Gregg Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I wonder if the Bills play any of the starters against the Giants this Saturday. 1 Quote

Sounds like he was going to start anyways I more worry about Hairston's development being heavily stunted for his rookie year and it hurting the Bills depth. I think it is in the Bills interest to not overplay Tre and try to limit his snap counts to 60% of the defenses snaps to keep him healthy and more productive. It's not a concern over availability as I think 3-4 weeks off is what's recommended for the injury so by week 1 I think he will be healthy. However, what is concerning for me is will missing camp/pre-season hurt his development and force Tre into a bigger role? Shakir is the one where I do worry will he be ready week 1? 4 minutes ago, Gregg said: I wonder if the Bills play any of the starters against the Giants this Saturday. I would guess not, seems like if there was any pre-season to rest guys it would be this one? 1 Quote

Even if he were to play, I wouldn't be surprised if Shakir had a downsized role versus the Ravens. Possibly emphasize TE and heavy packages to run the ball on the Ravens' much-improved secondary. O..R they? 2 Quote

Maybe something like, "Not to be a Positive Patty or anything, but..." This is a Bills board, historically even our hope should come with a dash of uncertainty, therefore I propose "Optimistic Ophelia". 2 1 Quote
zow2 Posted August 4 Posted August 4 We don't want any starters injured obviously, but that's nearly impossible for every team. The only one we cannot see on the list is #17. Otherwise, new or 2nd stringers guys will step up on opening night and they will perform. 1 Quote

The Shakir injury is most concerning, as high ankle sprains can carry on for awhile and him missing these weeks leading up to the Ravens isn't good. Then you have LB, DL, etc. and its concerning. Nothing you can do about it so it should not be worrisome. 😉 1 Quote

We dodged a bullet with Hairston and his knee scare, and Shakir at least has time to rest before he needs two healthy ankles. I’d be much more upset if he were hurt a week or two (or three) from now. The list is long, but I’m sure most of these injuries are just being treated cautiously. All things considered, if we don’t add to the list significantly I’ll be happy with how we survived the worst part of “football season”, the part that doesn’t count. . Edited August 4 by Augie Quote

gonzo1105 Posted August 4 Posted August 4 The season is over a month away. They are just being cautious with everyone for every nick they get. If this were week 2 of the preseason, and they is still two weeks out from the season opener, I might have a different take but we’re not there yet Quote

boyst Posted August 4 Posted August 4 If he is to miss the Ravens game: Coleman needs to be in at slot; he will match up against Humphrey (6', 210) so Coleman has 4" on him. Humphrey is quick and can recover in speed but he's not as fast as he used to be - what the Ravens will do is funnel that speed up the middle to their safeties. We are ok with that because Coleman will feast or famin. What this would do is clear opportunities up for Knox laying down low or Kincaid running seam routes. Knox sitting in space will be great. The Ravens will have to decide if they are ok letting Coleman potentially run deep on them and Josh connecting or let the shallow stuff free. With Cook playing (as he should, damn dude signed a contract) we will be able to keep an explosive running game up with our 3 RB's. Johnson, assuming he's on the roster and a plan for 2025, will be able to leak out and also be an option on 3rd downs. The Ravens defense is very underrated but we should be able to keep them on the field. So, the inverse, if Shakir plays, will be Shakir running all over the middle pulling coverage schemes to make imbalances. I don't see him as a major factor for this game, honestly. 1 Quote
sherpa Posted August 4 Posted August 4 As a fan since the mid 60's, this situation is ridiculous. Way to many injuries that keep people out of practice. The first thing I look for every day after practice in injury news. Crazy this year. 1 Quote
