Seriously, I have been a sceptic about the Bills for a long while, but some posters here make me look like the eternal optimist. Oh no! We lost to a great team! Fire everone immediately! Where's the accountability!? Get over that nonsense. The roster needs to be tweaked, not blown up.
  2. 1 hour ago, Buftex said: In season, Locked On the one I listen to almost daily. I agree that it can be a little dull at times...and it make me realize, you can overanalyze things too! I also listen to the Chris Simms "Unbuttoned" podcast when I can, to keep up with the rest of the league. I find him fairly entertaining to listen to I like Chris Simms also.
  3. I love the focus on the OL, but I'd like WR help on day 2 plus a WR FA unless we find a couple real OL bargains in FA -- Unlikely in a time when good OL are relatively few. I think signing WR FA talent will be a little easier since we are looking for a WR2. 15 hours ago, Chaos said: I traded Morse. One will be guard / back up center I could see this happening. He's pretty average now and probably overpaid. I would still be surprised, though.
  4. 8 minutes ago, Momma Pecoraro said: Nyup Parrino and Talbot. Marino is good on draft analysis. His show bogs down when he spends time reciting biographical information of players, seasonal rankings and statistics of teams and players that can be gleaned elsewhere. Tedious. Show should be 15 minutes tops unless ‘herd mentality’. Why? What do you like about it?
  5. I'm happy for Daboll as long as he's not beating us. I'm also not sure Hodgins is a major talent. We'll see about that. Also, I was not aware of any rift between McDermott and Daboll. McDermott is the main reason Daboll is a NFL HC today because his previous OC stints in Cleveland and Miami were miserable. McDermott gave him a new life in the pros. Maybe some other team would have gotten around to it eventually, but we acted first.
  6. Mine are Locked On Bills with Joe Marino and One Bills Live. I also like Mike Catalano a lot. Also, Arthur Moats has a Bills podcast on YouTube now. There are also a few very weak podcasts as well, but I won't mention names. Do you have a favorite(s)? Which one(s) and why?
  7. Given our cap situation, I don't see further progress right now. Beane would need to produce his best draft by far for this to be even be a possibility. Drafting has not been his strong suit, but he's done OK. If we don't sign an ok, but not too expensive replacement for Poyer, I'm afraid we'll waste our top pick on a S. We MUST do a serious upgrade of our OL and then add a couple weapons even if it means letting some guys on D walk. We've ignored our OL problems for too long. We need a very solid run game so Josh doesn't have to do it all himself. Besides, if our DL starters stay healthy, they can make up for minor deficiencies on the back end. We need to extend Da'Quan Jones too. Oh, and Go Sabres!
  8. Clearly the OL is the top priority with WR as #2. Safety is a priority as well, but I think Benford mitigates our need. Look for an affordable veteran S signing to compete.
  9. I think we should just fire everyone at OBD and release all the players. Then let the TBD Forum crowd run the franchise. They always come up with brilliant ideas like this one. Championship!
  10. Not the Bills - something Also Not the Bills - something else Seriously, I couldn't care less. I have never watched a non-Bills SB in my life and don't plan on starting ever. What's the point?
  11. We're $17 million over the cap. I'll be surprised if we win more than 10 games next season. I'll also be amazed if we sign any FA's that are better than average starters. However, in the case of our OL, even average OL would be a BIG upgrade for us except at LT.
  12. My take: Stick with the long term plan. We hit on 2 very strong drafts over a 3 year period and pull off our 1st Lombardi in a year where the injuries aren't too bad. Maybe we win a couple SB's over the course of 5 or 6 years. For years before and several after, we remain highly competitive, missing the postseason just a couple times or so. During Josh's career, we have to undergo 1 rebuild after our worst season in a while. That seems plausible.
  13. On 2/2/2023 at 11:28 PM, HomeskillitMoorman said: I don't think it is. Frazier is an extension of him, he runs the defense the way McD wants it to be run and to his vision. If McDermott had a problem with any of it, he could change it. He doesn't. He won't bring in someone that would challenge him to make changes. We've seen that already, we're still seeing it now. It's easier to keep Frazier and have most of the fanbase blame him instead as if McD doesn't have anything to do with the defense. You could literally read most of the messages on the board and most want to can Frazier and keep McDermott. It doesn't make any sense. If they think Frazier is such a big problem...whose fault is it that he's been here and is still here? It's McD's. Any way you slice it, McDermott is the problem. So McDermott's goal is to have a bad defense and keep a bad, clueless DC in place so he won't have to take the blame. Also, the loss of Hyde, Miller and other, multiple players on D had nothing to do with it. Interesting theories. So let's fire the best HC we've had since Marv and replace him with a scrub.
  14. Just a minor addition, Shaw. Rousseau took a nice step upward in his 2nd year. He's already better than Oliver. He'll probably never be an elite pass rusher, but he's easily in the top 25% of NFL starting DE's and may even get better. Losing Von really hurt him. As our best remaining DL, he probably got a lot more attention than he was before Thanksgiving.
  15. Great writeup Virgil! I like the idea of McDermott getting more involved with the offense. If we put as much effort into building our OL as we do with our DL we might still be looking forward to our 1st SB in a generation. Still, I have no way of knowing how McDermott divides his time and attention now.
  16. Why do we want someone with outrageous contract demands in the first place? That goes double for us when we're $17 million over the cap. No thanks.
  17. If we have only 1 new starter on our 28th ranked OL next season, that tells me that this team doesn't know how to win. I don't want to see us go pass on 1st, gadget play on 2nd, pass on 3rd all year which puts it all on Josh. We need upgrades or at least competition for WR2 and Slot Receiver, but we REALLY need a big, nasty OL that can take control of the LOS. If that means parting ways with other talent, so be it. I'm tired of "good enough". 5th worst OL in the NFL is nowhere near good enough if you want to win the SB. Go look at the PFF ratings for the 2 SB teams. That's what you need. They need to find a way. And for God's sake, get us a RB that can handle 20 carries a game and move the pile. Our offense is 1 dimensional. That won't get it done.
  18. Montana should be #2. Mahomes is great, but it's too soon to call him #2 all time. I like that Marino gets mention, but I'd feel better about it if he'd won a SB. It's also curious that no QB from before 1970 gets any love here, but the author probably never saw any of them play. Besides, it was a much more physical game back then.
  19. I can't believe how angry some fans still are about Brady's unrivalled success. Why? Brady has nothing to prove to anyone. He has more SB rings than anyone else and it's likely that record will not be seriously challenged in your lifetime. I have nothing but respect for what he's accomplished. I hope Josh will be the one to match those rings. Let's hope.
  20. My comparison is pretty straightforward. Josh is less consistent, but more spectacular. How would you compare the two?
  21. He's better than most of you think, but he has made a few glaring errors. If he played on a team with an NFL caliber OL you'd see it. I'd guess about half a dozen teams. I know some are in denial, but I'm just being realistic. Also, I'm not sold on Cook either. If Singletary walks, we will need to sign or draft a #1 RB.
  22. He's a whisker above average. He's not even close to what you'd expect from the 9th pick. Stop making excuses for him. He's been playing at the same medioce level since we drafted him. Last summer everybody was talking like he was giong to be an all pro this year because he was dominating our backup OL. Heck, our starters are backup caliber except Dawkins. Enough. Try to trade him and unload his salary so we can get our money's worth. Maybe even a low draft pick.
  23. So you're saying there's no way we can afford to improve the 5th worst OL in the NFL? Then why even talk about it? Perhaps we should trade off an underperformer or 3 and use the money on the OL. Maybe we trade up for a top tier OT candidate. I've been shouting about this awful OL for years while others have been saying this guy is "good enough" or "I'm not worried about this guy. He'll be fine" and I'm tired of hearing it. Dawkins is the ONLY good OL on our roster and he's far from elite. Look at the final 4 teams. They all have made big upgrades up front in recent years. The Chiefs let Hill walk rather than decimate their OL and where are they now? No more excuses! No more good enough! I'm sick of hearing it. We will never win a SB with such a lame group of OL. Let some guys walk if you have to. Trade for draft picks if you have to. Just find a way. Maybe ask the league's #1 turnover machine to take a pay cut. Whatever. Difficult choices must be made. Do McDermott and Beane have the mettle to do it? Maybe do a better job of scouting talent than drafting the next Cody Ford. Ok, I'll stop ranting now.
