I, myself would rather see Shavers active on game days if its between the two. Absolutely, positively couldn't agree more. Hell, I want Shavers suited up for game day more than I want Samuel, but maybe that is just me and it is not likely to happen. 1 Quote

I'm not confident his knee will be healthy enough by then. That injury is REALLY lingering. We are basically doing him a favor letting him hang out with his friends and use our great training facilities while he recovers. I don't have a problem with that but even if one of our WRs gets injured I wouldn't hold my breath on Davis in action until after the bye week at the earliest. 1 3 Quote

Virgil Posted Tuesday at 06:36 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:36 PM The minute I saw Gabe at Josh's wedding, I figured Gabe would be back in some capacity. Perfectly fine with this as a PS signing. Gabe is great only when you have zero expectations. 2 1 Quote

Dillenger4 Posted Tuesday at 06:42 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:42 PM Why is everyone all "Shavers is better - let's see Shavers"? I get that we haven't seen Shavers due to the fact that HE HASN'T played more than 2 snaps in the NFL sort o thing. Hopefully Shavers can become something as a WR - but I don't doubt that Davis could be useable for us once he is ready. We will see. GO BILLS Quote
MasterStrategist Posted Tuesday at 06:49 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:49 PM Once healthy, we could do alot worse than Gabe on p/s. Be nice to have a WR with past experience in big games, instead of Jalen Virgils of the world being called up. Gabe isnt here to be a top 3-4 WR, but having a WR that can block and thats been productive is a plus. Good signing imo 1 Quote
Blackbeard Posted Tuesday at 06:49 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:49 PM Gabe has shown to be clutch in huge games. He's hopefully serviceable once healed. Could do a LOT worse than Gabe Davis imo. 3 Quote
Cray51 Posted Tuesday at 06:49 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:49 PM No issues with this. You know he is an NFL player in the system. PS reps and playing games when other guys go down is fine with me. Would you rather call up Gabe Davis for a game? KJ Hamler? Gabe all day for me. 2 Quote

Ennjay Posted Tuesday at 06:52 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:52 PM As a pass catcher . . . OK, that's been covered (and I know the position is wide receiver). But Gabe Davis was a superior blocking WR and I'm wondering if having him around for practice is part of the same theory of strategy that brought back Poyer and Phillips (before the Carter injury): the old dogs somehow influence how the new guys develop. Look, if you go deep into your Practice Squad for game-day players you're in trouble anyway, so let's not treat the PS like it's just a hair below the first string. There's plenty of room for guys who can help in other ways. 1 1 Quote
