He had a pick and White dropped a pick 6. Had 2 circus catches in double coverage,  Waddle and Mosert. We dominated Tua despite 300 yards. He can't take pressure and we took his first read away where he gets very uncomfortable,  barely improvises. Allen is on a whole different level

Just take a look at the stats page for QBs, and you’ll see that the top is all bunched up.

 

Allen is currently #6 in yards, #1 in comp % (Lamar Jackson is essentially tied though), #5 in YPA, tied for #2 in TDs with 3 other QBs. Tied for #3 in passer rating with Herbert just behind.

 

As of today, MVP is probably looking like:

- Tua

- Allen

- L. Jackson

- Mahomes

- Purdy

- Herbert

 

Russell Wilson actually has an identical passer rating to Allen right now with 9 TDs and 2 INTs (although I think garbage time might have something to do with that).

Josh will never ever win an MVP playing in Buffalo.  The weather is just too unpredictable after Halloween and a low scoring defensive game or two where he is off and it really isn’t his fault will always factor into the media narrative.

 

Heck about 10 members of this board still criticize everything he does. Much less the Nick Wrights and Steven A Smiths of the world. 
 

So Josh go win a Super Bowl and make more commercials.

What is interesting about Josh through 4 weeks is he has been better at home rather than on the road. I feel like to this point in his Bills career it has often been the other way around. He was flawless yesterday. I am glad he got a perfect passer rating because I thought his decision making was perfect yesterday. He played Quarterback literally perfectly.

I don't know. There's a calm emanating from Allen the past two or three games I haven't seen too often before. He seems very much in control of himself and the offense. Even against the Jets he was taking what they gave him until he melted down. Ironically, he might have needed that meltdown to learn (or reinforce) the lesson that he doesn't have to do it all. My sense is that this is the version of Allen we'll see from now on, the same version we saw in the 13-second game. In short, the best player in the league, at any position.

That used to be my thought as well, but I'm changing my mind on it. 

 

In the past even in bad weather Josh was playing the same style of downfield passing, run the ball himself. And that would lead to those 18-31 201 yard passing days.

 

This year? If he plays the way he has, is patient and hits the short underneath stuff he can still have solid days in worse weather consistently. He's not running this year as much either (I believe he has 12 rushes through 4 games...who is this guy?). But what he is doing is scrambling out and keeping his eyes upfield. Result: big play. Once the weather turns a bit and footing becomes an issue this should only HELP put up better numbers and the DBs will struggle with footing on those plays. As long as he stays playing with the patience he has and continues to trust his playmakers he's got a solid chance at a monumental season.

Let's also appreciate his throwaway and taking of a sack because on those plays, he accepted defeat instead of attempting a risky throw. I clapped on both of those because it's the maturation I have been waiting to see. 

If he continues playing with patience and smartness, he will be the MVP this season.

Josh has also been pulled early/has just run out the clock in 3 straight games because his team is absolutely destroying people.  He’s the leader of an offense who’s point differential is comically large 

 

haven’t looked it up yet but I’d guess josh is a slight mvp favorite right now.

 

The mvp odds aren’t just a snapshot of who has the best stats at the current moment either, they have to bake some future predictions into it as well.  For that reason I doubt tua is even 2. The offensive line discrepancy between the bills and chiefs vs the dolphins is massive so it’s really hard to envision tua winning the mvp when you’re trying to predict out the rest of the season

Doesn't matter at the end of the year when the stats are compiled what coulda woulda shoulda.

 

If you graphed their output, Tua would look consistently good and level with not too much deviance. Josh's would be all over the place, way too much volatility. Higher highs and lower lows.

 

I don't think Tua is better, in fact I think he's crap. He's a noodle arm 1-read QB and there's absolutely nothing special about him. He's successful because of McDaniel and was absolute dog doo doo before him and Hill got there. But he plays consistently above average football in that system because they don't ask him to do too much and the result is efficient.

Yes Fields can do whatever Tua or Hurts do. Plug him into either of those teams and don't ask him to do much and he's just as good. I don't think that's as much of a leap as you are making it out to be.

It is completely okay to say Hurts is overrated.  I believe that as well.

 

But to say he’s worse than one of the worst is being ridiculous.  Fields is awful.

I could see Tua having by far the best QB stats this year, because the Dolphins are going to stat pad against bad and middle of the road defenses.

Fields tries to do too much because his team is crap. Maybe one of the worst teams in the past decade. Arizona is tanking and the Bears are still worse.

 

Historically, Fields has played very efficient football like Tua or Hurts when he doesn't have to do it all on his own. He has been consistently a 70%+ passer with very high TD to almost zero int ratio. He can do whatever they do in the right situation. Tua is 🗑️
