  1. I could see this happening. We'll have to see what happens. Also, how long would it take him to make the transition? I do like his potential though. I'd hate to see us use a day 1 or 2 pick on defense unless Oliver gets traded. 1 hour ago, John from Riverside said: Alan Williams made this transition from corner to safety and did pretty well at it. We’ve seen this before. George Wilson even converted from WR and it didn't take him very long either.
  2. He's approaching 30 so it could work very well. We need to run more anyway and Henry is due for a slightly smaller workload like we did with Thurman Thomas. We could still upgrade the OL without spending a fortune since our OL isn't worth very much as is. Oliver and Morse are overpaid. Let the Titans have them. Of course, this still sounds unrealistic, but it's nice to think about. I mean, what do you do with your safeties? I could see Josh just calling audibles based on that. Move the safeties back and audible to a run. I have no problem running a more balanced offense. It keeps the defense rested. With an average OL, we'd score 40 points per game.
  3. The numbers don't lie. He's a physical freak, but his pass protection stinks and his run blocking isn't much better. Right now, he's a major liability. I suspect he could be following in Cody Ford's footsteps. I don't understand why some people are making excuses for him. I hope he turns it around, but he needs to make several BIG steps in a very short time. Upgrade RT in a major way and if Brown gets it together, fine. We don't have a single average G on the roster, so maybe he can play there. Otherwise, he's trade bait or a career backup. I think this OL is due for a major shakeup.
  4. Fix the OL. Then get an impact player or 2 on offense. Edmunds is good, but he seldom makes game changing plays. I like Beane and our coaches, but Simms and Florio are right about the clock ticking at OBD. Upgrade the OL. Let Edmunds walk. I think Poyer makes more game changing plays despite their ages. Trade Oliver if they can find an upgrade.A great DL makes up for an average secondary. Get a big playmaker on O. Give Allen a solid run game to take the pressure off him. I'm not opposed to going RB in the 1st if that kid from Texas is still there. I hear he's one of the 3 best players in this draft. I don't care if he is a RB or we took Cook last year. If he's making game changing plays, I'll be happy. I'll say this for McDermott though. I'm not sure any HC would have done better after the elbow injury to Josh, Miller's injury, White's short season and so many other injuries to deal with. I'm going to guess that the injuries won't be as bad 2 years in a row.
  5. Just sign an average veteran MLB and S in FA, if possible. I'm guessing these aren't the most expensive positions to fill. Good or great OL aren't often available in FA because they are in short supply.
  6. I would certainly agree that kicker, especially the guy kicking FG's, are the most important ST players since FG's often determine the outcome of a game. Other than that, just sign guys that will add solid depth and let them play ST unless they can really make an impact like Steve Tasker did.
  7. I'd love to see Orlando Brown at LT and Dawkins at LG or O Brown at RT with S Brown as the Swing Tackle. Maybe, if he can finally put it together, S Brown could be good at G. He's an athletic freak. I just don't know why he's struggling so much. Sometimes OL take time to develop. I sincerely hope Spencer Brown takes a HUGE leap in year 3. If there isn't good value for OL or outside receiver in the late 1st, maybe we trade down to acquire multiple 2nd round picks for this coming draft. I know Beane's 2nd round picks haven't fared well, but I suspect that's mostly coincidence since you could argue that he's gotten good value in rounds 3-7. He's also done well in round 1 except for Oliver who is still OK, but not good value for #9 overall.
  8. It's funny how everyone blames coaching for the devastating injuries the Bills endured. Also, if you don't think the Sabres have a very bright future, you aren't paying attention. Even their developmental talent is looking really good including all 3 of their 1st round picks from the most recent draft. Oh! You probably didn't know they had 3 picks in the 1st round, did you? They've hit on a very good GM and coaching with a ton of talent in the pipeline. They already lead the NHL in scoring. So they won't be really good in the near future? Because something didn't happen in the past, doesn't mean it can't happen in the future. The right building blocks are already in place. I'm really excited for the Sabres.
  9. If you look at KC's roster, it's clear that they place far more emphasis on their OL than on skill players other than Mahomes. Smith-Schuster is their best WR. He's above average and Hardman is decent, but the OL, other than RT, outclasses them by a mile. Their RB's are basically average and could easily be replaced. Give Josh time and the ability to hand off the ball until the defense forces him to throw and he will be the next MVP. His completion rate will go up and his picks will drop way off. If he isn't forced to run as much, his fumbles should drop as well and his injury risk drops too.
  10. It's a tough loss, but you can't justify a huge LB salary when your OL is crippling your offense and urgently needs multiple upgrades. We're going to have to spend some serious cash on the OL if we're serious about winning a SB. I just hope our HC who was a DC understands this. Our D was significantly better when Edmunds was available, but that's also because our backup LB's are awful. Put an average MLB in there and use the cash saved on the OL and that will be a net plus for the team. Our chances largely depend on Josh. We need to protect him and run the ball much better and more often to get the most out of our QB.
  11. Who will do it first? Will it be the Bill's hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, the Sabres hoisting the Stanley Cup or neither?
  12. 5 hours ago, GolfandBills said: Dipping into the chiefs cast offs! Here we come! _____ So that's why we signed him? Because he played for a specific team once upon a time? Why would that be a criteria for ever signing anyone? I can see a coach bringing in players he's familiar with like bringing in players from a coach's former team, but beyond that I see no advantage. You don't really think Beane and McDermott are dumb enough to fall into that mindset, do you?
  13. Let Poyer and Edmunds walk and replace them with average guys. I'm tired of having such a weak OL. I'm not saying they are bad players, but the state of our OL is pathetic. Besides Dawkins, we have nothing but backup caliber O Linemen. We'll still have a solid secondary and avg + Milano is an above average LB corps. At least shore up RT and get a decent LG or get 2 OT's and move Dawkins inside.
  14. There's no evidence in the public domain to cause me to lean one way or another on his guilt. I don't even know if he's done in court or if a verdict was delivered.
  15. No WR in round 1 please. I don't care if we trade up or down, but I'm tired of our OL being an afterthought. We need a razor sharp focus on upgrading the OL even if it means letting other FA's walk. We can win with an average back end on D and a great DL, but our OL is as bad as just about any. It's holding us back.
  16. Perhaps. He certainly knows the value of a good OL and it has paid off. Hill walks. The OL is improved and they hoist the Lombardi Trophy again.
  17. We need to add a couple studs on the OL and serious threats at RB and WR2. Between all of our guys in the slot, I think we'd be better off using our resources on the OL. I think that's Beane's and McDermott's biggest drawback. They just haven't done enough for the OL and I believe it's the #1 reason why we can't win the SB. Josh is our greatest asset. Give him better protection and a solid run game and he'll have his best season to date.
  18. Don't go to the Jets, please. You aren't great, but you're way better than Zach Wilson.
  19. I hope they don't let the people on this message board influence them.
  20. The accountability falls clearly on Von Miller, Micah Hyde and Da'Quan Jones on defense. They weren't available when we needed them. On Offense, the OL simply didn't get it done. Others may share in the blame, but they own the lion's share. Maybe we should have run more, but with a bad OL, both running and passing are much harder. I also think Dorsey needs to change his mindset and establish the run much more. He's putting too much on Josh. As far as unloading or replacing anyone, the entire OL except Dawkins should be replaced and Gabe Davis should be WR3 as before. On defense, we just need to get healthy and replace whoever we can't afford to keep. I suspect they won't resign Singletary or Poyer or most of the guys whose contracts have expired, especially Saffold. I know Saffold did his best, but clearly injuries have taken their toll. Also, Dorsey needs help. I'd give him another chance, but he knows he has to do better.
  21. I hate commercials, but I'm not watching the game anyway, so I won't have to suffer through them.
  22. 22 minutes ago, John from Riverside said: I appreciate the work that went into this That’s too many offensive lineman in one draft You have to figure that we’re definitely gonna draft at least one and then we’re probably gonna bring in a veteran Beane always says free agency is for filling holes, so I'd expect him to sign a replacement for Saffold before the draft as well as average guys to compete for positions where we lose salary cap casulties. (RB, S, LB, LG, DL & probably at least 1 WR)
