Remember they lost to the Bills because Ricard wasn't available and Likely was out. Lol Quote

I can't remember if Wentz was on big money then but I think he was in the MVP conversation around that time He wasn't. Still on his rookie contract. But yes, he was in MVP contention. 1 Quote

Reminder again that even some of the better teams in the league find 3 or 4 of their best players going down is too hard to overcome. Next man up is a cute theory. When it is your best guys it simply doesn't work. EDIT: worth adding as well that is even more the risk you take when you go for the stars and filler model of roster building. When I look at their roster I struggle to find a single spot where their depth is as good as the Bills depth. I can find plenty where their starters are better, sure, but their build relies a lot more on their guys staying healthy. I have been as critical as anyone of the Bills lack of stars, but it is right to credit them with their depth. It’s worth noting that the Ravens’ schedule does get easier in a few weeks (I think they lose to Houston this week), but if it gets uglier, this could be Harbaugh’s last season in Baltimore… 1 Quote

And still no update on the mysterious Lamar hamstring injury… The Ravens carnage on that game was insane: Lamar -- Hammy -- Feelings hurt Stanley LT -- Ankle issues -- Continues to have issues staying on the field Smith LB -- Hammy -- Promised a Ravens victory over the Bills -- out multiple weeks Wiggins CB -- Elbow/Arm/Shoulder? -- Bright young corner. Heard he was fastest player on team Humphrey CB -- Hammy -- Caused a stir with his Lions decimation day-after podcast -- out multiple weeks Week leading up to game Madubuike DL -- Out for season Washington DL -- 4 week or more IR stint Jones DL -- Knee issues Van Noy LB -- Hammy Ricard FB -- Calf issues. They looked good this past Sunday, but, before that, I had not been impressed even in their wins. And will Rodgers hold up? So if not the Ravens and Steeler, what? The Bengals look dreadful without Burrow. The Browns? Somebody has to win the division. I think both Ravens and Steelers are capable of getting 9-10 wins. If the Browns had a real QB, they could easily surpass that number. 1 hour ago, GunnerBill said: For sure. I am not saying one is right and one is wrong. My point was more the salary cap forces you to make some choices and then you need a bit of luck for those choices to work out. According to some posters, luck has never been a factor in any of the Bills playoff exits since 2019. 1 hour ago, Royale with Cheese said: Wentz looked the next Josh Allen before that injury. Don't know what happened to him after. It's not physical, he just can't mentally process the game anymore. Wentz has never grown beyond the way he played as a sophomore QB. Given that Philly continued to win with Foles after Wentz went down -- including the Lombardi -- I think Wentz was terribly over rated because his supporting was so good. 1 Quote

As much as all the players missing will hurt, i expect them to probably sit back in zones and dare houston to run - then send the house on 3rd and longs. Houston's got a weak o-line, and even the backups with baltimore are a bunch of big boys that will clog it up and make it tougher to run the ball. Houston haven't been able to run the ball much. Strouds also running more, and getting sacked more. It's in baltimore, and stroud's traditionally been considerably worse on the road. He's also been considerably worse outdoors. Baltimore beat the crap out of them last year in Houston 31-2, and they basically just ran the ball the entire game. I know they're missing some people... but season's on the line for a SB favorite - i don't see them laying down. 1 Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Ravens seem like they are done. Unfortunately that means they get a top 15 draft pick next year. Wonder if they decide this is the time to move on from Harbaugh??? 2 hours ago, NewEra said: They were historically healthy last season. hopefully we can be historically healthy this season No chance of that....Brown, Milano, Oliver, Bass, and Hairston have all missed games and were starters or presumed starters. The starting 5 OL started every game last year. That streak is already over. Shakir is still playing injured. Quote

HappyDays Posted September 30 Posted September 30 They can't beat Texans or Rams with Lamar out on top of all the other injuries. I know their schedule gets easier but 1-5 is quite the hole to dig out of. They can only afford maybe 2 losses in their last 11 games and there's no guarantee some of these injured players will come back the same. Quote

I'll believe it when I see it. If he comes back, he (a) gets lauded for his toughness and (b) has a built-in excuse if things go sideways. If he doesn't come back, it'll be excused as "they've had so many injuries, season's over anyway." He may not have an agent, but he's got a great PR team. 6 minutes ago, HappyDays said: They can't beat Texans or Rams with Lamar out on top of all the other injuries. But their schedule after that is cottony soft, and I would not rule out 10-7, which could be good enough to win the division, or a WC. Quote

For years now they've been a strong competitor for the Bills so we sort of hoped they wouldn't do all that well, but what's going on with all these injuries is really devastating. I don't feel sorry for them. The organization and the Ravens fans can curl up at night with their Lombardi trophies and lament their injury issues. I feel sorry for the Bills and our fans. Maybe one of the most dominant teams statistically for several years running and we don't even have a SB appearance to show for it, let alone trophies. Quote

And still no update on the mysterious Lamar hamstring injury… The one scary thing here is if both Ravens and Bengals keep losing, they could get some decent draft picks and be even better in 2 years. I've seen that happen a bunch where a good team has injuries ends up drafting in top 10 and can reload on the fly. Fortunately they play each other and Cleveland, plus throw in Jets and Miami so may be tough for either of them to not win 5 or 6 games Quote
