to pick an interior lineman just to fill a need. O'Cyrus Torrence is a name that pops up quite a bit as a Buffalo pick. Is he a first round talent? Maybe. Beane probably hasn't decided himself yet, and won't until sometime in February -April. It's way too early to be ruling out almost any position other than QB, punter or place kicker. Beane might try to trade up or down too. He'll be inclined to entertain offers from other teams if Buffalo's turn is approaching and he doesn't like what's there.
