Those 19 teams were generally bad so the algorithm now changes going forward.

 

Those stats would be a different if playoff teams were allowed on the show.

I don't think he's aware of the recent rules for Hard Knocks changing and is assuming based upon the old rules.

 

But it wouldn't surprise me if people other than McDermott wanted it. Specifically the Owners. I don't think it's fair to say that they volunteered. I also don't think it's fair to say that they were forced. Right now, we don't really know. Unless Eisen knows something we don't.

IDK maybe its a good way to kick off some change, maybe let loose a lil.   Coach seems to motivate his guys well, but strikes me is pretty uptight.  He could embrace it and let his hair down a little.  Id think it might serve him to do so more than anyone else.  Coaches are walking heart attacks, if you take out the passion and $$ for a second (just play along for a second), it'd be a pretty crappy job honestly.  How many of us would want to ACTUALLY fight from punch in - punch out, day after day??

 

i know, i know, we all work hard.  some of us here have more stressful jobs than others... but being an NFL Coach is quite literally, every moment of your day under a microscope. being asked to control things you just CAN NOT 100% control, and its all the time.  Compare one of their slow 'off days' to one of our ours on a Friday here or there...  32 jobs on the planet, and how many ppl gunning constantly for one of em.  

 

Coaches can be 72yrs and expected to bring more juice to the table, than a sayyyyy, 4 years past playing days meathead like Mike Vrabel? Let alone a few hundred of the most ambitious humans on the planet.  Sounds exhausting.....  My job has me ready to blow a valve and its nothing like this job.

 

 

........my point is, this could be really fun for the fans, for the players, I'd hope McD will take it as a chance to do the same, and show his locker-room the same.  I'm not in the locker room so all i can do is make an estimated guess...... i could be completely off

Has there been a playoff team that went on hard knock and just flopped because of the distraction it caused?  I'm seriously wondering because it seems to be a concern and I don't know if it's a legit thing or something we say hoping another team sucks because of it.

I lost all respect for Hue watching that season. Then toss in Gregg Williams and the drama with the OC.

What I heard on TV is that teams that were in the playoffs at the end of the previous season can opt out of being featured on Hard Knocks.  Essentially, the Bills could have refused.

I just looked on Wikipedia quickly for the seasons and it looked like most teams weren't great the year before with the exception of 2001 Ravens having won the SB in 2000 and the 2010 Jets having gone to AFCC in 09 and again in 2010, the year of their Hard Knocks.

 

I am glad this is the training camp version and not in-season. I could see in-season being more of a distraction.

Yep. Lets just ignore a 20 year trend and assume the Bills will be the exception. 
 

Let’s see how that works out as compared to the other 55 year trend of zero Super Bowl wins.

I think that up until recently, they were only using non-playoff teams for the show.

That probably has more to do with those numbers than anything else.
