That coaching staff / offense situation could hold a player back, but I would not bet on it here. My guess is they’d sooner turn to Gabe Davis if all medicals are equal. Is he being outplayed or did the team just choose to play younger players to see what they had? Many times in these situations with new coaches and a rookie QB, they want to see what they have with young players to see what they are going to need at those positions especially when the older vet likely won't fit into their plans long term or is on a one year deal. 1 1 Quote

JP51 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Yeah I want to upgrade and add speed not looking to get another mediocre receiver that is really similar to the WR by committee group we have. 3 minutes ago, Goin Breakdown said: This smells like a Beane signing. It would indeed be typical Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Well, he’s a few years younger than Methuselah, so git er dun 😂 1 Quote
thenorthremembers Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) If a player cant give you more than Keon on the outside, and Lockett cant, there is no reason to bring him in. Edited 7 hours ago by thenorthremembers 1 Quote

Could be. I feel like that cuts both ways. With a rookie QB they want to surround them with vets who are familiar with the league and can help them transition to the next level of football. Probably each is true to a degree. Quote

Yes, there was a point in Locketts career where he was better than both - but this aint it. As someone said, I would rather call up Davis than sign an older version of guys we already dont use properly. That’s what I’ve been telling anybody that will listen about our receivers. While I would love to add top and talent, we don’t even use the guys we have. This offense is just weird. 1 Quote
racketmaster Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Lockett has over 8600 yards and 61 tds in his career. Not sure how much tread is left on the tires but he had 600 yards receiving last year which is more than we normally get from our starting wrs. We don’t have to give up any draft picks so why not bring him in. He is likely to be better than holding out hope that Davis can give us something coming off an acl. Beane could still make other trades at wr or other positions to help upgrade the roster. I don’t see much of any downside. Edited 6 hours ago by racketmaster 1 1 Quote
dorquemada Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago This is obviously what beane is going to do. Can't hurt I guess but low probability that it will help either Quote
Let's Go Buffalo Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I think he still has enough left in the tank to make a difference. 1 Quote
SoCal Deek Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Not unless he spends some time in Carolina first. Obviously Quote

People only want him because they heard the name, what in the last couple years would excite you about this? Here’s the thing - he wasn’t far off on stats from our vaunted Shakir. With Allen throwing the rock to him, he’d be right there. Quote
Richard Noggin Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 4 hours ago, PauleeeWalnuts said: Nah he’s cooked. Elevating Gabe when healthy would be basically the same except he knows the system. But did he really ever master it? Had some big moments down the field against man coverage (which is something the team needs now for sure). But was kind of Coleman-like against the zone and on option routes and with identifying pressure and whatnot. Had difficulty adjusting post-snap, and was therefore super inefficient. His habit of "clapping" his hands together to let Allen's heaters clang off him was basically the WR yips. Total degradation of fundamentals. 1 Quote
ngbills Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Maybe after chiefs trade for waddle, pats trade for Ridley and Steelers get aj brown. We will laugh as we get Lockett in a steal. Quote
