If Jimbo only averages 753 rushing yards per season over these next 4 contract years, he'll be 3rd on the Bills all-time rushing list.

Look, this board doesn't like to pay RBs (nor does the league anymore up until like last season) - but this continuity is good, and Jimbo is also good.

I feel the deal is fair based on his usage in the offense and his output, and the recent contract extensions of other top RBs.

By the way this is why players hold in and use all the other "drama" tactics that people lambasted Cook over... He forced the issue and put pressure on everyone involved to get a deal done, and as a result he walks away with $30M guaranteed a year before his contract expires. As the man himself said it's just business and fans take it way too personally.

The circular logic here is hilarious.

Because Beane keeps blowing every skilled position draft pick, a two down back who can't pass block and plays less than half the snaps is by default their best weapon (outside of qb of course).

Therefore, because he's their best weapon, this is a great deal. 🤣🤣

I honestly feel bad for Josh. He's keeping most of these buffoons employed here, otherwise they'd all be back in Carolina doing jobs more suited to their qualifications.

As Jeremy White and Joe Marino pointed out on WGR this morning, there was NO drama in the Bills building. All the drama and feelings was among the fans only.

If he consistently has season like last year then he'll have proven to be worth whatever he wants in a new extension.

If he doesnt live up to last year then he has no leverage for such a hold out. Even less than this year as he will be 28-29 years old.

Yeah, unlikely he even gets a CHANCE to do this hold in again.

Yet, I hope he does. If he can put up what he just earned and get a couple 1200 yard seasons with 270-300 carries that'll be amazing. If his average the next 4 yrs is 1000/250 carries I will be pleased enough. He won't get many TDs, so receiving will be important to improve.

If he can do that he can earn the chance to hold out. If he can break 1600 yards in this offense with Allen back there too id be ecstatic so long as it is because he is being the bellweather of ground yards.

But, after that many carries he will be dying on the vine. He has 533 carries on the career of 4 yrs. I'll compare him to Chris Johnson who had 609 carries first 2 years.

the fatal 2000 carries is a long way off for cook but age will creep up... But with his conservative use we may be able to get some good juice squeezed past 30.

All the comments about "Thank God this is over!" surprise me....it didn't really feel that drama laden at all.  Hard Knocks could barely cover it for two minutes there was so little to say.  Our front office really does people management at an elite level

Glad he is in.

would have preferred the 3 yrs 36, 24 guar.

Just hope they have room for McGovern and Torrence next year.

Doesn't the longer deal for the same APY actually make it more likely to keep those guys?  Your example is $8 mil guaranteed per year, his actual deal is $7.5 mil per year

Future reference for the "he doesnt act like he's excited to be here" crowd, THIS is his reaction to the most exciting day of his life. Stop taking it personally.

Seems reasonable Cook is a top 10 RB being paid around 6-8 in terms of RB AAV. He is firmly below the elite RB contracts in CMC and Barkley and more in line with the "very good" RB's comparable to guys like Josh Jacobs.

He won't score 16 rushing td over the life of the contract. Total overpayment for a player who does not get 50% of snap share

Par for your course

glad hes signed.  needed to get done before the season started.  if this has any future ramification on paying the OLine,  then its a problem.   hes a weapon,  but not an every down weapon.  you cant pay top dollar for those kind of luxuries and pay for whats more important.  heres hoping no future problems.  nothing against James btw,  he deserved a raise of some sort.

Maybe he’s so good on the field because he saves all his energy for when he has the ball in his hands?    LOL

I’m glad they got this done.  I’m thinking in a year or 2, this will look like a bargain!

Go Bills!

It seems like a fair deal on face value for both sides, and Cook gets a bit more guaranteed money to hang his hat on. It's not "team friendly" but it isn't outrageous at all.

Signing a player is always a value proposition. Cook has very few snaps on his body compared to similar RBs going into a 2nd contract, and he's excellent at maximizing his opportunities at the position.

I'm surprised anyone is actually upset with the signing. "Meh" I understand, but being mad that we retained a speedster with a unique ability to run between the tackles very efficiently is wild.

Once Gibbs, Montgomery, and Robinson get re-signed this contract wont even be a blip on the radar.

I like the deal and it seems fair for both sides….if Cook keeps playing at the same level, or improves, I think the business/holdout stuff comes  back again 2-3 years from now.

with so much being front loaded, the Bills give up a lot of leverage if he pulls the hold out stuff down the road.

Love it.  Now we’re supposed to worry about another hold out in 2-3 years!

You be you, Bills fans!

So I've asked this before but no one answers this - why is it Cook's deal that makes it so they can't sign their OLine?  Why isn't it Shakir's deal, or Benford's deal, or Groot's deal?  Why is Cook the one that prevents them from making those deals?
