NastyNateSoldiers Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Our worst matchup is against Burrow and Mahomes Mcd defense can't stop them when it matters no matter who's on the field they know how to pick a part his zone defense. Quote
machine gun kelly Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I agree with a previous poster there is no way to definitively answer this question as we’ve revalued our defense. It’s all simple guessing. Quote

We cannot beat ourselves, and we cannot be put in a position where the officials can screw us over. That’s a myth. The Bills don’t beat themselves. We did not lose the turnover battle in a single game last year, including the three playoff games. I’m not sure that’s ever been done before in the history of the NFL. As for the refs, remind me which games they cost us last year… Edited 13 hours ago by mannc Quote

I think there is a tendency to “fear” the Ravens more because of how they’ve destroyed us a couple of times in the regular season, and their running game is one to be respected, but in general these threads are amusing to me because for each of these other teams the prospect of facing the Bills is a daunting challenge. Cincinnati beat us in our building two and a half years ago in a game that wasn’t “normal” and folks can’t get over that even though they didn’t even make the freaking playoffs. KC keeps squeaking by us in January even though we’re every bit the team they are. Houston is a paper tiger and I’m looking forward to the Bills exacting some payback this season. The bottom line is that while Bills fans obsess over matchups, nobody wants to play the Bills. Not even the Chiefs. Quote

The bottom line is that while Bills fans obsess over matchups, nobody wants to play the Bills. Not even the Chiefs. Of course none of those teams look forward to playing the Bills, but that's a given and isn't really relevant to the question in this thread. The question here is who do the Bills match up least well against. I think it is the Ravens because the things they do best on offense and defense - pound the rock, primarily using play action for their chunk plays and take away the middle of the field (even more so with drafting Starks) and use lots of simulated pressure looks on defense are the things that play best to the weaknesses of the Bills. I can see the argument for playoff time KC because I think at this stage it isn't even an Xs and Os or personnel advantage they have so much as a mental one. Cincy's pass game is a concern, sure but I like how the Bills match up to them everywhere else and the Bills nearly beat the Texans last year Josh playing like trash and completing just 9 passes - get anything like normal Josh Allen the Bills beat them 9/10 times. So purely on what do we do well and less well vs what does another team do well and less well it is Baltimore who give me most pause for thought. 3 Quote

I guess I lean Baltimore, but I could be convinced otherwise. Agree, but . . . Not KC, we know we can beat them and we know how to beat them: play good defense (just have not done that in the playoffs) As for the Ravens, everyone knows that if you keep Lamar from going off-script, you have good odds at beating them. The Bills are good at that and have had decent success against them. He has also had some regular-season success against us. I say it's 55/45 odds with the lean toward the Bills. You can also add that Harbaugh is not a good game-day coach. Despite the reputation, he makes some head-scratching decisions at times. The Bengals are our toughest team. Why? Joe Burrow is a precision passer, and with a very good set of receivers, he can carve up a defense like the Bills' soft zone. It's close, and the case could be made for all three of them, but I slightly lean towards the Bengals. 1 Quote
Kaenon Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Oh gosh, I forgot about it but I had nightmares last night we lost to KC again in the playoffs and KC went to 4 straight Super Bowls 😭 😭 😭 We didn't convert a single 3rd down all game when I looked at the box score. I missed the first half and got to the game just after halftime. Bills chucked up a TD to take the league but the refs overturned it making it 4th and 1 around midfield. McDermott elected to punt and KC scored on the next drive and the game was over from there. I can't believe they've been in the big dance 5 of the past 6 seasons. Welp, they wasted their next shot in my nightmare!! Quote
GASabresIUFan Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago It really all depends on the improved defense. Get pressure on the QB and it won’t matter on the matchups. No pressure and we could struggle against anyone. That said, Baltimore’s power running game is our worst matchup on paper. We are still small on front and can’t stop the run until proven otherwise. dorquemada Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Until we have a defense that shows up in big games, it'll be the Chiefs we can't beat. Their defense makes big plays in big moments, ours plays small. Maybe the obscene amount of draft and FA capital will make all this change but seems like we've heard this song before Quote
billsfan714 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Chiefs and Ravens. Ravens with that power running game against our D is always a concern, and not sure you can count on turnovers to stop them. As for the Chiefs, it's just beyond obvious that Reid and Spags vs Sean and whoever our O coordinator is, well big advantage Chiefs. Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I think that the worst matchups are Baltimore and Cincy. I don’t know why the Bills just don’t look great against them. I voted KC because McDermott hasn’t figured out how to stop them when it matters. Quote

mjt328 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Houston and Baltimore got us during a brief slump last year. We still almost came back and won the Houston game, and we got revenge against Baltimore in the playoffs. Nothing about the Texans really scares me. Historically we've done a good job slowing down Lamar Jackson. Derrick Henry added a tough wrinkle and has always been rough for us. But we adjusted and made him less of a factor in our second matchup. Cincinnati has given us lots of trouble with Joe Burrow under center, mostly because he's fantastic at picking apart a soft zone defense. However, the Bills defense started sprinkling in more man-coverage last year, and I think they take another step in that direction this season. The Bengals defense and run game has also gone backwards since the last time we played. As I've continually said each of the last 3-4 seasons... the Bills have surpassed Kansas City in pure talent. And our roster is built in a favorable way to beat them. Regular season we've taken them down 4 straight years, even though the games were close. Not sure if it's just a mental thing, but we can't seem to get past them in the playoffs. Our strong defense can't get stops. It can't just be the Chiefs "turning it on" for the postseason either, because other opponents have been able to handle them. Based purely on scheme and personnel, the Ravens are probably still our toughest matchup. Based on the mental aspect that comes along with sports, the Chiefs are still the most difficult team for us to get past. Quote

Captain Hindsight Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago The Bills would throttle Houston. Josh had one of the worst games of his career last year and they still almost beat Houston if any of the other teams in their division could get their ***** together, Houston would be competing for a wildcard Quote

Sure he dropped the critical 2 point conversion against us but he still a critical cog of that offense. I think it be a mistake if they move on from him but am all for it as a Bills fan. 1 Quote
