VW82 Posted Friday at 09:39 PM Posted Friday at 09:39 PM This feels like something that will dog us most of the year. I don't trust Prater to make it through the season. 1 Quote
seannc Posted Friday at 09:39 PM Posted Friday at 09:39 PM Between the injuries, the rookies and newcomers, and the majority of starters not playing in the preseason, we have no idea what what we're going to see on Sunday night, do we? A little scary, but kind of exciting! 1 2 Quote

Prater should be fine in the mean time I think. I don't think it matters at this point. Only the first two positions before the final cuts need that. Anyone can return from ir now 31 minutes ago, Doc Brown said: You can still put someone on season ending IR I think. Bass was put on the designated to return IR I think. Shortchaz Posted Friday at 09:44 PM Posted Friday at 09:44 PM Can’t imagine the injuries if we would’ve played our starters in the preseason 🤣 Quote
MasterStrategist Posted Friday at 09:50 PM Posted Friday at 09:50 PM Sucks for Bass, but might be better for team to have Prater. Lateral move at worse IMO. Prater still had a strong leg LY, prior to injury. Quote

I think Prater keeps the job even if Bass comes back. At least the first 4 weeks I don't have to panic with those weird curving kicks Bass makes (or misses) Keeps this job... for how long? You meaning season, or open to possibility of longer? I wont claim 2 know chitt about kickers, but what's the age where they start to fall off a cliff? Personally, I really liked taking a swing at one in the draft in 2021 or whenever it was. I might get flamed but it's an excellent use of resources in principal, IMO. What other position can you take someone as the first at his position, in the 6th round? As much as we all hate it, kickers have a huge effect on games, good or bad. Signing a good one is expensive. So yeah, when a good one comes out again, I'm down to take a late pick swing again. Bass almost was a grand slam really. Looked that way through 2 years, but some yips kicked in, and injuries piling up. It sucks, but if you hit on one, you can have the steadiest stream of points you can get outta a player for 12-15 years. Fun experiment: you have a cosmic chance to trade for a young Justin Tucker, with the power of foresight. And add him to the team right now, rookie salary. You'll know exactly how his career plays out (hes not a sax pervert in this world). Whats the max draft compensation you'd give up to have him starting week 1 for us? Id give up a 2nd ('26), 3rd ('27), and a 4th('28). Probably even do the 3rd + 4th all in '27. How bout yall? Quote

Matt_In_NH Posted Friday at 09:59 PM Posted Friday at 09:59 PM Not surprised after we find out he can’t even practice. Quote
NoName Posted Friday at 10:24 PM Posted Friday at 10:24 PM Wonder why then never brough in former bill Dustin Hopkins for a tryout Quote
JakeFrommStateFarm Posted Friday at 10:40 PM Posted Friday at 10:40 PM Terrible news !! I've been so worried about Bass's pelvis! Quote
Johnnycage46 Posted Friday at 10:43 PM Posted Friday at 10:43 PM Huge upside here is that we don't have to be nervous about Bass's kicks for a while? Obviously, we have to now be nervous about Prater, but one thing at a time here people! 1 1 Quote
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted Friday at 10:48 PM Posted Friday at 10:48 PM I am once again, however briefly, not older than every Bills player. 2 Quote

He is the Fernando Valenzuela of the Bills. Too bad he doesn't dominate like Fernando once did. But Prater is solid. Quote

Denver and mile high before that. I wonder how much swirling wind conditions he saw in the Detroit and Arizona domes. He’s 41 years old. There isn’t/wasn’t a 20-something kicker on the market somewhere? Does the 20 year old have experience kicking in swirling wind conditions? Prater has a ton of experience. He's not someone that is likely to get rattled in a big moment. He's as solid a choice they could have found at this stage imo Quote
TBBills Fan Posted Friday at 11:13 PM Posted Friday at 11:13 PM I also injured my groin, ex #2 was Maniac in bed. It took me a good 6 months to recover. On the bright side, she still walks bull legged because of our fun 1 1 Quote

His last two years he actually played was 24 of 26 so a little more reassuring. I'm not so worried about the dome thing, but a bit worried if this lasts into the winter. Buffalo is about as far away from his historical kicking environment one could get. Even if you don't care for Bass much, which I don't, you have to like the fact that he understands how wild some of these kicks are late in the year and has attempted plenty of them. thenorthremembers Posted Friday at 11:21 PM Posted Friday at 11:21 PM Bass is an above average kicker but they need to move on in the offseason. They can save 8.2 million between 2026 and 2027. Its just run its course at this point. 1 1 Quote
