Christian Wilkins anyone?

I've seen a couple sources urging the Bills to sign Wilkins as a replacement for DeWayne Carter, out for the season with an Achilles tear.  Wilkins is famous for being accused of dirty play on the field, including grabbing Josh Allen in inappropriate places at the bottom of the pile.  He's also been accused of disruptive locker room behavior.  On the flipside, he does have some talent.  So, he's the antithesis of a process guy, but could actually provide a talent upgrade over the guy he would replace.  Would you sign him?  I have my doubts that the Bills would.

Not sure we need him - we lost a backup rotational DL guy, not a starter.  And we still have TJ and Walker to get into the rotation and 2 guys coming back in 6 weeks on our DL too.  Wilkins doesn't seem like the kind of locker room guy that fits in here, and then add in he may not start either, that could make his locker room presence even more of an issue.

• Would I hate it?  - No, always up for more talent.  
• Do we "need" to?  - No, not IMHO.  
• Do I think it will happen?  - Also no.  

 

DISCLAIMER - We come out against the Ravens and early in the season and our interior DL isnt cutting it and blows - I reserve the right to change my opinion lol.

I’d bring him in and talk to him and dig a little deeper.  Then go with your gut. Not sure what he’s looking to make $ wise, but I wouldn’t be happy if we went to KC, Baltimore, Cinci, Houston, LAC, Denver or the AFC east for a couple mill

He’d be a very big risk due to his foot injury and possible (probable?) locker room issues. He’s also an 3 tech like Oliver. Upside is certainly there tho. I doubt he’s in the Bills price range anyway, but not a great fit IMO.

I know we’re supposed to hate him, but if the price is right? Hes a once great player at his position who plays with an edge. I’d kick those tires.

If he's so great, why is he still unsigned after being cut by the Raiders?

If he is healthy he is a great player.  And he is not quite as weird as Charles Hayley.

Certainly seems like there are mental health issues at play that the public doesn't know about. Various folks in the media have hinted as much.

There's a reason a player of his talent level is just sitting there on the open market with no reported interest.

What we DO know about him is also not great. Kind of a ballbag grabber, ya know?

We know he's not healthy mentally, and that's probably why he's currently unemployed

Bosa is the used Camaro on the lot with the bum transmission.  Wilkins is the used Camaro with the bad engine computer.  You never know what it's going to do. 🤔

This is like your 10 speed bike popped a tire, so you run out and buy a Harley. 

 

Typically, I don't see teams replace a DT5 with a former pro bowl level player. The math doesn't math here. 

 

That's not even to mention that he seems to be someone that causes issues in the locker room and has a few screws loose. Hard pass on this head case.

If healthy, he’d be the defensive version of Richie Incognito, which worked well for the Bills for the first couple years.  Anything we can do to create added pressure on LJ, Burrows, and Mahomes should be pursued.
