Dwayne Carter Out for the Season

Carter was the 5th DT on the depth chart and would have been 6 when Larry O comes back.  They are going to be just fine without him, short and long term. Shame for the young man though.

Damn it sucks.  But honestly, I don’t think he was playing much this season anyway.   He probably would’ve been a healthy scratch as he was last season.  
 
I like the draft pick at the time but I’ve never been overly impressed with Carter, sans 1 or 2 plays against Tennessee last season.   You can blame the injury if you want, but his tape last year was really bad.   It’s not coincidence the Bills drafted 2 players at Carter’s same position this year.  
 

Beane said they were hoping to move him to 1-Tech but that’s not his natural position and I don’t feel it would have went well

He never was average in the NFL.  His play was below average most of the time

That's a fair point.

 

But that doesn't mean it can't be done. It would just mean one of Kendrick Green, Dan Feeny, Jordan Phillips, Dane Jackson, Jordan Poyer, or Sam Franklin are moved off and replaced with a developmental guy.

 

I don't think it's crazy to think they'd move on from one of their two vet Center's in Kendrick Green or Dan Feeny or one of their two vet Safeties in Jordan Poyer or Sam Franklin to bring back one of Ankou or Jefferson. Likely the 2nd IOL, as Franklin is more ST's than Safety.

 

As the 1T spot is one injury away from being called up and whoever the last man on the totem pole is at Center is two injuries away from being called up.

I’m one of the few that respect Jordan Philips game. I love the energy he brings and If schemed properly is still a pass rush threat. No offense to Carter, but he wasn’t looking like his career was going anywhere. Maybe that’s not fair, but you’re only useful if u can get on the field.

Not saying that’s what happened here, but it’s likely a contributing factor to the point you made.  

That’s exactly the reason and this is why depth is even more important. You almost have to assume a couple big names will be injured come playoff time. It’s so important to not have a massive drop off in talent or you end up like Buffalo when Benford went down against the Chiefs.

I don’t think the injury will impact our season.  I do think it ends his chances of making the team next season.  Will probably cut him or just IR him again next year
