Kaenon Posted September 8 Posted September 8 I'm not a Bass hater, but after he kicked that Miami game-winning FG last season (only game I went to last year), his post-game presser he said he kicks every kick the same regardless of the distance made me quite concerned. Do other kickers do this? I don't feel like they do. Quote
Dunkirk Donski Posted September 8 Posted September 8 I miss Van Miller. I could hear his voice as that kick sailed through the uprights. RIP 1 Quote
zow2 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Let's face it, if Prater keeps making the gimmes and XP's they will find a reason to keep Bass IR'd or whatever. Teams don't mess with kickers if they are going well. But Prater will have some adversity at some point. For now his XP's and kicks look down the middle and not tailing off to the right like Bass sometimes does. 1 Quote
Shortchaz Posted September 8 Posted September 8 I miss watching bass trying to kick the ball out of the stadium on 30 yard field goals. Quote
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted September 8 Posted September 8 I don't hate Bass and he's had some clutch moments but it was nice to have a kicker out there and to not have heart palpitations 1 Quote

I enjoyed that when the camera cut to him in the sideline a couple minutes before the kick he looked like a corporate sponsor that got loose on the sideline. Matt from Logistics. 3 1 Quote

I remember years ago he was very good from 50+ They said in pre-game warmups he made a 53 yarder going in the direction of his game winner. Not sure about the opposite end but that's good enough for me. Quote

But on a running clock to win a bananas game like that, to not worry about the kicker was a cool thing - Robbins did a great job last night because there were at least two sketchy snaps. Quote

Thank you. Bass has been great since he went wide right against the Chiefs. He looks like a nervous wreck, but the results speak for themselves. Let’s not forget the walk off 61 yarder against the Dolphins ! People are so quick to turn on a player. 1 Quote

Butbutbut, he missed a 20-yarder at Detroit!! This just in, FG kickers miss kicks from any distance. Quote

davefan66 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Nice kicking motion. Kicks were straight and true. Prefer to have him be our kicker until he can’t. I’ll say this, Bass doesn’t connect on all those kicks. Quote
sullim4 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 One thing to keep in mind - the K ball rule has changed this season. You can now prep the balls before the day of the game - this is going to significantly help kickers get balls that will travel longer distances. This change will help an older guy like Prater maintain his ability to kick longer field goals. Quote
Success Posted September 8 Posted September 8 There is just something about Bass's kicks. His percentage is fine, but quite a few just seem to be fading right, even on PAT's. It was just good to see someone nailing the easy ones down the middle. 1 Quote

I would agree with this, Bass has a high percentage that fade. 1 Quote
DapperCam Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Bass has more leg for sure, but even routine kicks have me hiding behind my hands and watching through my fingers. Prater seems to split the uprights with no drama. Quote
The Frankish Reich Posted September 8 Posted September 8 I have nothing against Bass. I think he's a very good kicker. But bringing in a 41 year old with about 36 hours to prepare and having him kick a long FG and a highly pressured (remember: no TO to allow the FG team to come on) game winner tells me that maybe we overpay "very good" kickers. Bass is not peak Justin Tucker or Harrison Butker. Those guys are special. So was peak Matt Prater. Quote
pigpen65 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Haven't trusted Bass for a season and a half now. You watch other games and other teams kickers are just routinely knocking in clutch kicks. The Bills need a better kicker. I would be fine with Prater the rest of this season but they will need somebody else to kick off. I don't think he got even one touchback. And that's in September. In a couple weeks when the wind picks up 41 year old leg strength ain't gonna cut it. Quote
