  2. Wake me up when we sign a good football player. Well, it's still early, but other teams are signing the good OL FA's and we're just signing backups so far. We'll just have to wait, I guess.
  3. Orlando Brown please. I think going G with our 1st pick would also be a huge benefit since neither Bates nor McGovern are really starters. We should definitely be looking to upgrade the IOL. I can't believe how much we're paying McGovern either. We did the same thing with Star. Why do we keep signing below average linemen and overpaying them? It's really frustrating.
  4. Orlando Brown is still available, he's only 27 and we've just cleared up more than $30 million in cap space. If we're serious about winning the SB, we need to be talking to him instead of always trying gto get by with discount O Linemen posing as starters. OB could play on either side or even at G and be a HUGE upgrade over any OL currently on our roster. Dawkins is the only quality starter we have and maybe Morse, but Mitch's performance did slip a bit last year. Perhaps if he had better talent around him he would again be an above average Center. Besides, I'm concerned for his health. Concussions can have very serious lifelong consequences. Just ask Jim McMahon.
  5. This is such a racket -- All this nonsense about how taxpayers have to fork over millions that would be far better spent in the community for education, infrastructure or healthcare. The owners keep insisting on new stadiums and arenas when there's nothing wrong with the current one. It's a joke. We use office buildings on a far more regular basis and for decades longer, but no one thinks twice about hundreds of millions wasted on a ballpark to replace another perfectly good one. SMH... Since 1990, American cities have blown about $30 billion on these sports arenas. There may be 1 or 2 that needed to be replaced, but hardly any more than that.
  6. I don't see any signings coming that really move the needle. No skill player will give us the full measure of his potential impact if the OL isn't fixed and most of the best OL FA's were quickly signed while we snoozer. I hope Beane has some magic up his sleeve on draft day. My concern there is that rookie OL might take time to develop and we'll waste another year of Allen in his prime.

I'll say this for him however. He's no worse than Bates. If he's a starter along with Morse and Brown, we will again have a bottom 6 OL. I guess this comes from having a defensive HC. OBD just doesn't see any value in a good OL apparently. Both McGovern and Bates should be backups.
  8. $23 million for 3 years! If we're spending that much, how are we not getting a better G? Well, they overpaid Star too. I guess we're not good at assessing OL and DL talent.

It helps a lot. People don't think it matters because OLinemen don't score TD's (except Doyle), but skill players don't score either if the guys up front don't do their job. I don't know what Orlando Brown will command after not living up to expectations in KC and it doesn't have to be him specifically, but we will need to spend to upgrade the OL. High caliber OL like getting paid too. I hope they aren't paying this guy starter money. If not, OK, but McGovern and Bates as starting G's doesn't inspire confidence. He's not the worst, but I believe we have to aim higher if we want to win a SB. Why is it so wrong to want a guy like Wyatt Teller or Joe Thuney?

  11. Another backup caliber OL. We need guys that can raise the level of play and this ain't it. Very disappointed with this move!
  12. He's good, but not great. His greatest asset by far is ball security. Dude never fumbles. In Madden, his "CAR" rating (Holding on to the rock) is an exceptional 97 out of a possible 99. Heck ya. He's similar to Moss, but measurably better. We will have many needs on draft day and the RB class in both FA and this draft class is strong, but he definitely fits the mold of what our offense needs. We'll see what route Beane takes. Now add at least 2 BIG upgrades on the OL and we're in business.
  13. The ultimate team player. I hope he finishes his career as a Bill. He'll be the favorite of many Bills fans for years to come.
  14. Money for what? Start earning what you're already being paid first. 4 hours ago, HaldimandBills said: I'm fine with letting him walk. Edmunds. Oliver, etc are exactly the type of players who you end up overpaying and regret not replacing them with someone a quarter of the cost who can produce 85% of what they can. Agreed, but I'd rather spend the same as what we're paying Oliver and get sometimes more disruptive. 3-Tech is nearly as important as DE IMO. Oliver is a shade above average.
  15. Another backup caliber OL? Our entire OL room is backup caliber except Dawkins and maybe Morse, whose best days are in the past. No thanks. We need ABOVE average OL or better, not guys like Graham Glasgow or Nate Davis.
  16. I guess this means we'll sign a couple big name OL before the draft maybe??? We need a RG and RT at least. I don't want to even think about Bates and Brown starting again. What will it take for OBD to learn that you can't just throw a bunch of backup caliber OL out there and expect to win a SB?
  17. I'd be really happy if we land Dawand Jones at 27. He's a mountain of a man who has a regular habit of leaving DE's on the ground. If he's gone, I want O'Cyrus Torrence. I don't think Bijan Robinson will be there at 27, but he'd be my 3rd choice.
  18. 7 minutes ago, MrEpsYtown said: I would be okay with it, but slightly disappointed. I just want more impact with a first-round pick. Does that mean boom or bust? Yes. The solid starter is a meh for me. Considering that our OL is bottom 5 in the league and we only have a couple bona fide starters, there is no other position group other than OL whose upgrade could benefit the team more. I don't want to limp through another season with a bunch of backups manning our OL.
  19. The god of vague titles has been offended. 10 Hail Mary's please.
  20. I'll be severely disappointed if the Bills pick a defender at 27. I want an OL that makes ALL of the skill players look better. Other teams draft OL in the first round every year, but we treat our OL as an afterthought. We put guys in starting OL jobs that should be backups. I'd like to see our defense minded coach realize that as a HC, he's responsible for the offense too. No more excuses. I want a top 10 OL at least, preferably top 5. Right now we are bottom 5. We won't win a SB like that. Look at the OL's of last season's final 4. The Bengals OL was banged up, but the other 3 had excellent OL's. People overlook OL for the same reason they overlook 1-Tech. Those guys don't make the sexy plays, but they make all the guys around them look better.
  21. I'd love to sign McGlinchey. He's good but not great, so I think we could afford him. Draft Mauch too. We might need to move up in the 2nd or trade down for Mauch and a receiver. Van Noy is the kind of LB I'd like us to sign, but can he play MLB? Trai Turner would be kinda like a 3rd wheel at G with Mauch, Boettger, Bates and Van Roten. Mauch, I think, is the only one that inspires me. Our other G's are backups or low end starters and that's what Turner is also. Isaac Suemalo would be OK too. Nothing special, but affordable.
  22. Give us your starting 5 OL that you'd like to see. Be reasonable if possible. Who do we sign, draft or trade for. Name names. We know it's near impossible to get it all right, but we won't take it out of your paycheck. Just give it your best shot in the dark, so to speak.
  23. I want a nastier edge to our OL too. I remember Clowney roughing up Tyrod one time after the whist'e and Richie just threw him like a rag doll. I know he messed up, but I still miss that about him. You want that on both sides of the ball.
  24. On 3/2/2023 at 10:43 PM, colin said: he's simply not a big enough of an impact player to sign for what another team will pay him, not to us and not in our D at the least. rando mid tier free agent D Jones had a bigger impact on our D being out vs cincy than edmunds ever has. the front 4 and the scheme protects the back 7 in our D, so saving and getting max value in the back 7 is the key to logistical success. a strong improvement in 1 or 2 OL positions which could be secured w what edmunds would make would do so much more to improve our team. our d would be likely slightly worse, but our OL would be much better. if we also improve by adding one additional target, not exactly an impossible task, we legit have a shot at an all time type of offense w josh allen running the show. Very true. Josh is clearly our best player and the key to our success. A top 5 OL makes everyone else on offense look better and gives us a solid run game that other teams have to take into account every play. If we could save $20 million to spend on the OL and a real #1 RB that could give us 1200 yards or more, Josh would have an MVP year. Take the pressure off Josh and let a big, nasty OL take some of the load. Add a solid WR2 and better TE depth. How do you stop that? As long as the DL can bring pressure, I believe we can be a better, more complete team. The Chiefs, Eagles and Bengals definitely figured out the value of a good to great OL and it showed. Josh in a clean pocket with a top 5 run game that features a bullish RB that can wear down defenses works for me. If we win in the trenches, we'd have to beat ourselves in order to lose.
