Lol...lets just agree to disagree because this is getting silly at this point. I mean you want to ignore the known data, which is disparaging to your argument that shows 2 of the WRs are fringe roster guys, Diggs season was worse than 2022, and the WR2 is not a starting caliber WR2...to instead use the make believe expectations of that 2023 squad we already know never happened. No disrespect, but I stick to known information and make educated guesses and opinions on what we know. And based on what we know, the information leads me to the opinion that to win the SB this year, the 2025 group gives us the better chance than the 2023 group, and its who I would roll with, and its not a tough decision for me.

Thought Exercise: Best Bills QB (99-2017) who'd be JA17 backup

Prime Flutie for me and I don't know that it's really close. Fitz is a distant second. Flutie could make magic happen, I'd prefer having a wildcard backup QB who can make plays out of nothing when things break down over a gunslinger like Fitz. -
Curious why you think the Bills would plan a stunt like that? What would you say their reason for it was and what do you think they had to gain from it? (genuinely asking, not trying to be a jerk). Beane is definitely not the type to do it just for headlines. If he did it on purpose I feel like there would have to be some strategic reason for it and I can’t think of one that makes sense to me. Personally, I feel like it just created drama with no real benefit to the Bills. I also feel like it puts a target on Beane’s back if the wide receiver room (or Allen) struggle this season. The clip of him going on a rant about WR’s will be played on an endless loop if that happens.

Fitzpatrick is a perfect backup. Doug Flutie is nice too. He is accurate and has the running ability as well. Tyrod is another good option. Drew Bledsoe I think is one you want as a starter or not at all. He was old and at the end of his career having been a starter for most of it. I don't think he would take well to the backup role. Ultimately, I'd choose Fitzpatrick. He would be great buds with Josh Allen, too. -

Who’s your defensive surprise of the year?
Whites Bay replied to Billsfed1's topic in The Stadium Wall
The way my pea-brain sees it, getting over "the hump" comes down to the performance of two draft picks. 1) Hairston has to come out of the gates as a solid (didn't say "exceptional") CB2. 2) Sanders has to come out of the gate...well, basically freeing up Ed Oliver to be Ed Oliver. In my mind, the rest is "gravy", in the sense that the positional weaknesses are mitigated by the opposition they face...a fancy way of saying "It's okay, the Bills are just better this week." If we get the same performance out of each unit next year that we got last year, we ought to feel pretty good. Those of you who study this a lot deeper than I do will fault my logic, and I'm fine with that. Yeah, safety is a question mark - but not a nightmare. Linebackers are pretty good. (Are they going to line Jackson up as a LB?) Offense? So-so (kidding) Kicking and Punting? Not the issue. If Hairston turns into another Elam...or Dane Jackson...the Bills are not going to make it If there's no push in the middle...the Bills are not going to make it. IMHO, any high end performance by Jackson and Walker would just be a bonus. -
TE's seem to be more willing to do the right thing.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I was a Sr in high school. Really frustrating season capped by the Ronnie Harmon drop and Jim Kelly interception in the last minute loss to the Browns. Definitely on the list of Billsy heartbreakers.

Yeah. I saw that joke on Twitter. If he was from here it would be produced a Pope before a Lombardi.

Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?
Kirby Jackson replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
You asked a question and I answered. Having better players isn’t a bad thing. Of the Bills had a 1 and threw him the ball 8 times a game and that meant 1 less target for Moore, Palmer and Coleman, I wouldn’t care. -

Definitely fair to not expect the same historical level in terms of fewest negative plays. If I was to make a counter point, it would be that it doesn't also mean you should by default expect a significant reversal either. Regarding our TO differential, I think the bigger concern for me is how dependent our defense was on getting turnovers, and that is a much harder thing to replicate IMO. Bills defense was bottom of the league in 3rd down conversions and first downs allowed. Any drop in those turnovers and that defense would have been putrid. Good news is they really reset the D this year, so going into next year the runway is clear to be aggressive at WR if needed with fewer expected holes next offseason. And knowing Beane, if someone comes available during the season, he has shown he would be aggressive and make an in season move if he felt it was the right move. -

A trade is definitely possible as it saves the Bills $6.2m. If we cut him it would only save $2.7m. The suspension of Hoecht complicates though. You'd have to be okay with Groot, Bosa, Jackson, and Solomon as your four edge guys. If we could find a trade partner I'd probably do it. Epenesa was pretty poor last year.

J.D. Williams was fast, too, and we know how that turned out.
