Is Cook worth it?

He's very dangerous as a receiver.  He's not dropping a lot of passes. 

I've been watching highlights from last season.  Cook is dynamic, one of the best backs on the league.  I really want to see him signed to an extension.  

He's worth big money.

Force him to play this year or fine him. Let him walk after the season and get most likely a 3rd round compensatory pick…. His career is mirroring his brothers.

Our line was top notch last year everyone ran well behind it. If you look he had one great season of lots of TDs the others were standard top 15 RB years. 
 

I don’t see us putting more than 11 million 3 years into him and if he wants 15 let him be we can fill that void with ray and or rookies.

He is worth keeping, however the jury is still out on what he should be paid. Let him play this season and if he earns it we will have to pay him more. If he plays like his first 2 seasons then he needs to lower his price or find a sucker who will pony up.

 

i hope he crushes it and earns his pay, but time will tell.

Surprised this hasnt been mentioned, I believe the team's feeling is 12.4 per.

Is he worth his $15 million per year asking price?  Tough question.  He is an outstanding back, but I think with the way Buffalo uses him, he comes a bit short of what you might call a workhorse or bell cow back.  I think the Bills worry that if they gave him more touches the risk of injury might go up given Cooks relatively diminutive size.  Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry and Bijan Robinson, along with a few other backs had over 300 carries in 2024, while Cook had 207 carries.  Cook also caught some passes, but Barkley actually caught a few more, and Derrick Henry even caught a few.  I don't think Buffalo wants increase the number of touches they give Cook.   They are happy to have Ty Johnson as a 3rd down back, and I think they would like Ray Davis to be even more involved in the offense than he was in 2024. 

It becomes a question of what he's worth to Buffalo versus what he might be worth to a team that would want him to be a bigger percentage of their offense.

Is it also possible that Cook is trying to leave Buffalo by forcing a larger contract request that he knows that the Bills will not offer.  
 

I doubt anyone will trade for him this season and he may have to play 2025 to get that big contract somewhere else where he likes it (Miami, Tampa, Jax ??)

I said feom watching his draft reaction that I don't think he has ever wanted to be here.

 

He knows how this org works and has seemingly went out of his way to try and guarntee he won't be here next year ( sooner if he can pull it off )

I'm not going to make that assumption as he somehow says cheese in a picture without smiling.  He pry recognizes that he benefits greatly from having a good offensive line and one of the best dual threat QB of all time.  He's just trying to strike when his value is at an all time high.

It's hard when Cook is a liability in pass pro which means he essentially can't be on the field on 3rd downs...

 

Hard to commit that kind of money to a 2 down back no matter how good he is
