Good point. High school teams try to avoid doing this. I get if we're trying to milk the clock in protecting a lead but this is happening on almost every snap.  It's like the Bills are trying to run out the clock from the get go, shorten the game and protect their defense.

Can you blame them?

Well the world may not end, but this era Bills have never won a road playoff game. (If I'm not mistaken)

Josh Allen was also Undefeated on Thursdays. Streaks are broken all the time

It's always somebody else's fault with McDermott. Really starting to dislike this guy more and more.

"The offensive scheme has to get better".

How about your defensive scheme bud? Giving up 200 yards and 20 points in the 1st half to Davis Mills

Ummmm... our D is the reason the Bills were even in this game and that's the side of the ball where injuries have absolutely depleted the team.  Our offense scored 13 points in this game and did bizarre things like run James Cook on 5 plays in a row including a 4th and 1 play where he was clearly tired and trying to pull himself out of the game.

There are games to be Critical of McDermott as the defensive play caller.  This wasn't one of them.

It seemed pretty flukey we were even IN the game.

We literally had one offensive touchdown - one!  And that was a long Cook run where the Texans D inexplicably broke down.  I have a feeling that had the drive pushed into the redzone, we would have had to settle for a FG.

And our other TD was a crazy sort of return where it's very likely not a TD if Davis didn't run into a player on his own team.

The Texans dominated that game on D - and did enough on offense.  Had we managed to pull it out in the end, it would have just given us a false sense of things.

Add a 4th and forever hook and ladder to the pile of flukes.

Totally we were utterly thrashed by them... if they have a competent QB the score here is more reminiscent of the Bllls loss to the Dolphins or the Ravens last year...

O Line was horrid and to be honest looked old tired and lazy.  Especially Dawkins, the two OT’s were getting beat like a drum. Couple that with wr’s who struggle to get space, and horrendous offensive playbook it’s no wonder we looked like arse.

The Texans went ultra conservative in the second half because they had the lead and their defense was dominating

Too much is being made of the defensive performance in the second half. They went into a shell to not make mistakes

To think a couple weeks ago there was a thread where about half this board actually preferred this team play 3 road playoff games instead of getting the bye and playing 2 home games just to avoid 2 teams we already beat in KC and Ravens.  This is not a team we need to rely on to beat 4 teams to win a SB and have to do 3 of them on the road for just the shot to win the SB.

Honestly, I think there is no team in the NFL that needs the 1 seed more than the Bills right now - and of course after going 3-4 in its last 7 has pretty much killed any hope to even get the 1 seed this year.  Hell, now we are left wondering will they even make the playoffs.

You can't just spot a crap offence 20 points in the first half. Over 200 yards and 20 points in one half is unacceptable against any team, nevertheless playing against Davis Mills.

Did it get better? For sure. But it's still not good enough on defence in totality

The Brady ship has sailed. He cannot design a passing offense. He built a reputation as an offensive guru by having a bunch of future all pro at LSU. He's painfully predictable, unless he's drawing up a stupid gadget in a crucial situation that doesn't work. He does nothing to react to game situation. How do you do nothing to help a hobbled Spencer Brown when he's getting eaten up? I don't care how weak the talent at receiver is, the structure and play calling are worse.

Josh shouldn't be immune to criticism either. He's not playing to his standard. If he was an A last year, he's playing at B-/C+ this year. Josh doesn't deal with pressure well. It's never been a strength of his game. His answer to pressure is almost always his legs. If he can't break the pocket and scramble, he's in trouble. Every year or so he has 1 of these meltdown games where the pressure gets in his head and he totally loses his ability to process.

He got no help from Brady but he needs to be better at anticipating pressure and getting the ball out.

Brady is more like the guy everyone saw at CAR than at LSU. Without Allen the Bills are one of the worst O's in the league with his scheme.

Maybe McD cans him during the mini bye? McD had some harsh words indirectly aimed at Brady in the post game PC -- and was visibly furious with him on the inane 4th-and-1 draw to Cook.

Or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

the much maligned, devastated by injuries, and criticized Defense held the Texans to 2-12 3rd down conversions.  The Passing Offense was wonky, just like 2024 playoffs, just like 2023 playoffs, etc.  Hey Beane-its the offense stupid!

If we had pulled out the game in the end, I would have been very pleased.

Hook and ladder would have been play of the year if Bills won.

You know, it is emblematic of the Bills in the McBeane era that we can convert a 4th and 27 but not a 3rd/4th and 1. We can pull off the impossible but we can't cross the finish line when the margins get thin.
