Holy crap, I'm finally coming to Buffalo! 53 years in the making
Sojourner replied to Hellcamino's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sorry it’s taken you this long! Thankfully the Ralph closing has given a lot of fans the extra incentive to come watch a game. For the season opener there was a few people who were attending their first ever Bills games, in part because it was the last season here. -
Appreciate it. I had fun listening to WGR when I was in town for my stadium construction site tour last month. Not sure I could take a steady diet of it. It got pretty old after a long weekend. We have similar stations in Los Angeles. Listening to hour after hour of the debate between the strengths of Kobe and LeBron is downright nauseating.

rookie HC comes in and tries to go .500 w previous regime's leftovers...very well worn path it's like people have literally zero memory as if mcdermott wasnt 25-23 through his first 3yrs here

This better not have jinxed us!

Cool project. I love the vintage look of old War Memorial, but if it was my project, I'd look for something without the baseball diamond. Call me OCD, but I always hated the look when the Bills played the Dolphins, Raiders, and others, and they still had their baseball infields in the middle of the gridiron. The memory of days of War Memorial brings to mind such a different experience than what fans have today. It was rustic. It was intimate. It was simple. The scoreboard a basic array of lightbulbs. There were no replays on a Jumbotron. The sound of a live jazz or marching band along with the combined smells of popcorn, hot dogs, cigars, and the grass field made it feel like we were still in some post-war era movie. Sitting not more than 20 feet from the visitors bench is part of the seed that was planted they became my lifelong Bills fandom. The experience in the new stadium will be unrecognizable to what we had in the 60's. Better? On some level, for sure3. But there was still something very personal about that old stadium that I'm nostalgic about. Good luck on the man cave.

They lost to a Patriots team that lost to the Raiders and looked terrible. Let's not pretend it was the 07 Patriots. -
Jalen Hurts is 9 TDs behind him in about two-thirds of the games. I think Josh will play longer and likely stay ahead, but it would be unfortunate for someone to ***** that record from him.

You are all over the place with who gets canceled and for what. In this guys case, why not let the voters make that decision? -
Yep for sure- So when I mean aggressive it's a combination of a few things: 1. Pass to run ratio. (Of course more passing would = more aggressive) 2. More downfield shots- I am not saying there weren't any designed downfield shots, but they definitely played the first half in an 8 yard box for the most part. It's also hard to tell if the receivers are running deep to space the field , or if they are actually the designed first read. 3. More throws/play action on 2nd and short 4. To simplify probably the most, just putting the game in Josh's hands and let Josh be Josh . (Like the 4th quarter)

Nice post, I agree with all of it. Very well said, and something folks should pin when it comes to assessing viable Head Coach candidates.

i think it's just easier to acknowledge that everyone is gross.

He was a turnover machine, he was an inaccurate passer, he was impulsive and made bad decisions. Josh is the ultimate competitor and is humble enough to admit to and address his flaws which inevitably turned him into the best QB in the NFL. I don’t think there has ever been a QB entering the NFL that’s has been able to correct their deficiencies to the level Josh has. This guy is superhuman!

I 100% agree with this. I think with more playing time though, those mistakes will be fewer and fewer….like we’ve seen with some of our really good players on the roster. -

I really don’t worry about him. His athleticism is needed in our D. He has his faults, but overall he has more positives than negatives. -
Live look at Cam as Josh closes in.

Ha... almost 50... you're still a pup! I'll be turning 73 next month with 4 major knee surgeries over the years behind me. I'd give my left (useless) nugget to "bounce back" like I could when I was 50 again!

How many home games do you attend a year?

They have this feature called a “poll”. It is very helpful for a question such as this. 😉 -

McDaniel shows linebackers all kinds of eye candy to suck them in or delay their drops, then Tua drops it in over their heads as they react late. Williams has been known to take the bait so hopefully his eye discipline has improved…. -

Its 2 games in - way too early to make any proclamations on him. But here are some things I will say -- More often than not, the "hot coordinator" isn't the savior people think they are in their first HC gig. Fans get obsessed with someone because they had a great offense/defense with great talent and then just think they will work magic when they take over a much lesser roster as a first time HC. Sure it can happen, but it mostly doesn't. Look at what the Lions did this weekend, they didn't need Ben Johnson to do it. But - its also not fair to a first time HC to condemn their new tenure after 2 games either, just like it would be silly to crown them if they over achieve early (look at Daboll in NY). Now - generalizations aside, one thing that is standing out in the new Ben Johnson era is he is not coming off well. That is not usually a good sign of things to come if their are rumblings this early about things like how he is in the locker room and how he comes across in the media. Sometimes these guys had it so easy with top end talent they come in with inflated Egos, arrogance, and stubborness that will hurt and hamper their ability to succeeed, unite the team, get the most out of his coaches and players, etc. Quite honestly, I think that is a major factor in what has become the Giants under Daboll. Their success will hinge on the humbling of them through struggles and how they respond. Then there are guys like McDaniel in Miami who just don't have that leadership quality, command of a franchise personality, etc and honestly are probably never going to succeed as a HC IMHO, same with a guy like McDaniels. Its too early to know where Ben Johnson will fall, but its why guys like McDermott exceeded expectations and found immediate success out the gate and others don't. McD has a Team General like leadership quality to him that commands respect and has the guys united and getting the most of them. He cares about his coaches, plaers, etc and listens to them and is genuine which makes him a players coach while still commanding the same discipline he expects. He has always had that, its natural for him, its why his early success started his first season when we were supposed to be a bottom feeder. He came in humble, but in command. When guys come in arrogant without that aura that leads and commands respect, its often a rough go of it. We will see how it goes for Ben, its early, but it has signs that I would say are in the red flag category.

I wouldn't mind another boring 30-10 win at all. Trubisky and the 2s playing 10+ minutes of the 4th.
