Special K Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago The Bills Defense has only forced 5 turnovers in 6 games.....tied for 26th place in the league. If this D was forcing turnovers, it would look like Natalie Portman......when it doesn't force turnovers, it looks like Natalie the toothless cat lady in the park. I know turnovers can be a matter of luck in some cases, but I hope the Bills D put a premium on figuring out ways to force more turnovers during the bye week.....this D will probably not be able to stop teams consistently without them. Thoughts?? 1 Quote

EmotionallyUnstable Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago The idea that generating turnovers is a means to win football games is a false narrative. It is an unreliable strategy and as you acknowledge, often times has a sense of randomness to it. You cannot rely on this. It is much more important to limit turnovers than it is to try and force them. 1 1 Quote

Thoughts?? Well it’s been too many years and consistency to say it’s luck. It does suck, but K I agree 100%. 1 Quote

Thoughts?? I agree. So far this year there have been 3 key components that were outstanding last year that have regressed to the means. Forcing turnovers are one of them. Second was the low amount of sacks given up last year. Third is the fact that no one outside of Allen caused a turnover last year on offense. 1 Quote
Pete Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago To intercept, you usually have to defend the pass. Through 6 games the Bills have 16 passes defended. Greg Rousseau has 2. AJ 1. Zion Logue 1. Deone has 1. So DL has 5 of 16 Passes Defended 1 Quote

bubba2018 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago terrell bernard is honestly not that good but he does force turnovers so i’ve always just let it slide🤣🤣 Quote
DJB Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Didn’t this D lead the league in turnovers last year ? Seems like it covered up all the other mistakes we were making . Now we don’t have the turnovers and the D is being exposed 1 Quote
Sojourner Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago For the personnel be it lack of quality drafting or injuries, I might be in the minority who think they’ve not been horrible the last few games. Turning the ball over on offense is the contingent thing over the last 2 games and not the defense failing to get theirs imo. People can bag on the defense for the Falcons game but they played drastically better the second half of that game than they did the first. Quote
The Firebaugh Kid Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago That’s how they survived last year. Not a sustainable approach. 1 Quote
JerseyBills Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago last cpl years we forced alot of turnovers, we had a cpl near ints this year but I always said turnovers are not a sustainable part of a defense, it will fluctuate year to year Quote
thewookie1 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I remember prior to the Saints game Eric Wood said something that stuck with me since. He said the Bills defenders, on average pull off more turnovers because they are actively coached to do so. While this year we haven’t seen it happen as much as per usual; it certainly could be a cause for the tackling issues we have. Angles for strip tackles differ from sound tackle angles. Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Pass rush and tackling Turnovers will come when the offense puts up big scores forcing the opponent to abandon running the ball Quote
The Jokeman Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago We had one on the first play from scrimmage against the Falcons, gotta wonder how different the game plays out of no flag. Quote
Maine-iac Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago McDermott defenses have never been great at stopping the run with any consistency. We usually survive that or compensate with getting negative plays and pushing them into longer down and distances. The difference is that the last two years this defense can't cover. I even think our pass rush is better than it's ever been especially when our starting line is healthy. Again the difference is that the pass rush isn't very effective when someone is always open at the snap. I hope Hairston is a huge upgrade at corner and Bishop continues to make progress. Maybe Poyer has something left in the tank or the let Hancock get in there and he shows something. Either way we need to find a way to cover the other teams pass catchers and give the pass rush a chance. Beyond that I certainly can agree the tackling is a pretty big problem as well. Quote
Freddie's Dead Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago They did force a turnover on the Falcons first play from scrimmage, but there was that unsightly Offside penalty on Groot... Quote
