I started wondering if the fact that this team has been knocking on the door for quite a few years but never broken through is starting to take a toll on them mentally. I'm worried, but I worry about everything, all the time. We'll have a better idea of where things stand after the Ravens game. I think it will erase a lot of uncertainty if we come out & just look like ourselves that game, win or lose. Have you looked at the schedule? Do any of the opponents between Ravens and Chiefs concern you? They could lose to the Ravens and easily be 6-1 by the time they play the Chiefs. 1

I'd agree that we're still set up well to have a good record and win the division. We have one of the better SOS out there. 1
jahnyc Posted Friday at 04:26 PM Posted Friday at 04:26 PM A little weird that no news about Tre has leaked so far.

Last year the Ravens curb stomped us in regular season and we beat the Chiefs in regular season. And then later on, we eliminate the Ravens, the Chiefs eliminated us. It's a week 1 game. Many teams (and the SB era pats were famous for this) don't really even know what type of team they are until week 4 or 5. All the Ravens game will do is show us who won in week one. No more, no less. 1 1 1

I can tell you ours.. Samuel, Kincaid, Bernard, Milano, Benford, Tre, Taron, Rapp, Bishop. Is it shocking that we’ve been down corners, linebackers and safeties in the postseason? I will say Von at 32 looked to be the difference maker that changed our defense. Thats just horrible luck. Chiefs just extended Chris Jones at age 30 last year. First time I can think of them taking on an aging player with a large financial commitment. This isn't correct. The Bills, by far, since McDermott have been here have lost the fewest man games to injury and are in the top 5 virtually every year in this stat. 1 1 1

I think we'll just feel better if we see this team play a real game and pass the eye test of being one of the top 5 or so teams in the NFL. Granted, we've had games where we haven't looked like that every season, but I just think it will calm some nerves if we look alright. Mainly mine. 1

Theres been almost zero positivity in the fanbase since that game. Throw in a new soft tissue injury every day at practice and this has been a longggg preseason. On paper, this team is much, MUCH better than last year. Palmer > Cooper Keon > Rookie Keon/Hollins Shakir = Shakir Add in some combination of Moore, Samuel, Shavers, Shenault as depth.. and in Moore, we have a guy who can actually have big games as a depth WR4. OL is exactly the same and it was a Top 3 OL last year with a developing Torrence. Same above average RB room. TE room essentially the same, but with the hope Kincaid isn’t playing hurt most of the year and has his Year 3 breakout. Our DL is so much more talented, with such a higher ceiling than last year .. especially when Hoecht gets back. Our back 7 was meh last year and that was without a healthy Milano. CB2/S2 are still an issue.. but they were an issue last year. This team is far more talented than last year. But like I said .. it’s been a longggg preseason without much good news aside from Keon & Shavers having a good camp. Cook holdout, injuries, backups getting destroyed in preseason games. It’s taking a toll and the regular season needs to get here asap. Edited Friday at 04:44 PM by SCBills 1 1 1

The one thing I know for sure is this bipolar board we come to will vastly overreact to whatever happens week one. I'm expecting this board to be complete chaos after the Ravens game. 2

AFC West looks much improved and they were banging on the door last year.

Like giving up 90 pts to the rams and lions last year rattled everyone in the midst of a 13 win season. We clinched the division on Dec 1 and no one felt good. By this point hasn't this team and regime earned some patience? We've started strong, we've started slow, we've reset the offense mid year, we've had Diggs drama, the snowstorms, the Damar and Kim Pegula stuff, the shooting. We just keep on bouncing back. We've barely played any starters. What do you expect to get hyped about? Last year we were picked to finish 3rd or 4th in the east and the bears blew us out in the preseason. I doubt anyone was hyped then either 1 1
RunTheBall Posted Friday at 04:52 PM Posted Friday at 04:52 PM I’m kinda shocked so many of you still put any stock whatsoever in a pre season game If we beat them by the same score instead of getting whooped, I’d feel the exact same way as I do now about the team. I don’t start drawing any conclusions or start trying to predict the future until I see them play 3-4 regular season games 3 2 3

Just hope to get in the playoffs? Now it feels like we can legit win the whole thing. So with the expectation of a Super Bowl win - not a division title - win the whole thing. Here are our pre season “highlights.” 1. We resigned our own - that’s great but they’ve been here and our D was terribly mid last year - how is it better? 2. The 2 new Def line guys get suspended 3. The 3 Rookie D line guys have played a majority of the snaps in 2 preseason games where we got shredded. Nothing to get super excited about …… yet. 4. Our first round pick has a significant injury where we may not see him till October 5. Our starting safety we are counting on can’t stay on the field. The coach is essentially calling him out. 6. The first “hold out” under Beane happened. 7. We have looked God awful in the 2 preseason games - not counting the 1st quarter vs the Giants where Bosa and Milano looked great. 8. Why was Gabe Davis here? 9. Tre White hurt. 10. Competition from New England is legit. Their schedule is very easy and they look ready to take the next step. I think Maye is the best QB of that rookie class. Their rookie RB is lighting it up. They will be tough. The challenges from the Dolphins and Jets were based on a HOF QB add that fizzled out and then Tua got hurt. This is different. Edited Friday at 05:14 PM by Big Blitz 1 1 1 3

Most of this is just nothingburgers (Cook's hold-in was like a week and ended positively, Gabe Davis isn't even signed, preseason is just preseason and injuries happen), but I do agree that New England looks poised to push us. And I do slightly worry about the mindset of the team (McDermott imploring the vets to get it in gear during that one clip) and whether they aren't distracted by the Hard Knocks stuff. I can definitely see a slow start to the season where we are forced to play catch-up to push past the Pats (see 2023). 1 1
