And leave aside what I wrote above about Ladd McConkey - seems almost too obvious now.  Then, I much would have rather had either Troy Franklin or Roman Wilson.  Both are really emerging and will, I believe, have much better careers than Keon Sloeman.

It is so painful that Ladd McConkey was just sitting there.  I felt crushed the moment they drafted the big, slow, non-separator.  We may well have been able to have him with our own second round pick after his combine performance.  Have never wanted him, tried to come around and get behind Coleman, tried to convince myself based on baloney concerning the top speed he can reach in his routes.  And there have been a few moments, but all-in-all McConkey's play breaks my heart.  Was a terrible miss.

Of all the mock drafts on this board ahead of that draft,  I saw zero that even mentioned Coleman.

Exactly. What on Earth did scouts see?  Inexcusable.

Who says scouts didn't see this and were over ruled

I will say this about Beane. He better hope that the coaching staff and players he brought in figure it. Otherwise, I got news for you, McDermott is not taking the fall for Beane. Beane will be gone after the season, the trading deadline may have been the final straw.

McD is always looking for that next scapegoat and it looks like he’s found one. It shouldn’t go like that but I definitely get it.

The kind that sets franchises back.  Like taking Elam - jump up and get McDuffie, take Ladd McConkey.  Two moves, how different would our team look?

Superbowl.  Yes adding an all pro corner instead of Elam and then McConkey would have got us over the hump against KC last year.

I mean unless they have some mystery Injuries that seem to happen in our practices...

Yes sorry you are missing my point. Beane has made some fine picks. And the job he had isn’t the easiest - coming to a team just out of a 17 year old draught, finding a QB that became elite but took most of his rookie contract to get there. He has had more challenges than other GMs for recent superbowl teams. He is not a terrible GM.

As I have said before, I don’t care about where we are drafting. Sure he is getting above average value, but many of those GMs that are doing worse than him no longer have a job. I am measuring him against the stalwart GMs whose results have led to an extended tenure like his. They have either drafted, traded or signed their way (often times all three) to enough elite talent on rosters to get to the Super Bowl. Beane’s cumulative has not been good enough.

This has devolved into a conversation of is Beane a good drafted or not. I think this benching of Keon is as much due to the position they put Keon in (being the guy expected to replace Diggs because they haven’t done anything else significant to do so) as it is Keons ability and effort.

Then find another way to get them - trade picks for starters or sign in free agency if it is soooo impossible. Somehow others teams have done it. He did it once with Diggs and that was his best move behind drafting Allen. If you can’t scout yourself into great talent, then trade for it. But that would require being better with your salary cap to be able to acquire players with larger contracts. Something we have struggled with since Allen’s rookie contract has ended.

Mrs. Beane is that you?

And if true they could have had Waddle for a 2026 first, OMG. There is no guarantee McBeane will draft a better player than Waddle, what a colossal failure that non move was by Beane if the rumors were true of course.

When do they announce inactives?  Isn't it at latest 90 minutes before kickoff?

I get my Bills Inactives from the Bills Twitter account at about 11:30. Keep refreshing that link.

For example: this was last week:

Jumping up for McDuffie cost us an additional 3rd in that draft that turned into Terrell Bernard. It's debatable but honestly I don't see McDuffie as a missing piece on this defense. Ladd has played well but did this team need another slot WR? So a defense without Taron Johnson (as assume McDuffie replaces with him) and Bernard. And an offense with Ladd in the slot vs Shakir oh and still questions at outside WR. Yeah not seeing a significant improvement.
