  1. Bates (a backup caliber OLman) had the 2nd highest grade. Doesn't that just say it all? Phew! (Holding my nose) I've been calling for OL upgrades as long as Beane has been our GM. There simply isn't much OL talent in the NFL right now compared to other positions. We'll be lucky to put together an average OL in 1 offseason.
  2. If the Jets had a steady QB, I'd probably pick them to win the AFCE. Miami? Can't say. They're hot and cold.
  3. Quick! Someone go tell Fitz he's a QB Coach! On the othe hand, not everyone is motivated solely by money. Maybe Fitz would enjoy coaching. He might indeed be an excellent NFL QB coach, OC or even HC some day if he wants to take on that challenge.
  4. There are very few really good RT's in the NFL right now. If we can get one of them, we should. Otherwise, keep Edmunds and scout the heck out of this rookie class. I'd even trade up if a potential probowl caliber OT is there. If not, look at WR first then OL/3-Tech. Stop saying no one drafts for need. EVERY team drafts for need EVERY year then swears they were only taking BPA. Seriously, have you not noticed this?

He is a little better than Spencer Brown right now. Not 14 million a year better. Screw that. And please don't respond with PFF garbage. PFF GARBAGE!

  7. I take it you know McDermott personally and well. There's no other way you could reasonably claim to know this about him.
  8. 19 hours ago, Trock said: Adversity builds character. You either rise to the occasion or fold. Bills folded. What adversity? Other than #3 getting badly injured, I think most of those events had minimal impact on wins and losses other than injuries. The Bengals were the better team and the better coached team. Quit making excuses for losing to a better team. It wasn't lack of character or bad karma. The Bengals have a better roster and had a better game plan. There is no elephant in the room, just too many soft spots. We focus too much on depth and not enough on adding blue chip players at the right positions.
  9. You're right OP, but no one will remember. Also, I don't think you can use all of that as excuses. The Tops shooting, for example, was terrible, but had little or nothing to do with winning or losing football games. The emotional damage was mostly absorbed by the community and didn't involve any of the players or their families or friends.
  10. Rousseau and Teller the only lineman on either side of the ball who were both a Beane draft pick and a solid value. Ford, Basham, Brown, AJE, Oliver, Doyle have all been disappointments. Wyatt Teller greatly exceeded expectations, but we let him walk. Beane needs help identifying and keeping top quality linemen. It's his Achilles heel.
  11. The fans shouldn't be doing the voting. The media figures shouldn't be doing the voting. The probowl is nothing more than a popularity contest. Let the coaches and players decide who is worthy. Better yet, let them vote for best at each position and skip the pointless game.

Agreed, replace Poyer and Edmunds with average guys and an elite DT. I guess the numbers for Oliver make it hard to unload him without creating $ problems, but something has to be done. Also, Beane needs to do better in the top 3 rounds. He hasn't been bad, but 31 other teams want that trophy. I know we say it every year, but he has to nail those picks.
  13. This is in response to many posts. We have a lot of 'B' players and not enough 'A+' players. I'm talking about Oliver, Basham, Edmunds and such. We have to replace Poyer and Edmunds with less expensive guys. We need to replace Oliver with a serious disruptor. The OL needs 3 upgrades IMO -- Big nasty guys like Richie that will toss you like a rag doll if your footwork is subpar. I can live with a more physical, less expensive MLB. I am OK with pairing an average S with Hyde to free up cap space to sign 2 or 3 big name FA's. I'm even OK with taking the best RB in the draft. We will lose some quality depth, but it is clear that you just have to have about 6 guys that are making game changing plays on the regular even if you have to replace some 'B' players with 'C' players to pay them all. We have to start dominating in the trenches and be able to pound the ball. If Josh leads this team in rushing next year, I will consider that a failure. No more just showing a few runs. Make this a 2-way offense. Again, we need a big back too. Josh Allen and a 1,000 yard RB would get us where we need to go. Not only that, but Josh led the NFL in turnovers because we only ran well on a few occasions. That gave defenses an advantage and made pass protection harder. We need the element of surprise.
  14. Having 2 WR1's works better if you have a great run game. I'd love to see this, but not if it means no BIG upgrade to our OL and a clear #1 RB that you have to game plan for.
  15. I was happy when we drafted Oliver. Today I want to trade him.
  16. I never thought winning the SB was more than a 10-15% chance. I also think we really need to avoid being overly complacent and shake things up a more than usual. I wouldn't fire Beane or McDermott, but both coordinators are fair game. That said, Dorsey was a 'rookie' and had a poor OL and few weapons to work with.
  17. Any potential trades you'd like to see? A FA you're really wanting? Do you have a favorite draft target? Who do you resign? Who do you let walk? The OL has needed an upgrading for a while and now as much as ever. The Bengals were getting pressure with just 3 guys. Allen needs better skill players. We really need a more balanced offense and I'd love a big back. I want an absolute beast on that OL and 3-Tech. I'd trade Oliver for draft capital. Also, how much did lingering injuries contribute to that disasterous performance last Sunday? Your approach?
  18. I'm wondering if there was similar talk in Philly before Andy Reid was fired. I'm nowhere near the conclusion that McDermott is the problem. I think Beane is the more suspect of the 2. Too many of his high draft picks haven't met expectations and I still consider the Basham pick a big mistake. Everyone keeps saying that they shouldn't draft for need and then they go do it anyway. We needed OL help badly. Spencer Brown has been a bust. The Bengals were getting pressure with only 3 guys rushing the passer. No one was getting open. That pick could have helped us a lot more. Ford was a bust. Edmunds is good, but not great. Same with Oliver, but Edmunds is better. I'm not ready to send Beane packing either, but multiple positions in our roster have been exposed. FIX THE OL Beane!
  19. Beane has been OK on draft days, but his success with drafting OL and DL has been subpar. I like Rousseau and Jones as well as Phillips when he's healthy. Von might come back strong, but maybe we need to sign linemen and draft the skill positions.
  20. The problem is primarily the trenches, not the coaching or the GM. Allen needs more help and our OL/DL just aren't good enough. Let Poyer and Edmunds walk. Trade Oliver. Get after the best OL FA's on the market. We have numerous holes to fill. Oliver should be traded for draft capital. The Bengals OL was so banged up and he didn't even get 1 tackle. I'm more disappointed in him than I am with Brown and Saffold.
  21. When the Bills season ends, the football season ends. I honestly couldn't care any less. Just get an OL and a couple skill position starters. Start with RT, then G, WR and then BPA. 10 points in a divisional round game at home? Serious upgrades are needed. Gabe is a WR3 and our OL is among the worst in the NFL. I've been calling for OL upgrades for the past 3 years at least. It's got to be top priority this offseason. I want to see 3 new starters up front in 2023. Maybe even 4 with Dawkins possibly moving inside.
  22. I keep saying Rousseau and it hasn't happened, so I will go with Diggs and Tre'Davious White on O and D. I expect solid games from our LB's too.
  23. We played a very sloppy game last Sunday, but the Bengals played a subpar game too. All I can say is that I'm extremely disappointed that Von won't be available when we need him most. Our DL depth is good, but nowhere near as good as Von.
  24. Why? He's been so-so in his first year as OC. Who's next? Hackett?
