I subscribe to texts from Matt Parrino, he sends out updates throughout OTAs and training camp. It's worth the $5 per month. His first update today is that early defensive standouts in team drills were TJ Sanders and Landson Jackson. So that's a promising start. Sanders in particular I am really excited about. The more I watch of him the more I think his skill set will really translate to the NFL.

 

Im really high on both of them and never expected we could get Landon where we did, could be steal of the draft IMHO.  So its even better when we start seeing some early buzz on them and hope that momentum just keeps building throughout camp and preseason

Second update is that Elijah Moore made a lot of plays today and caught a TD from Josh Allen. Parrino also said Tre White did not have a good day, giving up that TD to Moore and another to Samuel.

 

You can read between the lines on these reports to see what the depth chart looks like early. From this we can conclude that Moore is in with the 1st team offense and White is in with the 1st team defense, and least some of the time.

 

Next update is Keon Coleman had a great practice and looked like the best receiver out there.

I use the " even a 747 looks small in the grand canyon "  slap.  Seems to work well.

It definitely reduces the chance that we trade Epenesa imo.  Hope the staff go into the season with the mindset that Bosa won't be available.

He's definitely ***** with people.  I heard Gabe Davis looks excellent out their now that he's fully recovered from his high ankle sprain that limited his production last season.

From his press conference his upper body looks bigger.   He learned some stuff from Von but his length is his x factor.  Add power to really take advantage of optimal matchups.  I think the change in Strength and Conditioning is obvious.  Some guys need to get stronger not faster.  I think Coleman and Rousseau could really benefit from adding some weight and playing bigger.  Their size is already a plus add the play strength to unlock more potential.

You wonder about where he is medical wise after he had surgery for his torn meniscus.  Teams might not want to commit until right up to training camp if he's given the medical clear to play.

He isn't recovered yet.  I think come Sept he is in Buffalo either practice squad or main roster if there is an injury.

I agree with this, but "early in his career" really means his rookie season, with rookie Zack Wilson at QB. What impressed me the most (as best I recall) was his speed to the ball, and quick reflexes.

 

It was only his second season, unfortunately, that saw the beginnings of what many describe as "character issues," which are pretty well documented. It's true that the two seasons of the Jets, and the subsequent two seasons of the Browns were utter crapshow teams... but it definitely tempers my optimism.

I know very little about him, but this post actually gives me some optimism.  Geno Smith was a headcase coming out of college (reports were that his interviews were Shedeur-esque), and that kind of immaturity blossoms in organizations like the Jets to the point guys start punching their teammates....but give them time to grow up and put them in a better environment that doesn't put up with such crap, and guys can resurrect their careers.
