Golden*Wheels Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Yo just gotta throw this out there today: During the game they announced a highlights package called "Tony's Tape Room" and without missing a beat my wife (the kindest, nicest person in the world) says "yeah, tape over your mouth maybe" Take THAT Romo! 2 7 Quote

The only advantage Bass gives you is the hypothetical length to nail an emergency 60+ and frankly we have a QB who's savvy enough to play to his kicker's target line in an end-game drill. Except I think it was Romo yesterday that was saying that Prater in his career has the most [82] 50+ yard kicks. [not even close for the second place kicker - Janikowski]. Prater's career long is 64, some of this is skewed by his long service at altitude in Denver. 1 Quote

Jauronimo Posted September 15 Posted September 15 I think we had too many starters on defense in week 1. 4 Quote

This guy is now looking to be more of an incompetent coach than we thought before. Not sure he's an incompetent coach. It's a seriously difficult job and he's still a young man. But he looks fried and his head has gone. He needs a year break at least, you'd think. For his own good. In elite sport, it's how you handle defeat that really makes the great ones great. I was watching the Panthers' coach yesterday and that lad has the mindset. Not too high, not too low. Let the fans show the emotion, you just do your job. McD has that quality too. Dan Campbell, for instance, looks like he's a 4-game losing streak away from driving naked to Canada with a trunk full of hand-grenades. You lose in sport. Things don't go your way sometimes. If you listen to the media and the fans too much, and are too eager to please, the game will surely eat you alive. I don't think any of us really have an inkling what an NFL HC job must be like Edited September 15 by Danger Mouse 2 Quote

Romo’s inability to form full sentences has somehow become worse this year. It’s like his brain just keeps moving on. yesterday he said something to the effect of, Oliver being out is huge, Johnson…..then his brain tailed off. It’s like he tried to say three different things at once, mixed them all in together form a completely incomprehensible sentence with no ending. if the bills are winning I can ignore the two of them but man he has become awful at the job. Everything in a nantz Romo broadcast is like, That right there Jim is why the bills can win a Super Bowl….meanwhile someone made a routine play in the first qtr of week 2. 2 Quote

Him interrupting Nantz on his own career memories was also...something! Jeez. We groan every time we see we get them on the call. I'm not sure if I am more sick of him, or Collinsworth. It is CLOSE. 1 Quote

For some reason I thought he was inactive (even though I read the inactives before the game) but it is good to see him active and even playing in garbage time. I loved him coming out of the draft and it seemed like he had a prototypical marinate for a season rookie year. I was excited to see him in camp and see how he was gonna look year two but he was hurt almost all of camp/pre-season. Very frustrating for him but good that he's back in the fold certainly helps interior O-line depth. Quote

Brianmoorman4jesus Posted September 15 Posted September 15 (edited) I think it’s going to be an unpopular thought here but I actually think the love affair with Tarron Johnson is a huge issue with our defense. He’s a good player. He might even be a little better than good. He’s absolutely nowhere near as good as he gets credit for. Teams have no issues converting 3rd downs on us, guys running wide open all over the place and he gets hurt multiple times a game. The other thing he does is make our coach believe we never have to put a 3rd LB on the field. They never want to take him out. Him being out yesterday was probably a blessing in disguise. I’m not saying he’s not good. I just feel like the overall game plan becomes a little more sensible when he isn’t out there. The coaches think he’s erasing things that he just flat out isn’t. He’s not 2017 Poyer and Hyde…Yesterday was a great day for our defense. Those days are few and far between. Edited September 15 by Brianmoorman4jesus 1 2 1 Quote

But his record and they way they started this season makes him trend towards being incompetent at his position. Quote

Both the players and the coaches deserve all the credit they're getting, on both sides of the ball. I'm especially impressed by the defense, which was not just flying around (they did that last week, too) but executing as well. They adapted, in other words. Bodes well going forward. Quote

Yesterday was a great day for the defense because the QB they faced shouldn't be anywhere near a NFL roster let alone starting for one. The guy doesn't know how to throw a football 2. his snap counts are getting lower each season, week one he only played about 35% of the snaps and last year he was around 50% for the entire season compared to 2022 and 2023 being 90% 1 Quote
