Spent an entire draft on Defense....again, and this is where we are, bringing Jordan Phillips back, Jordan poyer, and Levi Wallace in town.  Beane and McDermott have drafted defense by a large margin since being here, used the most cap on defensive fa, and have not got it right once, to add icing on the cake they refuse to get the unicorn qb any help at wr.....at the cost of defensive picks and fa they can't get right.  There is a lot of reasons people have been on the fire McDermott and Beane train for quite a while now and this is just 1 of them.  A major one at that

Wow, did not see that coming. I guess they are getting the band back together.

thinking on it, I guess I like him over Hamlin as a backup.

Problem is the band retired a decade ago and can't put out a hit anymore

I don't get any negative views on this.  It is a practice squad signing.  He is a well liked by both players and coaches.  He has been in the system for a long time, and they know his football acumen.

Even if they are changing up the defense some, you know he is a guy that can handle and teach the changes in the system.

I see a perfect use of the practice squad being a combination of guys like this and guys like Shavers that have some upside and you can stash for development to compete for a spot in the future.

This additional "help" for Bishop every year seems to be the new "Edmunds is only 21" schtick.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was for Hancock also, possibly more so for him.  It really is Rapp and not much else there right now.

They wish it was colder.   :)

I have no problem with adding a vet to help reach the younger guys in a way a coach can’t. Another guiding voice can’t hurt.

Rapp isn’t very good either.

It’s not a schtick, it’s logic.  Poyer knows this defense extraordinarily well.  He can mentor a second year guy.  Unless you’re the type who thinks every second year guy should know all there is to know about football.  Which is of course ridiculous.

Hate to break this to you, but most if not all veterans still available at this time of year are toast.

It’s crazy.

i had the same criticism when we signed Von.  We draft all these DE’s early- Groot, AJ, Boogie- and then have to go out and spend $100M on an old player to get any impact

Like it.  He will do more for the team, whether or not he ever touches the field, than some developmental lineman we never heard of when we already have a flock of DL and OL on the 53.  Let the man retire a Bill.  I am sure Hyde added last year on the PS and so will Po.  Just don't let him near Keon!

Pretty sure he makes 21k per week on the PS.  Do the math.  It’s not chump change.

He’ll probably get a chance to play if the guys they currently have get injured or show that they suck.

I think he’s there to be a locker room guy, help the youngsters and get a ring

If anyone here can drop a line to Beane... I just so happen to be a great mentor and locker room presence too!  And since I'll never see the field either, does it really matter that I've never played a snap of football?

One guy says "cooked" on Page 1...all the sheep follow in order.  I have read "he's cooked" 20+ times in this thread.

The more you say it doesn't make it so.

Great signing.
