Special K Posted August 18 Posted August 18 I must admit that I thought Elijah Moore was a lock to make the roster when he was signed...now I am not so sure. Granted we have not seen him on the field with Josh Allen in a game, but I haven't seen anything from him in camp or in the games. I really thought he was going to make the most of this opportunity, but if Samuel is healthy, he has a legitimate chance of losing the final receiver spot to Shavers. Thoughts?? 1 Quote
LABILLBACKER Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Shavers & Wilkerson have impressed me more than Samuel & Moore. And the more I watch Bishop fail, the more sad I get re: we could've used that pick to get BTJ. 8 6 Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted August 18 Posted August 18 (edited) I said it after the first preseason game that I think, and the race and battle isn’t over, but I think Shavers has edged his way ahead in this battle. And I was pretty confident Moore was going to make this roster prior to that, but I think Shavers is doing everything he can to change that. Edited August 18 by Alphadawg7 1 Quote
HappyDays Posted August 18 Posted August 18 The optimism about Moore after we signed him got way way out of control. Many people on here thought he was going to have a bigger role than Keon Coleman. Fans acted like because he's never had good QB play that means his entire career up to this point didn't count. It turns out the NFL does a pretty good job of evaluating its own talent. There's a reason a top 35 pick was cut by his original team after just two seasons, his next team showed no interest in bringing him back, and he was still available to be signed after the draft. People have to learn to let their draft crushes go and accept that some players can have all the talent in the world and still never acclimate to the NFL. Before this game I would have given him a 70% chance of making the roster. Now I'd say just below 50%, and it's only that high because I think they may keep 6 WRs due to Samuel's injury. If the final spot comes down to Moore vs Shavers I don't know how the coaches can look the locker room in the eyes and tell them Moore won that competition. Shavers has played better and he contributes more on special teams. In fact I might put Wilkerson ahead of Moore at this point. 4 6 Quote
Mark Vader Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Shavers is looking better than Moore. I think Shavers will make the active roster. Kristian Wilkerson looks like he's practice squad bound. I know that we are talking about receivers in this thread, but I must say that I like what I've seen from Jimmy Ciarlo. His impact is on special teams, and because of that he will also make it to the practice squad. 2 4 Quote
BillMafia716ix Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Shavers is a lock. He’s earned his spot. Moore or Samuel will be cut. 1 Quote
Niagara Dude Posted August 18 Posted August 18 (edited) They all suck and Beane should be called out again for the garbage wr's he has given Allen, compare this with what other elite QB'S in this league have to work with Edited, I do like Shakir who i believe is a solid #2 or #3. The remaining guys are just not very good and Beane needs to do better for Allen. Edited August 18 by Niagara Dude 3 2 4 6 1 Quote

I would agree with how money is spent, but after Diggs was traded Beane still has not got around to getting Allen a true #1 WR. Quote

Hopefully it stops Beano throwing all our spare FA dollars there on mid range FAs year after year. 3 Quote
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Honestly in the spring time I thought he was a lock. Not necessarily to crack a starting role but we were so short at WR, especially one who could play vertical. Early signs were incredibly positive at OTAs. There was absolutely a lane. And then Moore washed out in training camp and Coleman has had, by multiple accounts, one of the best camps out of anyone. So yeah I think there's a real possibility 2 Quote

And these DT and DEs don't come cheap even at mid-tier...and they all are mercenaries....I don't think you can build a team around so many of those types of players... 1 Quote

BuffaloBill Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Samuel is more of a disappointment to me. The guy has collected a lot of money for doing absolutely nothing of consequence in Buffalo. 2 1 Quote

On another note, people sleep on how Josh lifts up everyone on offense. In preseason we are watching Elijah Moore with horrendous Mike White and subpar Trubisky. All these receivers will look better when Allen is throwing them the football. 3 1 Quote
MPL Posted August 18 Posted August 18 I refuse to judge Elijah Moore in a game where your 3rd QB and backup O-Line are playing the majority of the game. Also, I don't think Moore and Shavers are competing for the same roster spot. If Shavers makes the team, he's likely the 6th WR, or they cut Samuel... but I think carrying 6 WR is more likely even though they haven't typically done that. 1 Quote
Matt_In_NH Posted August 18 Posted August 18 People read more into one or two preseason plays than is necessary. 2 2 Quote

Samuel, Moore and Palmer were all meh pickups when we signed them and nothing has changed that. I'd rather have Amari Cooper, he didn't do much at all but he at least had hands and would make at least 1 phenomonal catch every other game, those 3 do absolutely nothing for me.
