Watch him play the first four weeks and then get suspended for 4 games 🤦‍♂️

this is what will happen. i think i read he was only able to be suspended 4 games due to nflpa agreements.

amazing that he will start the season for 4 games.

At first I was like of course they'd let him play vs the Chargers, Eagles, and Ravens in their first 4 weeks but then I looked at their whole schedule and thats a damn tough schedule especially with the improvements that the Chargers and Broncos particularly made and the Raiders always seems to give them trouble in 1/2 divisional games a year.

Of course most of the tough games are at home though so we shall see.

Rashee Rice is definitely playing 4, only getting suspended for 4 and then coming back against us.

We all know this.

I don't even care.  Maybe they can win the meaningless matchup this season and we can take the the one that matters?

So he's already been found guilty.  The NFL had over a year to gather everything yet they still need to wait another 2 months to have a hearing?

Seems like Addison's DUI that didn't hurt people and wasn't a felony didn't go through these hoops

I don't remember hearing about a hearing with Von

Mahomes has been so - mid - the last 2 seasons.

They cannot let him start off like that against those teams in prime time.

Didn’t they start off 9-0 last season?

This is speculation on my part but if the NFL and Rice been unable to reach an agreement and the next step is Sue Robinson arbitrating the case, that indicates to me that the NFL is seeking a particularly long suspension and Rice of course doesn't want to accept it.

4 games for pleading to 2 felonies for what he did is ridiculous

We all know Rice has already received absurdly beneficial procedural wins starting from the moment he exited that car last, from the passenger side, and successfully fled the scene. At no point has law enforcement treated him with the punitive urgency a working class or even poor citizen would have received. And as far as the NFL's separate investigative process is specifically concerned, I'm not hearing any noise about a history of prior behavioral red flags. I think at least one incident has come up since he joined the league and before the big public endangerment car crash thing. Total broom job upcoming: 4 games at most, but possibly appealed down to the 3, and that appeals process means Rice begins his suspension a week later, after week 5, and thus returns week 9 against Buffalo LMAO.

We all knew what was going to happen. The Chiefs, Reid, and Mahomes are the new NE, Belichick, and Brady. They receive the same in-game and off-the-field treatment. Anything that helps to keep them elevated, anything that helps to keep their darlings at the forefront, that is what the NFL will do. Whatever they feel is best for their ratings and makes them.the most $$$. In this case, it will be a suspension on the lighter end, and at a point where it doesn't impact meaningful games for them. He'll miss the Jax, Detroit, and LV games. That's it.

Mid by his standards. Yep. He has still been a top 5 QB in the NFL both years. That just shows how high his standard is.... but yea... he has not played at his highest level the last two years.

I’m quoting this, just because I can. It’s incredibly stupid and obviously unfair when put in such simple terms. The NFL is telling us what they value right there, and it’s not human life.

I get the conspiracy theories about Chiefs favoritism but that's really not what's happening here. The media has done a poor job of explaining the facts. Or worse, deliberately misconstruing the facts to get clicks.

The NFL's personal conduct policy is a lot more nebulous than other polices that allow suspensions. The substance abuse policy for example is clearly written into the CBA and there is not much players can do to appeal those. In Rice's case however there is no set policy for what he did. So in his case his appeal must be heard by a neutral arbitrator and Sue Robinson is the federal judge the NFL has appointed to that job. Like any federal judge her schedule is booked out for months, so the first date she has available on her calendar is September 30. Under the rules of the current CBA there is simply nothing the NFL can do to expedite the process unless they agree to a settlement with Rice.

The fact that the NFL is NOT reaching a settlement with Rice's side indicates to me they are actually trying to bring the hammer down and set an example. If it was just a 4 game suspension they were offering I believe he would have already accepted it. Dragging the suspension into the middle of the season may in fact be the worse outcome for Rice and the Chiefs. It likely will even help us since he will probably miss our game.

It is ridiculous but the NFL has always treated things that could impact the on field (such as PEDs) more seriously than things that just tarnish the reputation.
