Ray Stonada Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) I don't remember a game this late in a season where three potentially important players saw their first action in a Bills uniform. Our defense looked completely different and while part of it might be McD calling plays, a lot of it has to be these guys, who know where to be and run fast enough to get there... What did you think? I am especially curious to hear what those who watch the all-22 have to say... how did they look? Maxwell Hairston, CB, #31: For me, Hairston flashed as an athlete, no question. Love to see it and sorely needed on the Bills. Michael Hoecht, DE, #55: Hoecht looked like he was lifting a car off a kid: crazy strength and fury in his play style. Loved it. Larry Ogunjobi, DT, #99: Ogunjobi: saw him in on some tackles but I didn't really get a sense of him. Jordan Hancock, DB, #37: Hancock is not new, but he had five tackles and generally looked good! RobbRiddick Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago yeah the defense looked much improved. We'll see how they look Vs KC. Walker looked good again and is really coming along, and it's also great (fingers and toes crossed)to see Bosa still healthy. Ed was the one bad spot, oh and Taron who looks a shell of his former self. 2 2 Quote
Buffalo Boy Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Hairston smacking the runner on the end around was nice. Tells me he is comfortable after the injury. Hoecht looked like a potential game wrecker and the “ energy “ he brought is something we haven’t seen on this D since? While not new, Shaq gets a shout out too. Dude needs to be on the field as a starter from here on out. For those who didn’t see it, he was an integral part of the AJE pick. They showed a closeup replay of him calling the screen before the ball was snapped. But, next week will give us a better idea about this D and how it is being called. And I suppose the O as well. 10 3 2 Quote

I didn't get to see any of the game so I'm depending on those of you that did for did bits until I can see the highlights but it is definitely encouraging to here what you have posted and I'm glad that Hoetch has brought some much needed energy to the D as you said it has been sorely missing . I hate that Ed got dinged and hope that he can get back soon, although I feel he isn't the game wrecker that he is being paid to be he can be just 1 more piece that other teams have to at the very least keep a eye on & while doing so might open up another player like Oganjoby to get some pressure or a sack because it's not always just 1 player and can be a sum of all of the parts that lead to success . Let's hope moving forward health can be a main stay so that they all can get a cohesiveness to their playing together, I feel like that was something with Poyer & Hyde may have made them as good as they were their familiarity with each other and consistently being on the field helps & I think going forward can be a huge help to this unit with all of the new pieces !! Consistency can lead to great Chemistry & hopefully better production !!! 1 Quote
YoloinOhio Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I dont know if they know what they're doing, but the difference in speed/athleticism with hairston and hancock stood out to me 9 8 Quote

I 100% agree with your assessment of all four. I want to see more of Hancock. It is nice having Poyer as insurance and as a mentor to him and Bishop. But the Bills are far more athletic with Bishop and Hancock on the field. In addition, I will add that Shaq Thompson and Dorain Williams need to be our regular starting Linebackers. Think about this: In one game, the defense improved substantially by adding speed and strength in getting Hoecht, Ogunjobi, Thompson, Williams, Hairston, and Hancock on the field. That's an addition of six new starting-quality players. And, these new people make our other new people—Bosa, Walker, and Bishop—better. I know it is only one game, but for the first time this season, the defense looked legitimate. Talent makes all coaches smarter. 9 1 2 Quote

The he and an O lineman fall on top of his arm awkwardly 🤬 Freaking D can never catch a break. If you have him and Hoecht both in games playing like that , ooof 1 3 Quote

MPL Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Hairston’s first NFL tackle took a guy out of the game. Thought he looked pretty sticky in coverage but need a closer look at all-22. I don’t know why, but I’ve just got a feeling — and I think a lot of Bills fans have this feeling —that Jordan Hancock is going to be something. Thought it was very interesting that they had him in for Poyer on obvious passing downs. 3 1 2 Quote
SoCal Deek Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Hoecht played like he could lift a car off of a kid? Maybe that six game suspension wasn’t enough time for those PEDs to completely work their way out of his system after all. 😉 12 Quote
Juice_32 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I made a point to keep my eye on Larry O, I thought he did a good job. He ate up two blockers, pushed the pocket. That guy seems stout. 4 1 2 Quote

Looking at Hoecht you really have to think he's on something. Hopefully he is now doing in a legal way. 1 1 Quote

Yes we infused some talent but it’s also one of the less threatening qb/rb pairs we have faced and no dominant wr. 1 Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) They were noticeably faster. Inserting Hairston, Hoecht and Hancock added so much speed. We just need to find a few more guys whose last names start with “H” to inject. Edited 10 hours ago by Kirby Jackson 1 1 Quote

bills6969 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Agree, but unsure how much of it was due to playing a weak offense. Next week will tell us a lot. 2 Quote
Big Turk Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I tried to tell people this was going to be a work on progress thru much of the season exactly for this reason. All we need is for them to peak during the right time. We don't need for them to be amazing all year long. 2 Quote

shane nelson Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Personally i thought it would take half way through the season to understand the capabilities of our defense. Let hope this is the start of a trend and not an event. KC will be a HUGE test 2 2 Quote
