  1. He's not very good. You can't build a good OL by signing only low quality linemen. At some point you need to sign good or elite linemen. We have too many low quality offensive linemen already.
  2. Miles Jack and Robbie Anderson could really help us if the conditions are right. Robbie Anderson's speed must be respected and Miles Jack is a decent replacement for Edmunds. I don't know their recent history. Are there off field issues or injury issues with either of them? Can we afford them? They'd certainly fill a couple big holes going into the draft allowing Beane to focus on the OL for a change. Your thoughts?
  3. I've watched him a couple times. He's good. He doesn't let his feelings cloud his judgement. Very objective. Check him out.
  4. Maybe sign Robbie Anderson who still has elite speed. That could open things up underneath for Knox, a slot receiver and the ground game.
  5. I don't know which OT is best or who will be available. I just know that Brown is a huge liability and we need to make some bold moves to upgrade our OL. These baby steps we've been taking aren't going to get it done.
  6. Thank the Fed. This is how they plan to fight inflation. Blame people with no money for problems created by people with too much money.
  7. I'm fine taking a WR in the 3td and MLB in the 2nd. I want the best OL we can get with our first pick. Maybe we trade up or back, but I want an OT that can start for many years to come and play at a high level.
  8. I saw him play many times. Great player. I forgot what Miami got in that trade, but I remember after he made a great play a game announcer asking "What did Buffali trade for him? A couple bubble gum wrappers?" Indeed. That was one of the best trades in franchise history.
  9. I remember a game against the Chargers when Frazier was calling the plays and our defense was getting slaughtered. McDermott took over the play calling in the 2nd half and the defense did a complete turnaround. I think the Bills should stick to this plan and let McDermott call the defense. We may see our best defense yet in McDermott's tenure.
  10. He's above average, but I think "really good" is overstating it. Still, he's far too good to be riding the pine IMO. I'm guessing he'll be Poyer's replacement if he sticks around after 2023. So we have 3 starter worthy safeties to man 2 places, but only a couple starter worthy offensive linemen to man 5 places. Strange. Anyway, I admire Damar's toughness and spirit, but is significantly better.
  11. I originally voted Dawand Jones, but if Darnell Wright is there for us, I think he'd be a better choice. He'll be an elite pass protector and I think his run blocking can be coached up. I'd be happy with either one though. Like I've said, if Brown takes a big step, put Wright at LT and move Dawkins inside. I sure hope so. That OL would do wonders for Josh and the rest of the offense.

I trust Beane and McD when they say positive things about him. I expect them to draft a guy who can play OG and C. Doyle and Anderson will compete for the back up OT spot. With the tight cap, I think they will resign their own and bring in training camp fodder. __________ Brown still has a VERY long way to go and he's proven nothing. No one has forgotten about his back, but I'm not just assuming he'll be good until he shows it. Again, he still has a very long way to go. I hope he makes it. I also would much rather draft an OT than an IOL in the first anyway. Everyone seems to think his future success is a lock after 2 very poor seasons.
  13. Agreed. Many people don't like it because OT's don't score points or get sacks. If we draft an OT and Brown doesn't develop, we're better off. If the rookie OT and Brown both turn out well, even better. Someone slides over to G and 2 spots get upgraded. KC, Cincinnati and Philly all made big investments in their OL's recently with big payoffs. KC even let Tyreek Hill walk and signed Orlando Brown. They did pretty well last year. If we want similar results from Allen, we need to make a similar investment.

He just shouldn’t draft anymore linebackers because he picked a crappy one last year? That third round pick is a sunk cost. It is what it is. You have to start fresh every year and you have to pick the best player for your team, and right now that is a guy like Campbell imo. This is what GMs do. Some picks hit and some picks don’t. Everybody’s rockstar GM Brett Veatch drafted random defensive tackles in the third round 2018, 2019, 2020 all of whom really didn’t amount to anything. Khalen Saunders is ok and just left. So Veatch doesn’t have to resign because he drafted Mahomes and Creed Humphrey? How many WRs did Philly have to draft until they got one right? It’s all a part of the job. You have to look forward. __________ Agreed, but I don't see MLB as a big investment position. We could still do OK drafting a LB in the 2nd or maybe signing an average MLB in FA if there is one still available. I haven't looked lately though, so maybe we do need to draft one.
  15. I don't claim to be a draft expert, but I will say this. We have not made a strong enough commitment to our OL. A franchise OT would do more than another WR to help this team win. I hear different reviews about Jawand Jones, but I love watching him put defenders on the ground. Trade up if necessary for a premium OT and if S Brown takes a big jump, so be it. Move Dawkins inside or whatever. Too many good OT's is a problem I'd love to have. I'm sure Josh would too.
  16. Mc Dermott can win a SB. Andy Reid was fired in Philly after playoff losses with McNabb at QB. Mahomes is making him look great. Now people are saying the same things about McDermott that they said about Reid. They are wrong. We just need a really good draft or 2 and a couple 'lucky bounces' in a relatively imjury free season and it will be our turn.
  17. We rely too much on FA's. Beane needs to draft a lot better this year because we will have to give this year's rookie class a lot more snaps than usual. We also need last year's rookies like Elam, Shakir, Benford to really step up. I think Cook will always be a part time contributor. RB's that aren't good at pounding it up between the Tackles are of limited use. Bernard was just a bad pick.
  18. 4 hours ago, HappyDays said: In terms of actual unpopular opinions on here, I'm happy that the Bills prioritize special teams players. Giving the opponent worse starting field position is an underrated advantage. I don't think devoting a decent amount of cap space to those players has caused us to miss out on any meaningful upgrades at other positions. __________ Agreed. So is playcalling. Get 'em looking one way when you're going the other way. I'd also add that many fans undervalue the importance of a good offensive lineman because OL don't get sexy stats. Look at the OL's of the final 4.
  19. 1. We haven't done nearly enough to upgrade a poor OL in an offseason which started with us being $20 million over the cap. Our options are limited and I don't think the brain trust fully understands the need because they have a defense first philosophy. 2. Brandon Beane had a great draft his 1st time around selecting Allen and Edmunds in the 1st round. Since then, his selections in the top 3 rounds have been underachievers with too few exceptions (Knox, Singletary, Rousseau). We are now paying for those misses. Every GM has misses in the draft, but the pressure is really on him now. He has to nail this draft with 3 very solid picks and I don't mean good value. No one cares if or when you were picked when the bullets start flying. We need 3 good starters. 3. Josh isn't the best QB in the NFL after leading the league in turnovers, but he could be with a better supporting cast -- A big, nasty, talented OL and a run game that can carry the load when we have the lead in the 2nd half or when the other team's defense keeps playing with a light box. We need a run game that can carry the offense rather than one that's fairly "efficient". 3. We may take a step back in 2023, but not if we draft well and our best players stay healthy. 11 or 12 wins vs 5 or 6 losses is not inconceivable otherwise. If Josh misses any appreciable time, the season is over. 4. If Rodgers joins the Jets and has a bounce back season, the Jets could win the AFCE. If that happens, TBD will be lit up with calls for firing everyone at OBD.
  20. I actually saw a Bears podcast where they asked about trading the #9 pick for Oliver. I know they aren't that foolish though. I'd be all for that move!
  21. I love this draft, but no MLB means we sign a FA LB, which I'm OK with. I don't think LB should be a big money position. Conversely, if a player makes game changing plays, his position is less important. That's why I was OK with Chicago paying Edmunds $18 million and Beane not outbidding him. So let me ask, who what FA's would you sign after this draft?
  22. I think the offense is underrated a smidge at RB, WR and TE. The OL is overrated. I want OT as our 1st pick.
