I heard McVay called Roseman a "pancake eatin' mother******" at the breakfast buffet, and when Roseman looked up and asked who said that, when someone said Sean, McVay pointed to McDermott. 🤷‍♂️

Do we not run our own version of the tush push frequently with very good success with exception of the Kansas City playoff game? His aggressive take on this topic is bizarre and seems really illogical.

"Bills head coach Sean McDermott is a member of the NFL’s Competition Committee and said he is in favor of a “proactive” move against the play for health an safety reasons."

Jason Kelce has talked about the play being gruelling on a Centers body, but he does not think it leads to more injuries, for whatever that is worth.

I am a mixed bag. I dont like the play. I dont like the current rationale for removing it. I do like my coach being willing to vote according to his loyalty to the game, and not the team, first. At least thats my view of it

(Im also confident McD doesnt do this without talking to Beane, Pegula, Josh, and McGovern)

McDermott is getting involved in too many outside things. He should just be focused on making the Bills better and winning and leaving the rules decisions to the GM, Owner or others.

Because he takes his "job" seriously.  He's the kind of person that stops at red lights playing Grand Theft Auto.

Another red flag sign for McD. He wants “our best play” on short yardage to go away?

I want a new head coach. I want a new head coach. I want a new head coach

McD is just upset that an admin type GM like Roseman is better at finding DT's than he is.

McD looks in the community centers and soup kitchens across the country looking for that 5th year coach on the field type

while roseman just goes to Athens GA

Yes, it's the Eagles and Bills. Those 2 teams used it more last season than all 30 other teams combined.

I guess he thinks we'd get the same results with just Josh?

Normal cycle in sports.

1970s: the "bump and run" stifles passing games. Nobody had ever thought about playing CB that way until some guys (I remember the name Jimmy Marsalis) started doing it. It wasn't against the rules, but it was messing with the game. The NFL outlawed it.

2024 MLB: the defensive shift was messing with the game as we'd always played it. Nobody had ever though of playing 3 guys on the right side of the infield against lefty hitters until some clever analytics nerd suggested it would work and it wasn't against the rules. A few years later everyone was doing it. It changed the game in a way that most fans didn't like, so it was banned.

The tush push was illegal as "aiding the runner" when I was a kid. In the early part of the 2000s the NFL changed the rule (why?) but it took about 15 years for some clever coach (probably analytics nerd to be honest) thought about exploiting the rule change. To me it's made the game less interesting, more predictable as that 4th and 1 is automatic. (Or at least it was until we decided it requires the QB to go left) I'd rather see Jalen Hurts or Josh Allen rollout and make a great athletic play. Or a defender make a great athletic play to stop it.

Ban it.

100%, 4th and 1 or 3rd and 1 is one of the most exciting plays in football. Not anymore. Get rid of the damn thing.

Really?  Why?  I get we had a "failure" (was a 1st down), but that play has done more good than bad against us.  I cant even think of an instance weve faced it other than Philly?

If you dont like Josh taking a beating, take it outta the gameplan except pure emergencies.  Dont see how this helps us at all

"Health concerns" LOL  you mean QB injury concerns??  Find someone else that can run the play and sub Josh. Its the ultimate football play, we dont have a football guy?  Give Ray Davis reps, and line up Cook or whoever behind him.  The threat of a pass on that play isnt "real"

I never liked that they made assisting the runner by pushing legal in 2005. Why not allow pulling the runner as well?

They mustve got lenient with it, ive seen Dawkins do it for sure and was lost i thought it was illegal

It will shift to using a TE in that spot for a lot of teams and running it like an old school sneak.  That’s where short yardage is headed.

It is illegal. Just like all the other illegal things are that don’t always get called. In 2005, when they legalized pushing, they should have also legalized pulling, too, to remove any ambiguity. Personally, I don’t like runners being assisted by either.
